I first saw them live in 1980, it was a butt kicking concert...their concerts were auesome!
Dang! Lucky. I'm trying to think what acts I saw in their "prime". Beastie Boys 1994, Smashing Pumpkins '94, Guided By Voices 90's, INXS '86, Weird Al Yankovic '84, Night Ranger '84, Metallica '89. But Metallica's prime was a bit earlier before Cliff Burton passed. Saw Ramones 3 times in '96 and Neil Young & Crazy Horse, they were aging but great! On an extreme music note Napalm Death was awesome. They pummel but they scream for peace and justice
I was 17 years old in June of 1988. My parents got me and several friends tickets to see Van Halen in Tampa for my graduation. Imagine standing outdoors at night in front of the stage, watching Eddie do this live. RIP to the goat!
Monsters of rock ? I was there ! The great food fight , lol
I was also at that concert I remember when all the cops came out on both sides when all that chit happened seen a guy down on the field standing on top of a concession stand and ripped down by a couple of cops it was funny as hell. One other thing the big horse trough that people had to piss in at the old sombrero. Man I miss that place
GOAT
Congrats guys, you just witnessed the greatest guitarist to ever live! RIP EDDIE.
Seconds in and my eyes are tearing up. A Van Halen show was the excitement of a child learning they were going to Disneyland. Thank you both for keeping this music alive. This music saved my life more than once. Bless you both.
Eddie, the Mozart of guitar!🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸👊
A day old an this just popped up. Algorithm is at it again.
Great Job y'all !!
Greatest guitar player to ever live.
I miss Eddie Van Halen. He was the greatest. R.I.P. 🤘🎸🎶💙
I was at this concert. 10 row floor- center. New Haven Coliseum (1986). Remember it like it was yesterday. Epic!!!! Long live “ king Eddie”!!!🔥🔥🎸🤘🤘🔥🎸
You might remember it, but Eddie didn't. When interviewed about it later, he said he was so drunk he doesn't even remember playing that show. That's why Sammy was clowning as if Ed needed help climbing up on the riser. He knew Ed had been drinking all day long and was absolutely shattered.
@ oh yes,..king Eddie was sauced,… but he Aced the solo. Being there,.. you could tell he was drunk. But his greatness prevailed!!!!!
I had the absolute pleasure and privilege of seeing him do this twice. King Edward!! R.I.P.
5 times here
I was at this show! New Haven coliseum.. I was 15 and it was my first concert and I was never the same! I felt like you Mel, reborn!
⚡️🎸⚡️🎸⚡️🎸⚡️🎸⚡️⚡️🎸
RIP EVH
Rest in Peace "Edward the Great " 🙏
Easy Top 10 Guitarist of all time hands down 🤘🤘🤘
Love the reaction.
I saw the original VH on 3 different tours back in the 80's and it was FOR REAL for real!
My hand cramps up just WATCHING this man!! Genius. And hard work!!
Most definitely an eargasim! Eddie Vanhalen the KING OF GUITAR .He played his first concert at 14. Eddie changed guitar forever. The music world had to create a new style of writing music.... called tablature-tabs the only way to put his music on sheet music. He perfected(not created) tapping. In the 70s . Such a total mind blow. Can you imagine hearing this 50 years ago?!?!?!!!! Pure alien music. The man was WAY ahead of his time; by light years 😂😂😂. He was an innovator he made that guitar in his basement out of different guitar parts. He created the first super-fuzz pickup. And he named that guitar the frankinstrat. Wish he was still with us. Check out where Eddie plays for Les Paul. It is a historical piece. Let me know what you think about it. LEGENDARY
Thanks again 😂😂😂😂
Amen,man 👍👍
Glad you found Van Halen! So many bangers! RIP EVH. ❤🤍🖤
“ I am great because I stand on the legends shoulders before me’
☮️❤️🙏🌏🌎🌍🇺🇸❤️☮️

I feel so damn lucky to have got to witness a Eddie solo live. RIP to the great one
Eddie Van Halen!
