Friday Night Funkin' is a Newgrounds rhythm game made in HaxeFlixel originally created for Ludum Dare 47. Programmed by ninjamuffin99 with a soundtrack produced by Kawai Sprite and artwork created by PhantomArcade and evilsk8r, the game can be played on Newgrounds or played/downloaded for free on Itch.io.
The plot of the game centers around Boyfriend trying to hook up with Girlfriend, but her ex-rockstar father Daddy Dearest doesn't approve of him. It's up to Boyfriend to rap battle his way through him and anyone else that stands in his way so that he can finally get freaky! Think you got what it takes?
Friday Night Funkin' is an ongoing project that will continue to receive updates, bug fixes and new content. A full version of the game is currently in development, having been successfully funded via a Kickstarter campaign. Check the changelog here for information on the latest updates. My single favorite detail in the mod is that when Yourself, the red flicker around him is actually his own GF (Herself) clinging to him while shedding a tear, and revealing that Yourself has burnt angel wings. With what the devs have implied, the lyrical section is just Yourself asking for her to watch him win this rap battle. He really is just another BF, right down to doing it mostly for his girl.

First guy is called "Yourself" or "Billy", he isn't lookalike that's a separate character, Yourself is a version of Boyfriend who lost it all, his GF is dead, BF now talking to himself as if she was still there, trying to cope with losing her, suffering an incident that botched his body, he's a showing of BF losing it all and becoming lost and alone, the lyrics give the idea that he's desperate for validation from, someone, his GF, us, his counterpart, something, all he wants is to hear that they're proud of him, I personally take this as how far he's come and how he's still going despite being so broken, never gotten so emotionally invested in a character so fast, blud just wants to feel like he isn't bottom of the barrel anymore

He is look a like? Divide drew those sketches for a specific character named "Lookalike" Who saster wanted to help work on that character. It is also widely thought that LookALike is talking to Divide, his original creator. This is thought of because Divide lost his fight to cancer in his sleep. and here is LookALike calling out to him telling him to stay awake to see what he's become.

So, this guy in silly billy is called "yourself", and pretty much, he's a alternate version of bf, and in yourself's universe, gf (or, herself) died in a incident, and for some reason, yourself here is actually a FALLEN ANGEL, which is why he's so deformed, also, herself's shirt is actually UNDER yourself's shirt, and herself also became yourself's mic apperantly.
Fun and sad fact: apperantly the lyrics on 5:25 wasnt actually for boyfriend neither herself, but its for divide, yourself's creator, who sadly passed away from cancer during the development of sonic.exe 2.0.

@@sebastiancelaya1427From what I can glean about him, Divide was an artist working on team EXE (the people behind Sonic.EXE). This character is based on Divide's character that couldn't make it into v2. That part was made to give tribute as Divide sadly passed away to a heart attack

Nope. This is incorrect. This concept was made by Saster and Divide a few years back, and while I can't remember it off of the top of my head, This was not what happened. It's just an alternate universe which is similar to our Boyfriend's. Another thing worth mentioning is that "Yourself" isn't the guys name. It wsa originally going to be the songs name. But then, it was considered to be a name for him. But its widely thought his name is "Lookalike". BTW Girlfriend still exists in this universe, Seen at 5:42. Divide, one of the concept artist for "Lookalike" and "Faker/EXE" had lost his fight to cancer 3 years ago. He died in his sleep. So, I'd like to think that Lookalike is singing to his Creator, Divide.

If i know correctly, this is an alternative version of Bf called "Yourself." Where he was an angel. He then fell in love with a demon named "Herself" (Yourself's GF), where she died in an accident that i don't know myself. But after she died, she became Yourself's mic, and Yourself took his wings out. Making him a fallen angel, that's why he looks like that.
And the part of the lyrics. Those are both for his GF and his creator.

Just noticed that during the singing section, when you see Herself for a moment, the arrows ARE RED and youre playing her part. As the section ends, everything is blue because herself has completely passed on after (i think he finally made her proud) he used whats left of her spirit to battle BF. I LOVE THIS MOD.

