The Oliver transmission is a 3 speed with high/low. If you take the shifter off and look you will see one notch in the center rail that shifts the high/low. The outer rail has two notches. You have a 3 speed with reverse. If you have it in the back/bottom the notches all line up in the front. Shifts like any other transmission. When you shift to the front/top the notch in the center rail lines up with the back notches in the outer rails. You shift the same 3 forward & 1 reverse all over again.

86 series transmissions are fine, same as 66 series. Adjust your dump valve and transmission brake and they won't grind.
