I needed a "feel good Veggie Boy" video tonight. Your energy is contagious and the family always brings a smile to my face, also it's a bonus when I learn something new.
I really enjoy hearing Grandpa eloquently explain things about plants and planting. You can tell he's a very intelligent person with a lot of experiences who knows his stuff. His fun, goofy demeanor sometimes lets you forget that.
I love those big trays with a lot of cells! Grandpa is good at explaining the topography of his area and the neighboring area. He is an expert on his trade!
You made a comment that you’re not professionals I don’t know how much more professional and efficient an operation can be! I can’t wait to visit and see your whole operation
Man! It seems like your putting out a video every day, love it! I also love how since good ole lefty started his channel “grandpa” doesnt have anyone to blame for his mishaps
It's more like every 2 days. Don't worry. Come summer time Lefty will be helping out in the fields, then Grandpa will have plenty to complain about. LOL
Loved hearing Grandpa explain about growing situation all around you all. Please tell me how aunt Becky fits into the family? Also I think Gavin is a cousin, but how? I know Joel is a cousin and his mother is grandpa’s sister. Trying to keep you all straight. My husband and I just love your videos and watching your family! It is so nice to see families like you all!
Great explanation from grandpa on the different growing conditions in your area. I live in NEOhio and the closer to the lake you are the earlier you can plant but go 10 miles south and the elevation changes and you can’t plant until mid may due to still cold or cool temps in the evening. Last week we had three mornings in the high 20’s. Crazy spring time weather 😵💫. Thanks Ochs family!!
Grandpa sure did a wonderful job on explaining growing conditions in your area . Central Indiana is now in the high 70’s lows 40’s and 50’s and storms coming in tonight around midnight . We got people out in fields tilling and spreading manure over top . And getting ready to plant if we don’t get a down pour of rain. And some people our getting their gardens ready to plant . I didn’t get mine done the company didn’t has their shipment in for lumber that’s a bummer.
I can't believe you said you are not professionals. You sure are. By definition you support your family with your knowledge and the farm setup you created and maintain. A well oiled machine.
A good example: My neighbour planted his tomatoes the first of May, I planted my tomatoes the first of June. My tomatoes were three times the size of his tomatoes by the end of June and had a better yield. In fact, I had so many tomatoes I gave them away for free to my neighbours. (I only plant heirloom beefsteak indeterminate tomato plants.) // I planted my dill with my tomatoes, and the tomatoes blocked all the sun. This resulted in me having pretty pathetic looking dill. // Did you know Basil is a companion plant for tomatoes? I always plant basil with my tomatoes. I do not use basil so I give it all to my neighbours who use if for pesto etc.
I’m new to your channel but I just have to say what a joy it is to see the family all working together! Your positive attitude and joyful self makes me smile! 😊
I start my own tomatoes from seed and do 3 plantings 2 week apart, when the 1st planting is dying in August the 3rd round goes into September and October temperatures permitting.
Up in Canada in the small village I grew up in, my dad always planted his garden about the 24th of May. His neighbor would plant his garden as soon as the snow was gone from the hill across the valley from us, usually around April 20th. Every year my dad's garden would outperform the neighbor's garden. Cheers. ~ulrich
Man i accidentally stumbled upon this channel and starting watching and just started watching more video .. bring back memories when i use to work at farm was great fun 👍👍👍
Good afternoon Veggie Boys and Girls!! It’s already a hot and humid one down here in East Texas… a balmy 89 degrees with 61% humidity… Everything sure is looking good up there. Keep up the good work!! 🙌🏼 🙌🏼
By the way yes I learned that from these guys. They are a wealth of knowledge and I am not shy about saying it. Bryan and his family are really good folks and I respect them for what they do.
