Narakasura was the evil son of Bhumadevi, mother Earth. He was of demon-like nature through his association with Banasura. He enjoyed terrorising people and soon conquered the entire earth. But then he wished to attain the Swargaloka, the world of the heavenly celestials. His Minister warned him that the Devas were immortal and would overpower him. And so he guided his master into meditating to Lord Brahma and acquiring immortality in return.
