This is a remarkable conversation that connected so many dots. It helped me understand the "how and why" behind neural circuit dizziness as well as the path to recovery.

My experience of memory reconsolidation alone, without the somatic piece, is that it didn't work for me, but I'm excited to listen to this, and maybe integrating both could be interesting 😊

I've suffered with chronic dizziness for 5 years. The symptoms got worse last weeks. I tried all the tools I've learned, but my brain never used to be at earth gravity. I know I am missing a piece.... also, it's hard to find good therapists here in Brazil😢

Your words for me are always so worthy dr Yo, i always do what you say because only you understand what im going through, so today with my cbt therapist i made a whole memory reconsolidation about all my life and i cried, she then diagnosed me with general anxiety, trauma and told me thats the case of my symptoms! but now what to do next? take medication!

I think of neural networks like little constellations - but when we bring awareness to it, there’s ways to reconnect the dots to form a different picture:
    Dots
    Data points
    Dot to dot
    Fixed? Hypothetically
    Even so-
You Connect the dots with your own hand dot to dot
Creating the shape of a broken heart
    Ог...
    Orions belt
Or... a kitty sleeping in the sun Sometimes it's all three

Somatic tracking is the DIY method (one of…) along with understanding the stress bucket concept, building routines, self care, exercise, diet, sleep… but ‘feel it to heal it’ is the main thrust… (correct me if I’m wrong !)

I am very interested in this-as I need to relate to the fear differently and I have been asking this question the entire time-as THAT is the biggest thing that is unanswered-so, I will order that book you mentioned, and ask my therapist about this process- if she can help me with this-which it seems impossible to find here-IFS, etc. and when you find one, they are booked for ever and ever and can't get you in. Thank you so much again. I'm doing very well, which is fabulous, thanks to Dr. Yo. Still, if I have an "vestibular occurrence" again, wonder how I will handle it-not sure.

    • @TheSteadyCoach
      @TheSteadyCoach  7 місяців тому +1

Hey Shelley! The book really isn’t one I’d recommend for people who aren’t psychologists or neuroscientists. There’s very little in there in the way of guidance for people going through this. I’d recommend Loving Like You Mean It and Living Like You Mean It. Much more accessible.

    Bonjour Dr Yo,

Good evening. I have been diagnosed with Menieres Disease, by my ENT. Would you suggest that I go get vestibular testing? I’ve heard mixed reviews on the testing so I’m curious of your opinion. I’m new to the channel but have quickly grown to love your advice.

    • @TheSteadyCoach

    • @TheSteadyCoach

Depends! What did your brain learn from it? That’s why people with past traumas are more vulnerable to new ones- their brains already “know” the world is an unsafe place so they will quickly learn from new events that they’re dangerous too.

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed-or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