I can’t believe you haven’t reacted to this until now!
RIP, King Edward!
That is what we called an eargasm
7:50 -- this section is called "Cathedral" from the Diver Down album, one of my favorite instrumentals from The Maestro.
Thank you for reacting to eruption. Miss you Eddie.
Absolutely 🔥
Any song he could play it.An any guitar he could slay it.
Another awesome and amazing thing about Eddie is he built his own guitars
Unreal performance great reaction y’all
Seen this live for 22 bucks. The responsibility he takes on every night to do this live is unmatched.
🌸 been thinking about you guys and hope you're doing well
That guitar is SMOKIN!😊😂❤
In case no one told you, the guitarist is Eddie Van Halen. His brother Alex Van Halen is the drummer. They named the band after themselves.
Their first name for the band was Mammoth. Eddie's son, Wolfgang Van Halen named his band Mammoth. He currently tours. Check him out. His father Eddie and Uncle Alex taught him to play multiple instruments.
Yes sir, Edward Van Halen Shawn he is tapping on the guitar.. he feels his music..❤🤍🖤
my favorite part of the whole solo is that harmonic when he is working the knob
Had this on VHS Live without a net
I felt like I was going to stand up and Salute. I love Eddie Van Halen. The best guitarist! He passed away recently. I miss his smiling face. His son Wolfgang is following in his footsteps. Y'all check out his son.
The mozart of our time! Blessed to have been able to see him perform live on several occasions!
Best performance he ever had? He did that at every show
Edward may not have started the tapping craze but he definitely refined it. How many today tap for Edward. Thank you SIR Edward. I seen them in 1978 their first album tour. Then four more times
The King ❤️🖤
❤❤❤❤❤
Eddie is among the top guitarists ever. R.i.p Eddie van halen
Eddie Van Halen was a master. We havent seen many masters in our human existence who could do what he did. He changed the way music was heard. RIP EVH
The following song in this concert is I Can't Drive 55, and Eddie has to change guitars because the strings start breaking. One of the greatest guitarist of all time. Great reaction.
RIP, GOAT!!
WHOA YEAH MAN ❤😊
Great reaction! I may be bias since I grew up with these guys, saw them play in SoCal before they ever got a record contract or open for someone. There are others, Jimmy was great but sadly gone to soon and Stevie is probably the best blue's guitarist ever but you just watched the greatest Rock and Roll guitar player ever, period! RiP Eddie ❤
Eddie Van Halen is an alien from another planet and everyone on that planet plays guitar!
You have probably heard this guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, before. If you heard Michael Jackson's song "Beat It", you heard Eddie. Eddie played the guitar solo in "Beat It".
Sammy hagar lead vocals
Edward van halen lead guitar 🎸
Alex van Halen brother drums 🥁
Bass guitar Micheal Anthony
We lost a good-ern in Eddie's passing and we're all the worse off for it. RIP my brother, and save me a seat in the smoking section for when it's my turn to be called home.
He did this on a nightly basis...and he did it hammered on booze, which makes it all the more savage. Eddie could take any guitarist to school and any rock fan to church. And make it look easy. The absolute greatest, hands down.
How to make 13 minutes seem like on 30 seconds. Gob bless Eddie and RIP. We miss you. Mel nailed it. The greatest ever.
🌸 I still miss Eddie so much 💔
The drummer is Alex Van Halen. The guitar player is Eddie Van Halen.
🌸 EDDIE VAN HALEN! the band is called Van Halen... is older brother Alex playsthe drums....💔 we lost Eddie to cancer a few years ago
You want a sample of some of his work try listening to DOA, Drop Dead Legs, and Take you Whiskey Home.
