Al Lewis (grandpa) was visiting our area (he has relatives here) when I was a baby in the 60s and my mother said he picked me up and he held me. My claim to fame.

I'm 65 and I still watch this show.
I loved this programme when I was a lad. Fred Gwynn was brilliant as Herman Munster.
I was 10 yrs. old when this series first aired. I still love this show!
I was around 7 when it came out. And vividly recall several episodes that were my favorites. 💜

The guy mentioning bulldozers at 4:09 is veteran character actor Bert Freed. A few year later he was the one knocked down by Billy Jack's foot (in the square in downtown Prescott, Arizona) in "Billy Jack" (1971).
That's what the world needs now, more kindness in the world like we had it...
I'm 60 now and still remember running home from the school bus to watch this, great memories.
I'm still surprised this only lasted two seasons this was Ultimate fun and acted so perfectly and just a riot it should have stayed on for years
Company politics made it unworkable
Unfortunately like the Adam's family it came at the worst time. A few years earlier and it would have had more seasons.
Rumors l've heard that Batman took the ratings with brilliant colors, fight scenes, cool villains and the stay tuned for the next adventure, same bat channel won 🏆 and The Munsters ratings collapsed.

When I saw the movie "Frankenstein," I wondered what was supposed to be so scary about it, since it was just Herman Munster.

They realized he really is a Frankenstein and if he could move bulldozers and a wrecking ball around like toys they were scared what he could do to them if they attempted to bulldoze his house

Herman scares the snot out of them without even trying. If somebody casually pushes two bulldozers out of the way to talk to you, salute them and get the heck out.

This segment is funny. Herman thought he got through to the Demolition Crew with reason not knowing that they were frightened over his immense strength. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@leerogish7223 None of them do. Their self-image of their own normality and utter bewilderment over how people react to them is the central aspect of the show's comedy.
It's called fighting without fighting, he showed them what they were really up against, he knows who he is, don't let the smooth taste fool you...

You can't compare The Addams Family with the Munsters. The Munsters was a real comedy show.
I can't vote which one is better, Both TV Shows are Comedy Gold.

Always loved Herman's unnatural strength and his thinking is was nothing extraordinary. Like the time he picked up a man hole cover with 2 fingers.
My favorite episode Grandpa told Herman, stay out of dungeon, of course Herman goes anyway. He cranked up all Grandpa's equipment flashing around, he looked into camera and said, I don't know what I'm doing but I'm having a lot of fun! Good ole Herman great character.

The Munsters were, in my opinion, one of the best tv comedy series ever made in the US, due to one very simple reason. It was silly and extremely funny. It was a caricature of many values and mores of American society and culture at the time, and they chose to make fun of them (even questioned them) in a matter that was enjoyable and very funny, while keeping a noted political critique.
The beginning of the show is a spoof of the beginning of the Donna Reed show

Grew up watching the Munsters my favorite duo grandpa Herman. They complimented each other hilariously. Miss those days as a teenager, after school snacking and those Munsters!

There's a lesson in Hernan Munster's character that holds a whole lot of truth. It requires strength to be gentle, for only the strong have the option available to them.

That's funny because from what I've heard everyone hated the pilot episode for some reason.
Fred Gwynn was well known as a writer and illustrator of children's books before and after his film career came to an end. He was friends with Ted Cassidy who was well known as a radio broadcaster. His deep voice caught the ear of a talent scout looking for an actor that could play Lurch. Great Bios on both of them on YT!!

This is my all time favorite scene in the entire series. Herman is a physical monster, as strong & as tough as a bulldozer but with the heart of a true gentleman. He wasn't even trying to scare those men, but they decided they did not have enough people or equipment to deal with Herman

With all them 60s shows, this is far more the best! :) & just got the box set of season 1 & 2. now, I'm a kid again. ;)

I think Grandpa should have really been the focus of the Munsters' ire after all was said and done since he was the one who signed the contract, but thankfully Herman saves the day...literally lol
I used to live in Buffalo NY and I remember seeing families like the Munster's there.
You ain't kidding. I got stories. The Loud Family..... The Dog Family (15 dogs and their faces)..... The Walrus Family.... The Landfill Family....(they went to the dump regularly.... To pick up, not to drop off...) Oh yeah.
Buffalo Valley was a favorite vacation site of Herman's!

The Munsters has always been my favorite since childhood many decades ago. Grandpa and his fail experiments. The only 2 members alive is Pat Prest and Butch Patrick (Eddie).
Did anyone notice when Herman pushed the dozers aside and stepped back onto the sidewalk you can see the mike cable attached for the Sound microphone dragging by his leg?

I have the FULL collection- including all episodes- the original UNAIRED pilot, several interviews, and two movies.. I got the set from AMAZON for $20.. and LOVE it..... THIS is one of my favorite ones... :)
The playing of _La Marseillaise_ in the background always seems so appropriate for this family of normal, average people.
I was 12 when this show came out and I wanted a house just like that. I loved that show.
The house is in Decatur, Illinois, and it’s still there
