Insanely helpful and insightful review, yet again, Mr. Bizness 🙌 big thanks
As a professional studio engineer I’ve been using Cubasis on iPad Pro M1 for about 2 years successfully now, completely left my MacBook to gather dust lol. My clients (big and small) haven’t even noticed the difference . But today… today it’s time to make a full circle back to Logic Pro with this new iPad version. The biggest game changer for me is been able to do multi-layer bus routing and using fully functional aux busses. I will definitely miss the Waves Plugins though 😢
i really like the Waves plugins in Cubasis too! Cubasis drums also go hard! Cubasis and their effects really have a great sound!!
What interface/mic setup do you use for iPad?
@@RazzleDazzle109 If you've ever heard of iRig products, they're great! I'm still relatively new at this so I currently use the budget friendly portable iRig Pro Duo; it also uses batteries in case there's no power nearby. It comes with all the different cables (Apple's Lightning, USB-C, etc.). The sound quality is superb when paired with my (also budget friendly) Audio Technica AT2020 mic. My 2 cents. Cheers!
@@RazzleDazzle109 The Audient EVO 8 is my main converter, very solid and class-compliant. I also use an Audio Quest Dragonfly DAC just for more playback juice for my Headphones. Mic wise - I use whatever that’s available at the studio for tbh, U87 or TLM103 mainly. I also use a Focusrite 430 mk2 for mic pre.
@@dantecooper4705 yes, I have them all, Eventide too and Waves (inside Cubasis).
My man!! the review we all been waiting for
Definitely a learning curve. Somethings are that intuitive for me, and some seem to take more steps than they should. It’s fun though!
Great review again! Thank you so much! ❤😊
Thank you for the review. 🎉
Learning curve my brotha! No different than going from a standard digital mixer to a rack mounted and an iPad. You’ll get it
Thanks for the review. Really well done.
Thanks Shawn
I’ve been waiting for this video. Nobody does it better. Let’s Go!
Perfect guy to debut this!!! Btw what's the grey box on the right side...interface?....dang, I see in the description lol.. gonna check this out.
Looking forward to using logic 🔥🔥🔥
definitely need a “user” section in samples browser to import folder structures of samples
Thank you Henny for always being ahead of the curve on this stuff. You’re the Bizness for a reason.
I was waiting for your take on it
Whoa Spike Lee Spotted! Thanks for the rundown on this Henny! I'm excited to dive in
wondering who else caught that.
@@krazywabbit I did🙂
👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Thanks bro!
Appreciate you bro ✊🏿
And OP-1 Field and TX-6… hmm will have to try out that setup later!! ❤
ooooooowwwwwweeeeee!!!! i cant wait 🔥🔥 whole reaosn why i bought a ipad for mobile production 4 years ago
Layup Drills was easiest purchase decision in a long time. Super excited to get started! 😊
Thanks Sean 🙌🏼
ayy man, been a minute since i stopped by. you're looking all extra healthy now. makes me happy to see. really appreciate your videos man. bigup!
oh shit was that SPIKE LEE!?!?!?
Appreciate that! Life is good 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Yesssir!!!!!!🔥
I downloaded the app. With the interface alone, you're right in that it's gonna take a bit of learning, especially knowing what it has and what it doesn't. For instance, not sure if I can import third-party EXS instruments. I use them as my go-to sounds in Logic on the desktop, so hope that if not now, eventually. Gonna need some space to see if I can wrap my head around it, for sure. Thanks again, sir!
Thank you!
Appreciate you Henny , from watching this video, I’ve noticed they haven’t really improved the drum program, it’s the same Garage band drum set up. Which is nice and easy to use, but I don’t really like the organic kick, snare, 808 sound from it. I’m saying if they can make it where you can add your own drum files to it or you can swap it out. It’s easy to make a drum patterns.
Bro as always, very informative. You nailed it. I will definitely check it out. Thanks for sharing what you do. Also, I like how you kept referring to work flow. As someone who is getting ready to make the full time move, work flow is going to be key. Appreciate your professionalism. 🏋🏿♂️🔥💪🏾
This does everything in my MPC one does and more my mpc crapped out on me so this is a perfect hook my midi keyboard up to and it’s perfect… just wish I can use my AirPods without delay, they need to fix that fast because it’s a perfect combination
Nice. Let’s go!
