Medicines - Acetazolamide / Diamox to prevent breathing problems.
Diamox dosage:
Start on a dosage of 125 mg every 12 hours 2 days prior to your trek. Increase it to 250 mg every 12 hours from the day you get to the base camp and continue until you complete the trek.
Coca 6 or Coca 9 Homeopathic Meds (duluted) to be taken in case of Altitude sickness.
Dispirin/ Aspirin for headache relief.
PCM 650 upto thrice a day(fever, body ache, head ache)
Pan 40/Omez 20(acidity, fullness, 'gas', with PCM or any painkiller)
Cetrizine 10m once daily (allergy)
O2 or Brake (anti diarrhoeal) : three times a day for three days. (Finish full course or the drug will be ineffective from next time)
Ondem SOS (anti vomiting)
Azithral 500 once daily for 3 days (any cough/pneumonia/sore throat)

Brother, lot of, LOT of hard work in making this informative and visually appealing. One question: i spoke to a local today and he stated that the pass, if done from Mangan, by yourself can be done pretty much in an hour. Needs a notary affidavit done in advance though if using a rented bike. Am i going off, on this suggestion?
not at all.. try and talk to gudduji or his manager when you stay at mangan... they will help you get permits without any issues at all...

Hi one Living Living life, i am from sikkim , small suggestion , In place of staying at okhrey and suggesting for Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary
, you may also suggest for namchi - a lovley Place , where You can come directly from siliguri via melli (मल्ली ) ,and yes it have good road . from here you may go to pelling. From pelling may go to Khecheopalri Lake which is approx 2 hour journey .

But, there's a lot of uncertainity on whether you will get the permits or not...

My husband and I are planning a Sikkim ride in late-October and I would appreciate if you could help us with some queries:
1) If we want to go to Gangtok via the Old Silk Route, is there any place we can get the permits? I read somewhere that we can get permit for Old Silk Route from Rongli SDPO - however that does NOT include a permit for Nathu La pass, which is available only from Gangtok. Is that correct?
2) Is it possible to get jerry cans for fuel in Gangtok?
3) Do you know of any bike rental agencies in Bagdogra? Also what would be the estimate rental range for a 500CC bike, say, Bullet?

+Pallavi Ail I hope others would also benefit from this video. So, please share it. Now, your answers:
1. Getting Permit from Rongli is possible BUT, due to some unrest in the region, permits have been deterred a few times (as I heard from fellow riders). Not sure about Nathu La permits from Rongli. But, from Gangtok you can get permita from all places for sure. I suggest, plan from Gangtok.
2. You can get Jerry cans from Siliguri also.
3. Already listed some rental places in the video.

Man! Every bit of it was detailed. Wish I'd seen something like this before to have a hassle free ride! Nevertheless, this is going to help 1000's of motorcycle enthusiasts out there.
I do remember your ride towards Gurudongmar! I've also seen other riders facing the same issue few metres before entering Gurudongmar as the vehicle will exhibit an odd behavior. Motorcyclists spend not more than 10 minutes at the lake, as they can't turn off the engines. Is there a fix for this?
+Iways But, why can't motorcycles turn off their engine!!! Carb engines should rather turn off!!
Yeah, it should turn off but I've been told by many that your machine becomes unpredictable. Some couldn't turn off the engines citing start issues on return. I hope you're doing the Ladakh tour now. Ride safe

We are going to ride on total 6bikes,8people. Can you plz tell how much petrol should we carry after refueling all bikes at mangan? We will cover gurudongmar n zero point and will come back to mangan which will be around 450kms of journey. Please reply
depends on ur mileage, tank capacity etc. but in general 5 liter fuel for every motorcycle will be a safe bet.

charges r more if u r alone... big groups can split their charges... i was charged around 1000 xtra... solo...
later sum of my subs bargained down to 600 per bike... they were 8 bikes together...

Can you help me with an estimated budget if i ride from kolkata. I will be riding a classic 350.. And there will be a pillion rider. This will ba great help
