Do you think the Tudor GMT is an alternative to the Rolex 'Pepsi' GMT?

Great video. I have owned 2 Rolex GMT’s for years, but always annoyed that they aren’t depth rated to more than 100m. I never dive that deep, but never want a leak. I’ve had the Tudor GMT for about 1 1/2 years, and find I’m not using my Rolex GMT’s. Bravo!

Hi. I have this GMT and yesterday I purchased this NATO strap as I found the steel bracelet heavy and not very comfortable. The new strap has transformed the watch as it is so comfortable and so much lighter. Best £149 I have ever spent!

I just bought this on Saturday. I travel a lot and appreciate the GMT functions and the history of it. I initially wanted the black fabric strap because of the matching colors and I like natos, but went with the leather because it distributes the weight better on my wrist. The fabric is thin and you can feel the top heavy case. In addition, the leather can be dressed up more than the fabric. I absolutely love the watch, it definitely gives you an aura feeling, especially if you’ve done countless hours of research and know you made the right purchase.

Absolutely adore mine, for a medium and up sized wrist it’s a great casual / sports / swimming / travel watch with plenty of presence (advantage of being a little chunky) that can still look classy in the office.

I found the bracelet a little heavy for every day wear. So I did opt as well for the fabric strap. I use the fabric strap like a NATO (do not connect the spring bars). This way, I can change straps much easier. I find the most comfortable straps (for all watches) are the single pass RAF straps, sold as an example by CheapNatoStraps. I like the single wide fabric keeper, great fit. IMO, regular NATOs (double pass) are too thick for this majestic beast.

just purchased one two weeks ago, and still over the moon. Love the steel, am experimenting with rubber and leather (waiting for some OEM Tudor deployment clasps) but would not consider the fabric/nato. But the watch is such is just fabulous. I would never EVER consider a Rolex, but this was a no-brainer.

I bought one a little over 2 weeks ago with the steel bracelet. I prefer the steel bracelet. To me it looks better with the bezel colours. I don’t think it is an alternative to the Rolex Pepsi though. If I had spare change right this moment, I’d go for the Batman even at a premium to retail. My other watches are the Rolex GMT 116710LN and the Tudor BB S&G with the leather strap.

Congratulations on your new Tudor GMT and on your existing collection.
In an ideal world you would have the Tudor GMT and the Rolex GMT to get the best of both worlds. Or would a vintage Rolex GMT do the job of both? 🤔

I bought my Tudor gmt as I have always lusted after Rolex gmt, however the prospect of having 3 Rolex watches in my box would make me a Rolex zombie so my choice of Tudor injects more variety to my pieces. I have a policy of 2 per brand and the money saved have been put to work, it’s a no brainier. The quality of the movement is on the par as a Rolex, the price is such a give away with the only downside the chunky case but sits well on my small wrist.

Good video, this watch is best on the leather due to the dimensions. If the date wheel issue did not exist this watch would be sold out everywhere but it does so it's a no from me. I just wear two watches if I need to efficiently track two time zones.

Great video. The Tudor GMT was one of my favourites and had most wrist time amongst other watches in my collection including Rolex & Omega. It's a beautiful watch and I have several strap options making it one of the most versatile watches I own. Unfortunately I suffered the infamous date wheel issue requiring my watch to be sent off. After doing some research into the defect, it seems that some owners have suffered the same issue twice or even three times. Once I get my watch back, I'll likely sell it and I'll never buy another Tudor. There should be a disclaimer to all potential GMT buyers, that you are purchasing knowing full well that you may suffer the defect at some point during your ownership. Very poor job from Tudor.

You’ll never see a Pepsi ‘58 the way you think. Rolex won’t have it. Tudor will add a gilt dial, an all black bezel, or any number of left hooks to keep it from being the “Pepsi” in the manner everyone is hoping for. I’m sad about this too.

    POOR MANS ROLEX!!! REALLY?!
I tell you what I like about Tudor, it's got so much character and such a great price point for a luxury watch.
It's so much nicer on the fabric strap and alot more comfortable for everyday wear, even though it's a 41m it actually looks alot smaller on the fabric strap.

I don't like the Rolex GMT, the bezel numbers are way too large, hours markers too big, and Rolex engraved rehaut makes it look too conspicuous & flamboyant to say the least, it feels like too many things going on there - while the Tudor GMT looks much more redefined and elegant for a watch that is half the price and available at every AD.

You are absolutely correct.... I'm in when a Class Action Lawsuit in filed on the Tudor Black Bay GMT. Tudor has been selling this watch since 2018 with a known movement defect and continues to sell it. Mine started jumping two days at a time at 6 months and has been at the Rolex Service Center in Dallas since March 15th 2020. The expected repair time is another 8-12 weeks so 5-6 months .

Ridiculous height and slab sided badly designed case. Never mind Tudor being made to play the availability game by the owners -Rolex.
