When I got my bass trombone (Kühnl & Hoyer) from my brother, I found slide'o'mix (Two component version) in the case. I tried a time and found it's not bad. But in my opinion I had to use it often. Than I was recommanded the Yamaha Slide Lubricant by my instrument dealer (Armin Leyener; he also crafts personally fitted trombones (no fee for that!)). So I use it since some years and I'm very satisfied with it. It's ease to use as Raph told and if I wipe with a dry smooth cloth, there is no rest at the slide and I can applicate newly.

You’ll get the hang of it. Maybe your teacher can show you on your slide?

Really? Haha the really old one was amazing. The new one not as impressive. But I’m so lazy I prefer the quick slide oil versions :)

Dear Raphael: thank you for the explanations. I am about to buy a new bass trombone and, in my country, it is easier to buy Yamahas ... however, you did not like it and I ask you why? Your answer will help me to decide what to buy. Thank you.

      Hi Fransisco,
there are many models of Yamaha, and some people like them a lot. I had to play one for a year or so, and I didnt like the sound of it. The rotary valves had a lot of resistance which I dont like, and the overall instrument had a bit of a soul less feel. That is however, a personal opinion on that particular model. Some really good players play on Yamaha. You might consider second hand instrument alternatives if it is hard to find another instrument in your country. Where do you live?
One last thing, I really really really recommend that you try an instrument before buying it. Hope that helps ?

Thank you so much for your answer. I live in Brazil and here it is almost impossible to buy brands like Latzsch or Edwards unless you go abroad (I know, they are very expensive). Anyway, I’ll be in US this year and I’ll probably and finally buy my new bass trombone. That’s why I wanted to hear from you about the Bass Xeno.
So I’m looking to that powerful dark sound without spending too much (I am not a professional player). And yes, I’ll try it before purchasing. Thanks again !

Micah Wilson it’s the rath hand grip

I mounted the rath handgrip to my Kühnl & Hoyer bassbone. It's so good to my left hand and arm!