@@littlebigconnorr Oh its fine! The secret songs are pretty mindblowing, not like anything you'd expect. I think you can TRY to use debug to get to them but it may not work. Maybe ask a dev for advice if you cant get anything to work!
@@PCCrasher42069I had fun though that one with the tri one wasn’t my favorite but the others were definitely amazing also rip divde they would have loved the silly billy song for their character.
@littlebigconnorr also check if you're on the current patch of the mod and not the release version, as it may be a glitch they've fixed in newer patches. New patches for both the mod and the 3d game are anticipated so if you think you should, you can wait a couple days for the prime Hit Singling.
Fun Fact during the Lyrics if you listen to the background you can hear Girlfriend singing in the background, which makes her silence after her brief appearance (that flash of red if you pause it is girlfriend crying while holding onto Yourself, who has burnt Angel wings) even more heart breaking.

The song is a tribute to both the mod and the original creator who sadly passed away at some point during 2020-2021. No one knows to what outside they are no longer with us.
NMI's Text at the end says "You'll do anything for the one you love"
Basically the lore of FakeBaby is NMI pretty much did the same thing DD did to the Spirit in week 6, but to Girlfriend; holding her hostage within his game and replacing her with a fake, in order to use her as leverage against DD to force DD to give NMI the ability to leave his game.
Despite DDs resistance throughout the song, NMI won. Because in the end, NMI knows he will do anything for his daughter. But Girlfriend is gone. That's why at the end it's an empty room, with nothing but NMIs final message and a flicker of DD as he mourns his lost child. There is no more innocence.

I don't see many people mentioning this so, Fun fact: The BF from Silly Billy (Who is called "Yourself" or the name of the song itself) is not a evil reflection or exe, he is actually a AU BF that lost it all, his GF (JKnown as "Herself") died in a unkown incident, and the BF couldn't cope and went insane, not taking care of himself, thus making him look like he does, his universe probably being gone entirely too. (Now remember, a lot of this might be unoficial and incorrect, but he is a AU BF, it was confirmed.)
Also, in the lyric part, the red effect is "Herself"'s soul hanging onto "Yourself/Silly Billy".
The crazy thing is that according to lore, Yourself is the BF from the Mario Madness mod but if he survived, he's not a faker, he's just almost dead, zombie-like.
Also the reason the icon bar and note colors all disappeared is because the red fire is GF which he let's go of kinda, so her color went with her.

Yourselfs (Silly billy)'s lines werent just for girlfriend. they were for the late divide (may he rest well).
The rest mist we saw during his cutscene was his version of girlfriend (Herself) who died in his reality. However her spirit resides (Resided) inside Yourselfs Mic. Which is why during the intro cutscene it goes from glowing red to pitch black

Quick lore for Joyous, NOT Triachel, that’s different lore, but in that AU Lord X escaped virtual reality and ends up going after his creator to end him. I’m not fully sure why, but it’s assumed that he succeeds in doing so.

The reason people are freaking over the Song silly billy is because it also serves as a tribute to divide the original creator of the character in the song Yourself who unfortunately passed away while he was working on Vs Sonic.exe V2
There are subtle differences in the mirror when boyfriend looks at it before Yourself comes out of it. In the mirror, the reflection's shoes are untied. The reflection also had a subtle smile, whereas bf has a neutral face. The reflection also has eyebags, and his hair is messier than bf's. Also, the reflection's shoes also have a tear from where the part of the tounge connects to his shoe. (The guy is blocking the respective spot on Bf, but if you go look at yourself it isn't there.) If you don't understand, the reflection's shoes have 3 separations, while bf only has the 2 on the tounge of his shoe.

I really love this mod, it's overall fantastic. The new background and other smaller changes to Darnell Wet Fart are nice imo, except for the charting, which doesn't feel and look as great, but still works good.

Story for this: we know that girlfriend died, but didn’t know how and for a split second the mic turns red like the top and that is caused by girlfriend spirit roaming around it and for a split second we can see her around the mirror boyfriend I’ll make you proud part is actually him saying I’ll make you proud to girlfriend, although it is better that he moves on, but it seems like he can’t anyways it starts at 5:25 and ends at 6:09 to the girlfriend part 5:43 plz give heart ❤️

Another detail is at 5:43 where the red figure that appears for a split second is actually herself's soul
And if you noticed, after the lyrical part, the red notes disappear which shows that herself's soul is finally freed.
That's all I have to say, this song is really peak and I wanted to cry just learning the lore and hearing the lyrics, this song is just something else, and I'm happy that it brought back many people from the fnf community.