Hat's off to your father Mr Brian, wow he has a welt of nolage and experience, and he can speak well and explain himself very good, greetings from Trinidad 🇹🇹and Tobago in the Caribbean to your whole family, I am grandpa.
You guys are literally my favorite youtube channel. You bring back great memories of my farming career. You explain things better than anyone else I have watched and have a great extended family. Great job!
I am always amazed at the amount of work Grammy puts in making things for sale at the farm market. I am curious about how she decides the menus for lunch ?
is it weird that my favorite part of most videos is seeing what they are having for lunch and supper? I'd like to know how she does her menus too...beyond cooking what is ready for harvest. I weekly menu plan.
I’m so happy there are people like you who are able to grow quality food for the people in your community. Farmers are truly the unsung heroes of this country. Bless you all.
plants grow based on heat units. Growing Degree Days (GDDs), Growing Degree Units (GDUs), or heat units (HUs). Add to that moisture as pioneer will sprout if wet, and experimental stuff can sprout while on the stalk. these guys are doing astonishing fantastic stuff with experience.
Callie is too adorable! 💗💗 I've noticed all my tomatoes double in size between June 5th and 15th. It's a sweet spot of growth and I look forward to it every year!
Good morning Andrew, thanks grandpa for his wealth of information. I love to hear him explain the situation concerning why to or not to plant. Daniel is so handsome but you have to be fast to catch him on camera because he is still camera shy. All you guy are hard working and all work so well together. More videos.
After having a husband that didn't want anything to do with our kids before they were 10, it is really refreshing to see the men of your family fawning so much over Callie. Please tell Matthew and Daniel how proud I am of them for stepping up and being such doting uncles.
Seriously Andrew, we didn’t get a dinner tour. 😤 my life is over… until the next video. So, I would call my brother every day to ask what he was eating, now he’s passed on and I’m just interested in the meals you share. It’s my thing. It fills a void.
My girlfriend only lives 30 miles and 50 feet lower than me on the Sea Islands. It makes a world of difference on planting dates. Therefore I am very interested in the biodegradable row cover.
Can confirm, we're already harvesting tomatoes in Florida. They'll get even better tasting this month but I'd sure like some rain in West Central Florida to help with watering!
You should plant the cucumber seed and the dill seed together so they become dill flavored when you pick them! I buy Mount Olive bread n butter sweet pickles. Mouth watering to me. On hamburgers, subs, anything. Notice NO burger joint offers swee pickles? I do not eat out but once a year.
Different Plantings make a Lot of Sense. I buy ALL Tomato Plants at the same time so what’s available is what I buy. Determinate Vs. Indeterminate Tomato 🍅 Plants ? That’s the $ 64,000 Question. 👍
Last year I was able to plant tomatoes the middle of April. I live right next to the Ohio river I will be doing the same thing that they do on multiple plantings so that not everything comes ripe at the same time which will give me time to make sure I sell all of my veggies.
I am in nyc and only on my first planting of the season I probably should be moving upstate get a greens house so I can keep up with y’all. Consider it done. Got property upstate in Sullivan county in the Catskills now building greenhouse and an acre garden area. Y’all inspired me thank you
I know you guys are very BUSY but I have a question for GRANDPA. What variety of Tomatoes would be good for Tomato cages, I been having the problem of the tomato plants getting too tall and then they fall over, I need something bushy and not that tall so they stay in the cages. THANKS. Great COLORS in the Greenhouses - BEAUTIFULL.
Our summer is to hot and best tomatoes are planted in early March and in late August. Especially if you grow in pots. Sweet corn here is starting to tassel and we'll have fresh corn by end of May. Right now melons are about 6 inches tall and it's already getting to hot for lettuce. Mother's day it should be between 95 to 100 depending on where in the valley you live.

