I’m trying this today on a telecaster today. I intend to bind it but never done one before. I’ve bought the jigs to use a Dremel to make the channel. Wish me luck 😂
@@everettswift2023 well I did it and I wouldn’t recommend using a Dremel to cut the binding even with the expensive jig thing I had to get to do it. I managed to do an ok job on the binding after sanding and filing the cut channel. The fabric top turned out pretty good so I will do it again when I get a router setup for the binding cut.
@@waynehughes8297 one trick I like for faux binding is to get the whole guitar stained/dyed/colored etc. Then run over the sides with an edge profile router bit (roundover, bevel, whatever your preference). The router cuts out a clean edge profile. You can also do this manually with a rasp, plane, spokeshave, etc, if you need more control or to avoid holes like the input jack.
It's nice to see this is doable with wood glue and water based sealer.