Hey guys! You absolutely must see Steve Vai "Tender Surrender"
If you listen closely to the guitar solo by Eddie Van Halen's while he's playing you can hear every song now he's ever played with Van Halen
Came to America on a ship after WWII, with a piano. Couldn't speak English Built his own guitars, and never learned to read music. Check out his interview on UA-cam, what it means to be an American
13 min in and he song hasn’t started … YET!,,,,,,
King Edward. The greatest of all time
🤘🎸🤘💯💯💯❤️❤️❤️
🎸🔥
No auto tune 😎
🎸🎸🎸🤙🏽
Eddie FINGERS master of the Finger technique one of the best if not the best
that was eddie van halen... he did the solo on "beat it" from michael jackson.
Each riff is from a different song!
Black Star live by Yngwie ( Ing-vey ) Malmsteen

Eddie was the best! We miss him
Now I know You guys are hearing this for the first time but i've heard it forever a hundred times. I agree, he should be in the top 10 but.
He alsoh has some stiff competitiand I don't know if you've heard of the blind guitarist Jeff Healey.
But he has a song out there Called.see the light . Please Do a reaction video to that it's jeff healey The song is can you see the light. Van halen is one side of rock and roll Just one style heavy hard rock. But you But you can also have great guitarists. That should be in that top ten who aren't heavy rock and roll guitar. That is jeff healey , he should be in The top ten also. He What's discovered by Stevie? And he is very much equal to Stevie.Or beyond I kid you not listen to this guy and tell me any different and I'll listen to you but I don't think you'll be able to. So check out. Jeff Healey, see the light I and check it out. Be sure to put your seat belt on when you watch It.
Love Jeff Healy. I especially love the song he does with Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Check out any song from Van Halen 1 (studio) Ain't talking bout love / Jamies Crying / I'm the one / every song is a banger & i love Edwards studio sound...Unreal tones

Great one to make a comment!!

🌸 you guys probably already know this but just in case you didn't..... Eddie also made his own guitars.
This isn't the same "Eruption" that's on the album or what's played on the radio. It's some random live version.
Eddie Van Halen is his name. EVH is the GOAT. No contest!
#1 jimi #2 jimmy #3 eddie #4 srv #5 prince
Saw and heard in person July 1982. Great show. Eddie is great, but for my ears a guitar solo is better with the accompanying band. JMHO
Here is a great blues reaction for you two.
*Stevie Ray Vaughan & Jeff Healey - 'Look At Little Sister'* ua-cam.com/video/2HmLFyvFxTc/v-deo.html
Stephen Ray Vaughan (October 3, 1954 Dallas Texas - August 27, 1990) died in a helicopter crash in Chicago heading from the airport to the venue.
Jeff Healy (March 25, 1966 Ontario Canada - March 2, 2008 Ontario Canada) When he was almost one year old, Healey lost his sight due to retinoblastoma, a rare cancer of the eyes. His eyes had to be surgically removed, and he was given ocular prostheses.
On January 11, 2007, Healey underwent surgery to remove metastatic cancer tissue from both lungs. In the previous 18 months, he had two sarcomas removed from his legs. On March 2, 2008, Healey died of sarcoma in his home town of Toronto at the age of 41.
EVH = GOAT
EVH was the best!
King, Edward Van Halen!!!!!! The name of the band is VAN HALEN.
See if you can figure out what Michael Jackson song he played on now that you've heard him play ?
SOOOOOOOOoooo GREAT SOLO AND REACTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) He's AWESOM!!! Maybe check out NEIL PEART Buddy Rich HONOR????? Surprises awaits!! :) ♥AND, or... Victor Wooten bass music????????? :) “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Romans 15:13
Watch Stevie Ra Vaugh: Texas Flood
I think that you need to go back and watch the Pink Floyd Comfortably Nu,mb Pulse Concert again. You watched it three years ago and the qiestion must be asked. Which is the best rock guitar solo ever, Eruption by Eddie Van Halen or Comfortably Numb by David Gilmour?