"I've had it for two weeks" FLEX BIG OUT HERE CHIEF!!!!! LOL
Nah, some folks on that level. Cuzzo Syd was even in the press material. She had it the same amount of time.
Yeah they put that propaganda out early so everyone would shill Logic and FinalCut. Apple went hard on the “influencers” because they know nobody who wasn’t bribed would shill subscriptions to apps they already paid for.
Love the rig
When that beat dropped. Henny BACK!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Keyboard will be a necessity for example to choose multiple samples to import (shift+select)
I'm excited
Henny Looking Good.Hope Family is doing well.Been busy and looking forward to catching up with so much more.We also have to wait until next move on the new products that they come out and done right. All I can say little at a time. Thanks for all your amazing work in the past.✌️
Hi there… I just stumbled upon your channel… thank you so very much.
What is the white keyboard and what do you recommend for an audio interface for iPad Pro
Thanks 😊 Eddie
6:09 - Importing files works perfectly! After selecting files, when dragging them, you need to hold your finger on the place where you want to place the files for a second. And it is not necessary to create ten tracks beforehand. You can drag and drop files into an empty session and the tracks will create themselves. You yourself are talking about efficient use of time :-).
I tried it for a couple days and I must say that Cubasis 3 is still the king of iPad production. Plus they have waves plugins .I make my beats in BM3 and send everything to Cubasis 3 to mix 💯💪🏾🎶💯💪🏾
The only way to really do it.💪🏾 AUM is legit too.!
One of the reason i purchased an iPad pro 2nd gen back in 2017 was for music production while on the road. I have been very disappointed since with the way the iPadOS has been capped and limited for music production and professional apps in general. I have tried every single “daw” and they were too clumsy and unstable for any serious work. I have since left the iPad as a music station and dedicated it to be mostly a companion to my desktop/laptop setup and not a standalone music production device. Hearing and seeing Logic Pro come to the iPad is like a dream come true, but a dream that came to late for me. I’m a professional that needs higher end tools to do my job efficiently. I now use Steinberg Nuendo for all of my production and recording applications, so logic is not going to come even close to the things i can do already, but after trying it this morning, I’m convinced that theres still hope for the iPad producer/musician, A hope that I thought was once dead, now seems to be back alive. Apple, you are great at many things as a company, but you took so long to this it even hurts.
I hear you.
Man, I wish every reviewer did this. Henny just gets it. Work is about flow and iPads are not about doing it like a laptop, they are about doing it a different way.
Appreciate it
The mix really put them drums slapping
Great review Henny! As soon as I downloaded Logic I came straight to your page. I knew you’d have the most thorough and fair review. Looks very promising as a 1.0 product. Hopefully they update the annoyances soon!
Thanks for the support Charlie 🙏🏼
Henny!!!! On the one!
Glad that truly pro DAW software is available on iOS finally! Now my iPad Pro can flex!
Yessir
Your beats are honestly some of my favorites. They knock and groove and have a really polished high end. Looking forward to the tutorials.
Thanks Marcel 💯
Can I use Logic Remote on my old iPad in conjunction with Logic on my new m2 iPad? That would be amazing. I know it's not a thing but, I thought I would throw it out there lol it would be awesome for plugins and or the console to always be displayed on my remote!
I’ve been waiting for this. I’m spoiled by what’s possible. What is here, sans updates, is pretty awesome. If you want to get things done, it can be done here. I’m looking forward to getting a flow with it.
Exactly!
👍🏽 Could you make a review for these apps: AnimoogZ , and, Borderlands Granular
What’s your workflow to get Loopy loops into logic?.
Regarding Logic IPad, I’m very disappointed with the lack of audio wrap and flex markers, and audio editing in general. Very far from the desktop version, it’s Garage Band Pro or Logic lite.
Lol, love the look you get when you get into the beat. 😂 👍👍👍
Thanks Mark!
WOW, great review.🔥🔥👍🏾👍🏾
This is going to be interesting.
Got a new subscriber bro. Good stuff.
