Meh, all this "Oh poor Riven!" Completely ignores the evil nature of the Ahamkara. To quote "My joy of turning desire to woe." There is no redeeming facet of the Ahamkara.
I love the idea of the Ahamkara but their designs are just awful. They could have been beautiful creatures but instead we get a rat tiger with a mess of claws, teeth, and weird kaiju skull.
Is this a retcon? I thought Mara only had one Ahamkara and that tne egg uldren brought her was really rare. Here it looks like a bunch of ahamkara used to live in the dreaming city.
No, the dreaming city hosting a ton of Ahamkara at one point has been in the lore since 2018. I think there are a few lore cards on it and the patrol missions talk about it too. Riven's mate was never mentioned before though, at least by that name.
Mara had no clue that riven had a clutch, even a mate. She thought riven was the last “known” ahamkara. Riven stated that before the great hunt ahamkara used to visit and roam the dreaming city hence how riven found taranis
I told everyone they aren't evil... but everyone is too wrapped up in the fact they were doing "good" or that they would be better not to listen to her. That she is still the one who was taken, and worked with them... yet, here we are. Turns out, just like the fallen, greed befell the first generation guardians, and thus wipped a sentient species from the face of the galaxy/universe. As they had almost done to many others undeserving of such brutality. I feel the only ones deserving were the Hive, for obvious reasons, and the Cabal, since they were a warrior race, and thus would see more good in such actions against them, and see it as a challange. But the fallen, who weren't there to fight nor wanted any real trouble at first... the Ahamkara who were living peacefully, and even originally being semi hostile and unfriendly to the Awoken... it just seems obvious who was more evil than any other, its no wonder the Traveler wanted to have Savathun wisk it away into her thrown world to escape. Those who think the traveler was being tricked, it had all the power it needed to escape her throne world, we see what it can do when it readies itself for combat against targets it doesn't like. But it didnt, meaning it was clearly allowing it to happen as even if Savathun was going to conduct experiments onto it. What it would sustain from them would be nothing compared to the witness catching it. Just dont tell Saint, I feel like he'd literally torture himself more than he already does if he knew the pain he caused to everyone and thing from the past. Since he not only participated in said hunt, but is likely one of the few guardians who contributed so many of those skulls to the pile. If he knew that when he genocided another species that just like the fallen he was causing nothing but grief, pain, misery, loss, and destroying a family who was happier before his arrival... bro would probably end himself, even with the help of Osiris being back. At the very least, he'd likely take his own light away from himself, as atonement.
Bro the ahamkara were just trying to exist 😭. They didn't deserve their fate. It was the wishes they granted that made them dangerous. But it's in their nature. It's was they were born to do.
…this… makes me wish this game was an actual RPG with dragons wandering around. This was great lore. …instead we get to spend a year chasing a space emo that is less interesting than most of the characters we’ve gotten in the preceding ten years.
Honestly, the entire narrative is harmed by tied to a live service game. Like, have you seen the concept art for Calus, Rhulk, and Nezarec? Calus was supposed to fucking SUMO CLAP US. Spill a fucking goblet, be a full on mighty brawler and shit! And Rhulk had so many martial arts moves cut! And Nezarec was supposed to wrap up into a shape resembling the Nezarec's Sin helmet and shit, like, I couldn't even properly tell what I was seing but I thought it was fucking awesome! Can you imagine how amazing it would have been to see even MORE Disciples? Instead of the two brief years we got with them before Final Shape, which Eramis, Fikrul, and Xivu Arath got shelved for, had them be like actual antagonists around throughout the narrative to oppose us and characterise the Witness?
Wait a moment. So they can choose to be unironic in the wishes they grant. Just almost all ahamkara traditionally choose to play the djinn thing because that way they maintain a difference between reality and desire. But if you roll like Taranis did then you are going to get a lot more business from wishers since they not longer need to be so cautious about it. He'd have been able to win on volume. It looks like a classic game theory trap-fueled vicious cycle that the ahamkara got themselves stuck in with the whole squeezing every wish for the most difference between desire and reality they could strategy. But that then cost them business and eventually led to the great hunt. If all the players had played it altruistic they'd have been much better off. Which probably goes back to Riven's comment about how ahamkara were always too isolated and not social creatures, non cooperative creatures by nature. She realized the mistake after seeing Taranis' alternative it seems. But then why did she stay the course?
