    This the Amazon listing for the bulbs fitted in this video
    www.amazon.co....
    OSRAM make upgrade bulbs for most cars including those with xenons, to find out which bulbs you need, visit this product finder app;
    www.osram.de/a...
    In this video I show you how to upgrade the headlight bulbs on a Mk5 Golf using Osram Night Breaker Laser headlight bulbs.
    Luckily the designers considered that bulbs would need replacing so it's very easy for a DIY owner to do this. I show you how to do it (in one take!) and also show you the difference between the original bulbs and the new Osrams, both while stationary and on the road.
    I've used German made Osram bulbs for years in my own cars and having done some work with them for VW Driver magazine last year, I asked them to supply the bulbs for this video which they did free of charge. I didn't get paid for making it - £40 worth of bulbs for making a video like this isn't worth doing unless I enjoy the process and helping people out, which luckily do :)

      Try adjusting headlight, you can usually raise a bit and stay within the law. And make sure your headlamp adjuster on the dash is on zero, anything else and it's lowering the beam to compensate for weight in the boot (xenons do this automatically).

    Hi! All looks great! I've got mk5 fsi from 2006 but changed headlights because old ones comming yellow to second hand ones from 2013. Now the new ones has site lights LED bulbs(sticks with 5 pcs led) and I have a question: can I change them, replace to new bulbs? Because one not working for somje reason and second one led flashing on that stick( but rest of them working? And second question-that led sticks(site lights) should still working when I using main driving lights?And one more question-it's legal in Uk to change original bulbs to those cold white bulbs? Greetings, Tom.

    • @volkswizard
      @volkswizard  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Tarron! Actually I machine polished the lenses but that was after the fitting of the bulbs so you might be referring to before then. In reality the lenses are quite pitted as the car has done 111k miles but they haven't got that nasty discolouration which is common on these. Some say that ultraviolet is to blame or harsh cleaning chemicals for that. It can be polished out but does come back.

      Good spot Steve :) You know, I really want to keep this car do a budget project on it but the sad reality is that it's very hard to buy cars right now so I really can't justify doing anything other than getting it ready for sale with a view to selling it this month. Needs wheel refurb, oil pipe to turbo, door lock mech, new cruise stalk, thermostat (not fun) and good clean inside but it's a nice original car with lots already spent. Could well be all original paint and no rust (shock). 111k miles 4 owners, FSH. It was in evo magazine in one of the 'journey' articles where it shows a readers old cars from first to last.

      @@volkswizard what's the symptom of the thermostat? Is the car running too cold or hot... Really love the channel!!

    • @volkswizard
      @volkswizard  4 роки тому

      @@PeterFeltersnatch852 Thanks🙌 Thankfully thermostats fail safe these days so cars run cold and don't warm up fully. This is better than overheating but if you ignore it you will still cause damage. The gauge should get to 90 degrees pretty quickly, when stat is faulty it with sit at 75 for too long before getting to 90 and will even go back from 90 while driving which never happens unless there is an issue. It's a bugger to fit but I've done one before (on my wife's Mk5) and it's a satisfying job to do. Was very common on Mk4 Golf and all cars of that era, quite rare these days but 11 years is good going. Happens to B5 RS4 too and that means it's best combined with a tricky cambelt change so Mk5 owners are lucky!

    • @PeterFeltersnatch852
      @PeterFeltersnatch852 4 роки тому +2

      @@volkswizard that's what my car does. I go out to warm it up in the morning before I leave and it's cold out. 10 to 15 minutesand I go out to leave and it's only at say quarter way I'm not sure the number but like whatever quarter tank would be and my other cars would usually be almost to the middle at that time! When I drive it and it'll go to halfway most of the time but even on the highway after about 10 minutes of driving it will go back down to the quarter way again. I know the cards have to coolant temperature sensors and that's the code that I got when I scanned it so I did the easiest one which is right below the high pressure fuel pump and this do not care of the issue I am getting the code that is coolant temperature sensor code and not a thermostat code. But again as I stated above the temperature is taking a long time to get to the middle and then within 10 minutes of driving yourself will go right back down 2 the quarter way on the gauge I'd say 60% of the time. also if this is bad for the car like you said how bad is it what can it hurtrunning cold and basically under heating I guess right? Ty In advance! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

    • @volkswizard
      @volkswizard  4 роки тому +1

      yes, you are basically in warm up phase for ever which is not good. Just ordered a MAHLE part from a local supplier, around £25 which is peanuts but the labour is killer. Still, it has to be done to enjoy the car so don't ignore it.
