+Ga. Rob & Terrie Thanks Guys ... Yeah that thing is more than a little mind boggling to hold and think on what was going on back when It was in use ...
Ga. Rob & Terrie AHHHHahahaha ... Not for long he didn't ... came and picked it back up already ... but Monday it's got an Appointment for X-Rays ... can't wait ...
Unreal! I always love seeing original hafted artifacts, they solve a lot of mysteries, especially for us replica folks. Enjoyed seeing the other bone/ivory artifacts too.
Great to see something for ya PM, what an amazing artifact ya started with, over the years, I've found several small bladey artifacts, always with a sheen like coating at one end, was told early on the sheen was remnants of asphaltum, tried to imagine what the handle of the tool looked like, your visual just slapped me silly!!! Great array of of bone tools, I could probably count on one hand the number I've found over the years.l
+greatbasinman Hahaha Hey Buddy, I always appreciate the colorful anecdotes and fun thoughts you come up with... But frankly I'm SHOCKED and flattered to think I may have come up with more, in one category of artifact finds than the undisputed hands down Big Dog Slayer of artifacts on the West Coast ...LOL .. Cause you smoke me in at least the first five categories I can think of, off the top of my head for damn sure ...lol But seriously someday I'd like to see you make a video showing slow great views of every atlatl spur you have with your best guess thoughts on them ... Another of just all your Crescents and thoughts on them .... Another of just all your Lake Mojaves.... and lastly one of all your Charmstones, Plummets and/or religiously, ceremonially or symbolically oriented pieces as well ... No small order, Right ??? LOL
Get out of Town!!...Sick video, PMan!!! Love the tools and the talk!...I know a guy who hunts with antler arrowheads very similar to the one you showed. Amazing artifacts, Dude!....Ben
Amazing artifact ! The hafted scraper is a mind blower in this day and age ! Very interesting assemblage of bone artifacts/tools . Thanks for the look and narrative . I enjoyed the vid.---Butch
I am amazed right now! WOW! I have saw several of these remade but NEVER EVER a full REAL live artifact. How much did they charge you for it? Just WOW.
That is just such a cool find...no amazing find and your such a lucky dog for acquiring it !Maybe it was coated with grease or something to keep the wood from rotting ??? Your scenario sounds a little more feasible, but either way cool ! Thanks for the show of the bone awls and such...the big one is bada** ! Bone tools are so cool, but unfortunately our conditions don't allow finding them very often.Cool vid Bud !
You lucky dawg! Man that is as good as it gets. As you may know, I'm a real fan of scrapers and think they are underrated. I was looking in Overstreet's (14th edition + previous editions) a while back, and saw that in the Alaska section there are a number of really cool ( make that phenomenal) hafted scrapers in bone etc. It would be cool if you were able to get the handle tested to see what that surface covering is, and also xrayed/CT scanned(?) to see what the whole scraper looks like within the wood. Sooo glad you posted that ....... did I mention you were a lucky dawg? LOL! Take care.
+David Straub Thank you and I plan on making follow up Vids as we discover new cool stuff about this thing ... I like the backstory science part of it as much or more than the piece itself ...
+David Straub BTW I have tons of more very cool Scrapers I've never shown much on YT ... I think we need a Best Of Your Best Scrapers Challenge ... LOL ... Those Challenges we used to do were fun ...
that hafted scraper is awesome to be found the way they made it .I've read where some arrows had been found in a real dry over hang .and very nice show of them bone and ivory tools take care p m
+Jeff Bodean Yep Jeff, I have actually seen at least 3 sets of arrows found in dry caves/overhangs here locally. Only one had any sinew or cordage wrapped around the points to hold them in besides the tar ... Apparently that tar did a hell of a job as superglue ...
+WAGONJON Haha hey Waggers, you're almost always the first to comment on my new vids ... You're really on top of everything or need to go out and GET A LIFE !!! One ot the other ... BWAHhhhahahaha ... Jus joshing ya Buddy ... But you are oh so right ... Man I'd love to talk someone who does X-Rays into doing that ... Maybe my dentist ??? lol But I will definitely look into that ... I'm almost positive I have several flint scrapers that should match this one in here almost exactly ....
+tuledude89 Hahaha yeah wasn't he that guy just a few years back asking about every dumb question short of which end of the arrow you shot at stuff ??? Now look at him ... Knaps better than both of of combined, then goes out and kicks that Tuledude fella's ass hunting points ... Who-da-thunk-it ??? lol

A-amazing scraper with a very cool story. Great bone tools as well. We have a tool that we think is bone but it is black. Do you know if they ever charred bone tools? or maybe it is made of something else?

I swear I betcha I've told stories and posted pics on FB about them, once a week since the day I opened your box !! Of course I lie my ass off and tell everyone I FOUND THEM !!!