It sounds like there’s a downside to it? She said he had to sacrifice for it. Granting wishes is how they feed, so he was probably basically starving himself in the process.
For those who don't want to read the lore (there's a lot), the Ahamkaras were never evil, represented a threat, or had malevolent intentions. They were just sentient beings living their lives freely, just like anyone else in the universe. It was the greed of humanity (mostly) and other species that made wishes dangerous. Even when they knew that no matter what their wish was, it would end in a tragic ending. They deserve a second chance, and if it happens, I hope it is far far away from humanity.
Nope, I still feel nothing for her, lol. She killed Cayde, almost killed us, took the Techeuns, aided Oryx AND Savathun, cursed the Dreaming City, and now has the gaul to ask something of us.
@@ironladyerimuthIkr? I’d be just as spiteful as she is if that happened to me, and I guarantee many of the people that hate Riven would be just as bad, if not worse than she is in her boots.
You do realize she was under oryx’s influence right? He took her but only left her half of her free will. We murdered her species and even killed some of her corrupted children. Yes she aided in murdering cayde but that was because of oryx’s influence which led to savathun taking the will and using her to bring the curse. So you can thank savathun for that. Savathun asked for a wish and she granted it because that’s how they feed and stay alive. Without that they slowly wither away to nothing

Even when destiny writes something cool I can’t help but he angry because we are still playing in a boring world that keeps telling us how magical and crazy the world was maybe 40 years ago. It was abundant in a true magical science fiction away and now it’s just cabal , hive , fallen, vex, zombie fallen and taken versions of all of the formers. It’s so sad . I keep coming back to peek at the story but I always remember how destiny was promised to us when it hadn’t released yet. Like damn we could have had a Skyrim style stories and variety once maybe. Actual mystery and unlocking guns and parts and armor instead of the generic stuff we got now
"Those who bargained with him, were safe."
I got out. I got out and now these bastards are dragging me back in!!
Meh, all this "Oh poor Riven!" Completely ignores the evil nature of the Ahamkara. To quote "My joy of turning desire to woe." There is no redeeming facet of the Ahamkara.
Well if they bring the eggs back to the Dreaming City, won't the final selfless wish/sacrifice of Taranis be able to counter Riven's curse.
Finally, a good cutscene.
God damit every time i think im out something like this happens and i have to login and catch up
This whole cutscene made me incredibly sad and then I cried when I read the bow's lore tab
So we destroyed something genuine and beautiful..... Dammit...
Yup and.mfers are in here defending it disgraced to the vanguard
Taranis was the exception, having a bunch of Ahamkaras running around is like having a bunch of nukes with a press me sticker on the launch button
Taranis was too good for this world, atleast he wasn't hunted down like the others
He was probably the only truly good ahamkara in destiny
Riven keeping guardians employed for the next century after they defeat the witness.
It has very strong Simba and Nala vibes
He took the kids
So we’re the bad guys here
Yes
Not exactly
Always have been
Yup
No
My homie ruined this cutscene by yelling, "Ahamkussy confirmed"
wow that made me tear up holy shiiit
No I'm not sobbing, you are, guardians don't cry but, please, did you how happy she was? The peace she's found?
Perhaps we need to make a choice
To be the Wish-Keeper
or the Wish-Ender
Unfortunate that the Last City and guardians killed the one AHAMKARA that wasn’t cursing and monkey pawing folks
The background music to this is beautiful. I wonder what track this is from?
I bet he made a great gun
Kinda shows how messed up the guardians were before
Rivin Fugged 🥵
Taranis the chad dragon
So we basically hunt them all even the good ones? That's actually kinda sad
no one
absolutely no one
taranis: 🗿🗿🗿
Reminds me of organic form of ligers, from gundam
Bro is that Lord Saladin looking over all those Ahamkara skulls?