Appreciate you 💯
Very interesting🎉. Profivideo👑
Shout out to you Henny for being able to keep a secret for 2 weeks! Man, you’re good! I would let that info go so quick, it wouldn’t have been nothing but my guts left all over the flo! 🤣 Now I’m going to finish watching your review. A pre-thank you man is in order. 👍🏽👊🏽
Thanks Mark! Yeah, I had to hold that one close 😅😅😅
Woah, thanks for rocking my op1f stands from my Etsy shop! Glad they’re working for you!
Also, the video is spot on to my first impressions with the new iPad logic. So far, it’s potential is very high!
Man this is what I’ve been waiting for. Learning curve yes but once I get my workflow with this I’ll be good.
💯💯💯
Great insight, I currently use GarageBand and will give the free trial a go, Quick question I’m already struggling for memory on my iPad Pro any suggestions how I can resolve this
if you go to settings - general - iPad storage it will automatically give you some suggestions of things to get rid of, usually big files or duplicates!
I wish I can load plug-ins as Spire, Sonible, Plugin alliance on this Logic Pro.
Yo Henny, great review. Regarding exporting individual stems, I think you need to turn off the cycle range, which should enable the "Export All Tracks as Individual Audio Files" option.
Hmmmm interesting .. you tried it ?
Let me know if that works. I’ll try today myself. Thanks 🙏🏼
So… did it work!?
🔥🔥🔥
I am underwhelmed but looking forward to the future.
IPad Air M2….works great! Awesome video.
Awesome track. Hard work pays off. Who knew?
Can’t find how to modulate any parameter with an LFO, do I miss something or just not possible ?
With having the 2TB version from apple, will you review FCP? I know that’s not your video editing workflow but I would like to see how you like/dislike FCP compared to Lumafusion
I’ll try to get around to it but LF has been working so well for me for so many years, I’m not sure how much I’ll deep dive just yet.
Can I just say shout out to you Henny and working with our Dear Old Morehouse !! ~Roy S. ( c/o ‘96)
🙆🏽♂️🙆🏽♂️🙆🏽♂️🙆🏽♂️🙆🏽♂️
Hey has anyone grasped the sampler? I can’t figure out how to chop up an audio source and trigger them with the virtual keyboard 😩
The fact that the full version of Alchemy isn't available is beyond me? Other than that, so far so good. Super fun and intuitive. For me anyways. I did notice certain Audio Units do not work, YET. A few of my favorite Sugar Bytes apps unfortunately. Im sure all these issues will be ironed out here eventually. For me this is deff a step in the proper direction. Good vid man.
Left Logic after 4.6 when it went Mac only. I have Macs and an iPad, but I prefer a good PC with an RME RayDat card installed.
Yo man" thanx for showin' again your workflow cause how u wanna get down is
how I do similar of my sound. (( To be continue what my sound is. )) Beatbreaker.
Don't fall asleep on egoist and bram Bos noir & Hilda.
they do very similar what ipad logic pro beatbreaker does.
“Oh, just some stuff that I came up with” huh? Man, if you don’t stop being so modest! That demo you put down is ABSOLUTE 🔥🔥🔥🔥! I give up. 🥺
😅🤣🙏🏼
Nice you brought the field to the party
You know it 💯💯💯
Great video, thanks. How do you route USB/Audio here between tula, op-1 field, tx-6 and ipad?
I connect the TX-6 to my iPad via USB-C, connect my op1 field to the TX-6 via 1/8inch cables, connect the Tula Mic to my op1 field via USB C. When I want to use the Tula Mic, I open the sample function on the op1 field. That’s how I do it 👍🏼
Super Video Henny as usual. Question for you i used ipad since 2014 intermittently as i always found it to be super thin sounding i prefer my home studio tbh, but i noticed your beats on ipad sound very good with round and punchy drums, are you using any kind of lunchbox 500s series hw gear to treat the sound out, or im sure you have a pro engineer treat that in a big studio as as is ipad sound is not great to my ears :) I can no problem get a punchy fat sound from any laptop with good vst plugins but not on ipad it seems always found it sounded more digital than digital itself haha except when i hook it up to external hardware gear :)
I’m using just the iPad, teenage engineering gear and AUV3 plugins. Check out the Knock plugin from Decap… it helps a ton on drums and bass!
@@HennyThaBizness thanks a lot Henny, Tha Bizness, Tha Bizness hehe !!!
