PointConstraint2 - Smoothing and Point Balance are dependent on the Distance Min and Distance Max. Smoothing will prevent it from hitting a wall when you reach the max/min distance. Point Balance will balance the translation of the points between the extremities when the Max/Min distance is reached. So, if your primary peg is leftmost, it will favour the left peg when reaching its distance -- if you set balance to 50, it will try and balance the maximum distance between (and kinda be between them all, Point Balance at 0 is primary peg, Point Balance 100 is secondary peg).
Project to Plane would be helpfull when you do a dropped shadow of your character/object. It should create the exact phisically right dropped "projection" of your object to 2d plane (ground).
great info. i think a lot of people are very very disappointed about the master controls because it looked very helpful up to the point of hearing that you need to write script to use master controls at that point I personal felt sad/angry/confused and disinterested in harmony 15.
You're definitely not alone in feeling that way. I think the master controler will become a lot more accessible over time as the community gets time to work it out. The other new tools are really great, so it's a shame the master controler's difficulty has sort of cast a shadow on that. 15 is still a really powerful upgrade, even without the MC. I am going to keep making content that works with the older versions for sure though, so no worries there :).
Tracy, there is no "community." You really are sounding like you have been drinking the Kool-Aid. Other than you who is this community? There are a few other people who have produced several tutorials but they are all covering the same basic material. Nothing else is coming from people working daily in studios. I have been scouring for information on Toon Boom software for years now. There is not any user participation where everyone shares insights. The Toon Boom forum is 99% one-off questions. There are maybe 5 regular contributors. Once in a while someone will chime in about something they do. That is not what people expect when you see it being described as a "community." It certainly is nothing like the user base of any other area of software. The forum itself does not even have a Search function. TB deliberately removed it. It has been removed and added after complaints then clearly removed when they knew people asked for it. It is difficult to organize and pull up any sort of collection of helpful posts. There have been a couple, like one on OpenFX long abandoned because of the way the forum is handled.
I feel for you, Ampy, the community I'm talking about are the people I've worked with in the studios. Tomorrow I'm posting an interview with 3 pro riggers. We've all been talking behind the scenes and sharing info. Unfortunately there's no big public community for Harmony. Most of my friends are not on social media at all - I just started at the beginning of this year. Before that I had no real public presence.
Helloo, i have a dynamic spring- transformation limit combo on a hair piece, but how do i flip the peg with the drawing flipping with it? (Because it wont)
Hi i have a problem...why After i make 2 peg , assegnato pivot and set up the onde ... i can Select in My stage only the right peg ? I can Select the left peg only by onde View is normal ? Is a problem of preferences ?
If you select a drawing and it doesn't have animation on, it will select the first peg above it. To move up to the next peg you can press 'b' often, if I have pegs that are difficult to select in the camera view, I will keep them visible in the node view so I can select it there. You can also look into adding handles to pegs, so you can select that in the camera view.
@@StylusRumble very thanks...i resolved by this " TIPIt is recommended to disable the Animate Using Animation Tools property of the element the Two-Points Constraint node is connected to. This will allow the animator to animate the Two-Points Constraint by selecting the element, then clicking and dragging near one of the two points using the Transform tool" after this....when i click on the right of the object i select right peg...and left wen i click on the left. ah ! thanks and sorry...my english is horrible
Hi Tracy, what is the link to your interview? These constraints cannot be baked (i.e. Convert Deformed Drawings to Drawings) like deformers can be baked. Seems like they are so technically similar ToonBoom could have offered that.
I added the interview link. I never even thought about baking them. I have no idea how the technology works so I can't even guess how hard that would be to implement. Worth mentioning on the suggestion forum though :)
For some reason when I try and move the constraint on the stage, it just draws like a lassoo line instead of moving it, as if the constraint wasn't there. Any ideas?
Thanks for your reply. I made a video of the issue here ua-cam.com/video/g0Gahux683o/v-deo.html If that's not enough don't worry about it, I appreciate your time. I have also contacted support.
I think my first solution would be to just add a couple drawings to use as control handles. That way instead of needing to select the pegs from the network, you can just grab the handles. If that doesn't work it's probably a software issue.
Harmony desperately needs a Kai Krause or Jobs/Ive thinker. Toon Boom's approach to everything is so non-intuitive it is anti-intuitive. At least if you have to deal with all of the fields in a typical layer properties window they should make sense and do what you logically expect them to but most of the time nothing does what you expect if you can even understand what something should do. This is true of practically every instance where a layer properties window is used in Harmony. I appreciate what these constraint options do bring to the table but the way they are implemented is appalling. You should not be letting TB slide with their conflicting nomenclature. I pay for my software and Toon Boom's pattern of behavior is really grating on my nerves. I have seen this BS repeated too many times in the past.
At least it's consistently inconsistent? I've always been a make the best with what you got, type of person. There are definitely things I want to see changed. I've got a few things happening behind the scenes I'll be announcing soon.
The Z depth forcing via a bitmap composite is a great idea! Never thought of doing things that way.
Duct-tape solutions are my specialty lol
Such cool features! Thank you for taking the time to teach us plebs how to use them!

oh, that makes sense. Why didn't they say that in the help document lol.

Спасибо!) Это самая умная девушка в мире!) О сложном - очень понятно.

that's good to hear

this is great - can you go over the transformation limit?
Yepper! Going to try to get through all of them eventually. :)
Its the pivots! Thanks, great Tutorial!
Helloo, i have a dynamic spring- transformation limit combo on a hair piece, but how do i flip the peg with the drawing flipping with it? (Because it wont)
The transformation limit has an "allow flipping" option, and it has to allow the use of scale-x or whatever it is you're flipping with.

I'd have to look at your network to be sure. Have you added control handles to the constraint pegs to make them easier to select?

Okay thanks. I will give it a try!
As an animator, yes we are 'Cray' and cannot be trusted. MWhahaha.
