- Guide to operating the new 2020 RDX Touchpad. The touchpad is considered to be a much safer option over the Touch screen found in most vehicles. The display is located in your line of sight while driving where as a touch screen is hard to operate without taking your eyes off the road totally.
This video will go over basic functions of the touch pad and how to operate the most popular apps available.

I have a Masters Degree in Computer Science and designed, developed and managed software development for 30 years. After owning a 2020 RDX for four months I can comfortably say that this is the ABSOLUTE worst interface that I have ever used. I have owned Audis with their MMI and various other vehicles and I am a huge Acura fan. Again, other than the fact that my wife wanted to stay in the RDX line, I would have never purchased this vehicle with this crappy tech stack. Btw, using Apple Car Play does not solve the poor touchscreen, main screen UI.
Totally agree. Absolutely asinine system. Let’s invent a system where you have to guess where on a pad to touch and look at the screen hoping you got it right. And you aren’t spending less time looking at the screen so the “safety” claim is a joke. Notice that nothing he tried to write on the pad worked. What a shame. I had such hope for this car.

@@Dochorahanspent a few dollars more you cheap skate and buy an Audi and get a real user interface. Oh, it's hard for you to do that on a minimum wage job.
I know this won't be a popular opinion but after car hunting as a tech lover, I literally gave up on the RDX because of the lack of touchscreen. In this day and age it is almost counterintuitive to have a touchpad and is really not any safer when your fumbling down there. As stated it's not even a traditional touchpad so it's essentially having to learn a whole new user interface. Hard pass.
I’m car shopping in this segment, and this video is a big help on understanding why this display has had so many negative reviews. Even switching from my favorite AM talk show to a Syrius XM broadcast and then maybe want to check a local FM broadcast looks like a big hassle. The screen is obviously slow. You can’t get a full screen navigation map. I’ll still test drive an RDX, but now I understand much better the screen is not designed with me in mind. I also don’t get why the driving mode control is the big central knob. I bet most people put it in comfort and never touch it again. But that’s another RDX issue that makes no sense. It does seem like a nice vehicle and is very price competitive. But that screen..........
Switching between modes and stations can be as fast as talking into the voice recognition. Honda went in a different direction and people usually hate what they don't understand. Every time Microsoft releases a new Windows version, people lose their minds. Same thing here. After a short period of familiarization, this system becomes second nature. Most complaints come from people who don't know the system.
Totally agree. As someone shopping this class, I loved the test drive but the driving mode and navigation led me to look for other options. Really a shame.
I’m with you. Seems like a great car with the BIG exception being that ridiculous infotainment system. And yes, why waste the biggest knob on a function people will barely ever use? What a moronic user interface design.
The touch pad is clunky to work with. If a computer chip inside goes ka-blewy you'll lose control of everything. takes half an hour to dig through menus to find speaker balance and fade. I couldn't believe there was no way to lower that screen that sticks up, or close it once you have everything the way you liked. It sticks up just waiting to be hit by something and broken. I imagine it also blocks vision for smaller people. Overall impression: Too computer dependent for everything, too hard to move around the interface: FAIL!
Wow, whatta dumb system. How is it safer than a simple touch
screen? It’s like to ask a person to rub his tummy and pat his head at the same

Instead of just touch a button, you have to rub and pat it when
you’re driving. I was thinking to buy RDX, but when I realized what they’ve
done - no f-king way.
It would be nice If it the screen slid up when the car comes on and once it’s off the screen goes back down

Hello, I need help with my 2019 Acura RDX base when I pair my iPhone to the Apple play then I make a call the caller cannot hear me but I can hear the caller. Could someone please help me with this? Thank you, Tammy
A solution to a problem that doesn't exist. The look down, view of the road argument is baseless. The biggest problem is that CarPlay is designed to be used with a touch screen, & so the mix of the Acura system & CarPlay confuses & frustrates the user.
just bought an rdx- love the vehicle but this is such a crappy system. I get how it all works but nothing straight forward about it and it's a pain in the ass. Put in a friggin touchscreen and save us all these headaches!

On touchpad B the nav always comes up first. I would like the clock to come up firsy. How?

There is 8. You have to swipe over. I forget if its left or right but swip the bottom of the touchpad and you will see the option to add 4 more.
You did not show how to get to keyboard, that I watched this video to the end, somewhat disappointed.
Does the 2020 infotainment still lag to boot up on start up?
All systems lag to some degree, this is a relatively short delay

I have only 2 favorites on the 1st screen . How do I add more to that screen . I already have 4 favorites on the second screen .
Nice presentation but of an absolutely terrible system. This was looking like a strong candidate for my next car until I saw that infotainment system. It’d be hard to design anything more obtuse. And I thought Lexus’ system was bad. Just rip out this system and replace it with the Accord’s system and be done with it. Way to chase away 90% of perspective buyers.

My Mexican RDX has KM/H as the default on the speedometer. Is it possible to switch the speedometer to MPH as the primary speed indicator?

How to you get to the second page of the home screen? The 2 small dots on the bottom of the home page indicate you are on the first page. How do you get to the second page? I would like to use a usb stick for music but I don't know how to get to the second page that makes that choice available and the manual is very vague. Also, how do you choose an AM radio station which is probably also on the second page? Thanks
You just swipe the center of the touchpad side to side to toggle between the two screens.
Great video. I have a question. I have all my music on a flash drive. Would I be able to use my flash drive and connect my android phone at the same time?
yes. underneath the console there is an open space that has a power outlet and a USB connection. Also there is a USB connection inside the center arm rest.