I’ve been eating for this video from you specifically and it doesn’t disappoint. Looking forward to getting to re-know logic. My health and current life situation has been getting in the way of my recording and beat making and I hope to get the extra juice to get over the hump, I’m hoping this gives a bit of inspiration for that goal. Thanks Henny not only are your videos some of my favorites but you also inspire me too
Thanks Robert! I’m glad my perspective helped. Hope your health improves as soon as possible! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Peace. Been dealing with health issues too and it slowed down my recording. But I definitely want to upgrade my system which I think will make recording and sending files more efficient and less exhausting. Best of luck to you.
The idea of walking into a room and multi tracking with an ipad is 🤯
I might get it to build basic ideas and take them to the Mac to give it that overall finish
Yea they have to fix that file situation real quick
Nice Vid Henny.
I moved from buying more plugins to buying knowledge, so I‘m super interested in your tutorial series 🥳
The promo vid however doesn’t exactly tell what to expect from the videos (how long are they, are you explaining the auv3s u use, do you break down the harmony etc …) would be super nice if you‘d elaborate a bit.
Cheers and thanks for your input as always!
8mins 20, You seem to have missed that you can import multiple files at a time. You’re meant to press on the circles to the left that “selects” multiple items
Looking forward to pro VST’s joining iOS!
i wonder what they will cost though... Pro Q 3 was like $20 or $50 USD when I got it. I wonder what it'll cost now. Full desktop price, maybe??
You found any way to do midi mapping or midi learn? Can’t find a way to do it, which seems weird. Definitely want the option to use a control surface with it.
I haven’t tried it yet
It seems there is no way to show for example Synth + fabfilter on the same screen like we had it in GarageBand ((( I'm see only one window, so I can't adjust synth and control it in the analyzer or eq. Too sad(( Toooo sad(
❤Pls give a BandLab review on iPad🌦️
Hope they add keyboard piano with command + k
Yo Henny I’m glad you were able to work with Apple on this! If anything, you’re probably responsible for it happening anyway 😂😂😂 ( also, uhms and ahhs are killing the vibe. Allow for pause’s and take your time. We rockin with you! )
I appreciate the constructive criticism 🙏🏼
@@HennyThaBizness always constructive!
had to comment midway through...the LP overview is GR8 Sir Henry.......but that Beat from Your new Tutorial series....is straight up nasty with a capital NUH!!!!! 17:27
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Man im glad i could count on you. Bring on the 14 inch ultrapad. What interface would ya get. Im selling everything and going straight ipad. But i want a killer interface apogee uad etc. and what plugs ya think is coming
Any way to import key commands?
12:01 - 12:19 The tongue dance 😅
I’ll try this out, but as someone that takes music seriously I’ll still primarily be working on my M1 iMac
That's cool, but this is perfect for sketches and drafts on the go. Air drop audio or midi out to your daw when ready and voila. Perfect addition to work flow🫠
Understood. Just know you can produce Grammy award winning music with these devices. 🙋🏽♂️🙋🏽♂️🙋🏽♂️
Beat breaker seems like reason’s synchronous filter
Are you still focused on Loopy pro? Or are you Logic Pro now?
Does it run well on the mini?
Working on less then 30 inches screen, it's haute couture. ;)
"you have to be a little bit patient there..."
and scene.
NO VST SUPPORT?
HUGE MISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Logic Lite
What’s the gear your using at the side of your iPad? Thanks in advance 👌
Teenage Engineering TX-6 and the Tula Mic. You can check them out in the description 👌🏼
👌
You mentioned that you recorded in 96khz? Is that an imported file or directly recorded with the iPad? My assumption was that the iPad will force the audio interface to step down to 16bit/44khz and there is now way around this, i.e. still no sample rate or bit depth settings available?
Directly recorded to the iPad
Hey bruh bruh!!!! What about for the moment setting up a project the way you want it and calling it default template and using it when you start a new track. Then when you save the new track save as so you can use your default template again?
I might try that.
Thanks
@@HennyThaBizness I just realized in doing this. Logic saves automatically like GB. Duplicate your default before you start and name it something else. Then open it up and you're good.
Looks great but they can miss me with the subscription... let me buy mine and roll