Yes, he and the Iron Lords participated in the Great Hunt
Gosh dang Riven
That's a lot of missed potential on the design part. Ahamkaras can literally turn into whatever they want, and yet, they're all Rivenlike
you know I feel pretty bad now, and also, Damit Shax, why did you have to kill them?
You should check the video about his monologue on the new dungeon
We forgetting how Ahamkaras are deceivers by nature, it's like having a bunch of nukes roaming around waiting for a drunk to press the launch button
So is Taranis the Ahamkara we killed in the savathun throne world.
Wooooooo more generic seasonal story!!!!!!!!! Yippeeeee🤩🤩🤩
This makes me sad.
did i just watch 2 dragons fuck
So, how is the bow a strand weapon?
Probably because strand means to let everything flow freely without control unlike void which could represent taranis being strand and riven void
Sounds romantic
nice bungie
I love the idea of the Ahamkara but their designs are just awful. They could have been beautiful creatures but instead we get a rat tiger with a mess of claws, teeth, and weird kaiju skull.
I like the designs tbh
@@Styanax960yeah it looks very alien. And it kinda fits for Space Dragons in my opinion
Well shit
Now i feel a little bad for riven
On the contrary
The dreaming city is fucked thanks to her
What is that ost
Someone remind me why the great hunt happened ?
The consensus (leaders of the last city, the vanguard, the factions, the speaker etc) declared that they were too dangerous to live
Ahamkaras were too dangerous to live
Ahamkara made the black garden 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔????
Great cutscene. Below mediocre game
Way to spoil the story in the title
cool lore video I didn't even have to pay for it.
same
Is this a retcon?
Bungue stoooooop! Humanizing such eldritch creatures like the ahamkaras is not it :/
I told everyone they aren't evil... but everyone is too wrapped up in the fact they were doing "good" or that they would be better not to listen to her.
Locked behind a pay wall, ni thanks, im glad i stop playing after riso of banana
Bro the ahamkara were just trying to exist 😭. They didn't deserve their fate. It was the wishes they granted that made them dangerous. But it's in their nature. It's was they were born to do.
You should watch Byf's series on the Ahamkara. A few were down right evil.
Make better wishes is what riven told crow
With Bungie being so woke I am surprised that they didn’t make Riven gay, and half black and half chinese.
Zavala is voice by a blacken so is savathun etc Osiris and Saint are gay so is Mara and sjur tf you talking bout
Define woke for me
@@manniebradley3768Zavala being voiced by a black guy is fine racist
What is woke about being biracial
kid doesn’t know, just using buzz words.
😢
L+Get Hunted+Your Boyfriend Died Lol
:)
Nope, I still feel nothing for her, lol. She killed Cayde, almost killed us, took the Techeuns, aided Oryx AND Savathun, cursed the Dreaming City, and now has the gaul to ask something of us.
And? We murdered her whole species, and you expected her to be reasonable?
@@ironladyerimuthIkr? I’d be just as spiteful as she is if that happened to me, and I guarantee many of the people that hate Riven would be just as bad, if not worse than she is in her boots.
We prior to this we did wipe out almost thier entire species sooo..
@@ironladyerimuth Don't care she killed Cayde
lore reveals 2 years ago: "ok don't tell him but banshee is the rebel clone of clovis bray, thats why he somehow knows how all of tecnology works even if he can't remember much"

Fuck this childish game, i quit this fuckery
Wtf is it with these fake ass cutscenes? Once upon a time we had 5 minute long cutscenes that were amazing, AKA the Taken King. Wtf is this?
Well it’s a season cutscene, idk what you expected. Plus I like its art direction.
@@rakionyellowmind2293 uh a..... Actuall cutscene?
@@rakionyellowmind2293 you named precisely why the revenue dropped by 50% in that one sentence, dragged out, worthless season system, and therefore a fake ass cutscene... Then saying because it is a season what you except..
Tell me, when has the season model dropped a cutscene in the middle of the season. The beginning of it, yeah we have seen it (I think) and the ending of it. These art pieces build a story that is both cost effective and they actually look nice.
@@rakionyellowmind2293 so nice their revenue dropped by 50%. As Asmongold always says if you support a bad game, you deserve a bad game.
Ahamkussy
I'd love me some of that brother
Finally, a good cutscene.