Totally agree!!!
Damn right
I really enjoy hearing Grandpa eloquently explain things about plants and planting. You can tell he's a very intelligent person with a lot of experiences who knows his stuff. His fun, goofy demeanor sometimes lets you forget that.
Love grandpa’s special nuggets of knowledge that are shared along with your explanations of what is going on. 👏🌻🌷😊🇨🇦
I love those big trays with a lot of cells!
Grandpa is good at explaining the topography of his area and the neighboring area. He is an expert on his trade!

With all respect to the family but Tracy's voice is so cute we love it 👍
Yes. And the baby does too. She heard Tracy and turned her head to find her!
Man! It seems like your putting out a video every day, love it!
I also love how since good ole lefty started his channel “grandpa” doesnt have anyone to blame for his mishaps

You guys make my day. Love watching y’all’s progress and hype!
I'm such a failure about starting anything from seeds I can't even start alyssum which is otherwise known as a weed. I am in awe of you.
Grandpa sounds like he’s a good story teller 🤘🏻💚
far-out, andrew ya'll got your stitcher for bags, that is sew cool!😎

The lake causes a micro climate because of the breeze and moisture coming off of it.
I can't believe you said you are not professionals. You sure are. By definition you support your family with your knowledge and the farm setup you created and maintain. A well oiled machine.
Yeah for the shoutout for Freeland :) that's my area. reason why i get my plants from you guys
Callie is growing up surrounded by so much love. What a beautiful thing.
A good example: My neighbour planted his tomatoes the first of May, I planted my tomatoes the first of June. My tomatoes were three times the size of his tomatoes by the end of June and had a better yield. In fact, I had so many tomatoes I gave them away for free to my neighbours. Yep with planting outside, timing is really everything. I start my tomato plants indoors and then put outside around May 20-25th. Zone 8A / 8B.
Loved the video keep them coming can't get enough !!!!! Wish they were longer as they go so fast ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️ Love from the UK x
I’m new to your channel but I just have to say what a joy it is to see the family all working together! Your positive attitude and joyful self makes me smile! 😊
You guys … and girls are as professional as it gets. Give yourselves credit! Love you guys… and girls

I’m so happy there are people like you who are able to grow quality food for the people in your community. Farmers are truly the unsung heroes of this country. Bless you all.
Seemed like forever till todays video once the last one Saturday. Needed my Veggie fix bad. Wealth of information in todays video!!

Add to that moisture as pioneer will sprout if wet, and experimental stuff can sprout while on the stalk.

Pushing the dirt down before seeding helps with extracting a intact root ball later.
I was half expecting it to start snowing again with the weather you guys have been having this year. 😂
love the way your dad says "cahbeej"
Callie is too adorable! 💗💗 I've noticed all my tomatoes double in size between June 5th and 15th. It's a sweet spot of growth and I look forward to it every year!

I would think, when you're in the germination greenhouse, Grandpa would make you all speak German! lol Keep up the great videos....I love 'em
The last 3 years my garden has been planted on Memorial Day weekend
Looks good in the greenhouse!
That’s y his grandpa full of knowledge
Love watching you guys do what you do
I was behind ya the other day, construction between Nescopeck and Mifflinville
I have sent your info to some friends in Lebanon Co., to drive up and get their plants..I said I supervised the plantings and approve.. 😂😂🤣🤣
Seriously Andrew, we didn’t get a dinner tour. 😤 my life is over… until the next video.
So, I would call my brother every day to ask what he was eating, now he’s passed on and I’m just interested in the meals you share. It’s my thing. It fills a void.
You guys are the best. Holy moly. And cut the bs. You are the professionals. So much so.
Grand Pa gave a very good explanation of climate and location. And transplanting time. I wish you would include the date your videos are shot.
My girlfriend only lives 30 miles and 50 feet lower than me on the Sea Islands. It makes a world of difference on planting dates. Therefore I am very interested in the biodegradable row cover.
My dill self seeds itself every year. It's always ready when my cucumbers are ready to pickle.
Can confirm, we're already harvesting tomatoes in Florida. They'll get even better tasting this month but I'd sure like some rain in West Central Florida to help with watering!
I’m planning on visiting you ,hopefully to buy some plants. And then late summer n buy veg . It’s going to be my b-day gift from by husband 👍

Did I miss what you had for lunch or did you forget 🤔 ... remember to stay safe and stay blessed
WE ARE PENN ST!!!!! Good video
GO BLUE!
I do a stress day once a week on my tomatoes and peppers where I let them dry out to promote more root growth
I use mostly 98 and 50 cells for personal plants, other stuff is usually multisown then moved to 6 cells or 4 inch pots
I beg to differ…you guys are experts! Your dad has been doing this a long time. He is most definitely an expert in the agricultural field!🧑🌾🌾🐄🐴🐓
Our summer is to hot and best tomatoes are planted in early March and in late August. Especially if you grow in pots. Sweet corn here is starting to tassel and we'll have fresh corn by end of May. You guys do good work. Keep going, I will try and get there for the pepper crop
The best vedios i mostly watch on youtube
