This song is about a girl who does not get enough love from her parents. They have high expectations for her and the collar shows the stress and pain she has. And as she grows older the collar stays hurting her. That means her parents expectations never left.
Yes.. and as far as I can understand it, the symbolism of the weight of the ch0ker on her neck is like her parent(s)'s unrealistic expectations of her. It is figuratively c40king her to her d34th slowly. One of the most horrific and painfully drawn-out ways to go. (crazy spelling because of censorship 😜)
And the abuse(?) she faced followed her all the way into adulthood because of the extent of the trauma. The feeling as though she would never be enough was too much for her to handle, and she couldn't move on to accomplish something that would fill the void in her life and fill her damaged soul.

This song reminded me of a story I read as a child. I forget where it's from but it goes like this:
There was a girl who always wore a black scarf on her neck. Her classmates asked why she never took it off. She said it was a secret. Soon she got older and had found a boyfriend. He asked why she never took it off, even in the Summer. Again, she said it was a secret. Time passed and now she was married and now lived with the man she was dating. The man was respectful and never asked about her scarf, so the topic was never brought up. The couple are now in their senior years and the girl is now very ill, but still wearing the same black scarf that the girl has worn for all her life. She is now on her deathbed and the husband is sitting with her. The man asks why she never took her scarf off. The girl says it was a secret. The man now furious that he will never know why rips the scarf off the girls neck. The girls head rolls off of the bed as the husband watches in fear. The reason why the girl never took it off is because that her head was disembodied at birth and the only way that it would stay on her neck was to hold it up with a black scarf.

To all confused (I have seen a couple of people confused) this song is sung by hatsune Miku. Hatsune miku is a computer generated singer who’s voice is someone who has said words (obviously paid) and then those words have been chopped up and auto tuned to sound unique. Just like any other vocaloid. Vocaloids are not just auto tuned voices they are broken apart to make more of a robotic and unique voice. Please understand that they are very distinct AI beings who are made to be different and to bring in a different atmosphere to the music industry. Only auto tune can’t begin to describe their dynamic existences!

I know something is wrong with me mentally, and while it’s not what is portrayed in this song, I can still make points of how I feel compared to what happens in the song. (I will probably edit this to add and remove points as time goes on.)

I can understand how this compares the thirst for attention and praise to a curse. I suffer from the compulsion to do anything and everything, and unless I give in, it can hurt and even manifest physically. People judge me for this and say it’s annoying, but I can’t help it.
The tone of the chorus and the necklace make me think of the voice in my head that causes me to have these compulsions in the first place. It’s aggressive and frantic.

All those words about how much it hurts resonate within me.
I’ve had this problem since I was born and it’s only gotten worse over time. The necklace staying the same as the wearer grows and becoming more painful could be compared to this.

I am painfully self aware, and good at communicating with myself, and the other voices in my head that get triggered by the compulsions will try to apologize as they end up worsening the problem when they get triggered.
The worst feeling is when two compulsions counter each other. If I do one, the other causes pain, and if I do the other, the one causes pain. (Unrelated to the song, but I just needed to add it in)

I feel like the clapping and bugs and often reoccurring mentioning of the curse is something that always catches my eye when watching this video. Obviously the curse could be interpreted as the curse of being perfect from her parents but the curse could also be due to the choker, mentioned first of the cursed necklace which signifies the start of the endless suffering that she would experience. I think of her feeling immense amounts of dopamine's from acceptance or feelings she gets from someone loving her or complimenting. From her confession to her parents, but this lead to an addiction almost saying it wasn't enough and she also doesn't want abandonment to happen to her which makes her suffer. This leads to her curse which from the bugs could be the feelings she gets when not complimented or such. Explains the butterflies and spiders that are often showed up in the middle of the song, and how she wants the curse to end and etc. What confuses me the most would be the clapping, since she claps away the demons or drawings of what looks to be a creature and parents next. Could this be her way of saying that these people all are not showing approval to her or could be but this isn't enough for her now and wants more. Also the erratic style of animation only makes me think that this is her consciousness almost and we are looking into it, a person that wants to be perfect, suffering from her own ideals that only wants more. Her greed is endless and feel that she suffers from schizophrenia, from the unclear thoughts she has near the middle and end part and throughout the song too. This is what I think whenever I listen to this song and this is my first time interpreting something so this may have holes and such but its fun to analyze these type of songs and if you want to pitch in go ahead I ill try to respond :3 also I will be doing this to a couple other songs see you readers there XD. BlackAisu well, the girl is being held captive by (i suppose) her parents. This could symbolise pressure they put on their child, demanding her to be perfect and all that. Perhaps the chorus "love me, love me, love me" is a plea for their recognition of that said "perfection" she's trying so hard to achieve.
Later in the song, as she grows up, she could be seeking for peer recognition.
On another note, I always thought that "the cursed necklace" represented loneliness. No matter what this kid does, she cannot get approved, she keeps getting neglected by her parents and peers.

But really, this necklace was a metaphor for her getting expectations from her parents. Rules she has to follow in order to get what she wants, love and affection. Bro this song is a bop, I've listened to like the first 13 seconds over and over again
After reading some other theories, although I don't think the others are wrong, I came up with what I think it may be about. I think it is about a girl who when she was littler, she was good at many things, often being praised. She wants to keep being praised and 'loved' and so she thinks she has to be perfect. She "won't lose to any one of her class" and confesses to someone she says is "so filthy" as she needs to have the 'perfect boyfriend' as well. The worry and anxiety are choking her. I also believe she thinks her parents want her to be perfect, too, and the showing of clapping and squishing them shows that. Notice how they explode, and how the father more than the mother? I think that the bigger the explosion shows how much influence they had, and the reason she's doing it in the first palace is because she doesn't want to let them down, but deep inside she know she can't be perfect, and she wished they/their expectations would go away. (Although I believe they expect no more than her best in reality.) And if you pause at 3:44, you'll she she's taken off her perfect mask to reveal herself and what she's really like.

In this case, the girl strives to become the best in anything, and everything. She wants to become this flawless figure in everyone's eyes, and that the necklace is a metaphorical term that embodies what her problems are to prevent her from doing so.
As the "necklace" chokes her, the small problems lead to bigger consequences as she derives past her sanity just to fulfil such ludicrous desires. This is also why she mentions things such as "Aishite, aishite, aishite", meaning "Love Me, Love Me, Love Me" or things like "Aren't I a cute child?", another similarity with BPD.
When she fell in love with the guy at school, she becomes beyond modest as her mental issue gets the best of her.

This song is about expectations. A girl who wants love from her parents but her parents would rather her do well in school. She doesn't get any love she desires from them. It's the same when she's older, the collar stays the same size just as what her parents want out of her doesn't change.The necklace are her parents expectations. "Am I a nice, cute child?" And "It hurts" is her asking for approval however her parents don't pay attention to her, the lack of love hurts.
