I tried capturing my 6505 and it sounded a little more compressed and fuzzy(?) idk it’s def like over 90% accurate and sounds much better than a lot of previous sims/plugins though. Great vid 🤘🏽
Definitely an amazing piece of gear that i can definitely see the advantage of having. IMO tho on those clips, to my ear, the actual head sounded better. Great video Danny! Love that axe!!
Thanks so much buddy! The Marshall is always gonna be THE original! I have Marshall in my blood at this point! The quad is such a fantastic inspiring tool too! Both awesome 😎
Just a tip - when setting Inst and In 1 levels before starting the capture, it’s a lot easier to use the physical switch knobs...at least for me! Anyways, love your playing!
The head just sounds better. The tone is more exciting sounding somehow. Don't know what it is...more pleasant compression, harmonics? It's something definitely.
Sounds awesome dude! I think all it's really missing is a bit of bottom end grunt, maybe try turning up the bass a little bit and it might sound a bit closer! Love the Satch style intro licks to the jam too! 🤘
@@dannydelacruzguitar6519 Might be less treble instead? Seems like the QC is missing a little of the warmth (i.e. a bit too hifi compared to the head). Hey, first of all thanks for the amazing video and explenation. But I have a question for u. Would you recomend the quad cortex for playing at home and record as a hobby, get al the tones you want? Or do I just buy a more metal kind of amp, paired with an blues/clean amp (which I already own, it's a fender blues deluxe)? Ps.: keep up the vids man, just keep pushing!!!
I would recommend it! As it’s also a fantastic recording tool! Super easy to use and tons of sounds on tap not to mention FX too! All depends how you’d like to run it tho!
lovely playing dude! are you uploading that capture on the cloud by any chance? also what camera are you using in 13:25? that video close up looks great with those harmonizations
I have to say it, too: Head sounds better. More "Mojo" or whatever you would call it. But wayyyy close enough for Live and hearing it in the mix. You should also check the fm3 and the jcm 800 modell in there. Probably closer ;) Great Video though!
Great man! What would you say about the dynamic of the capture and quad cortex overall? Is dialing in tones with the guitars voluming possible and good enough or does the sound have less punch/bite/quality then?
Definitely works really well on the Marshall type stuff and cleaner stuff! Not so much on a mess boogie rectifier type but that is expected to be honest! Can definitely roll your volume and get great tones but nothing is stopping us from profiling different settings also with the same amp :)
Thank you Jody! Thanks for watching! I have messed around with the stock OD’s and they work great! They’ll only get better too. For me tho I just found it was easier to profile my own pedals close to how I run them! Great unit!
@@dannydelacruzguitar6519 - loving mine so far. Might book a day off work to capture my 4 Victory amps and upload them to the cloud. I have a fryette power station too. Presumably you just came out of the power station line out to make your capture?
HOLA PERO NO DICE DONDE VA EL CABLE DE LA GUITARRA LOS CABES DE LOS MICROFONOS. QUE SE CONECTA EN LA SALIDA 1 Y 2 ? MINUTO 2:30, QUE CABLE VA EN EL CAPTURE OUT 1 , QUE CABLE VA AL MARSHALL?
Does it also capture how the tonecontrols of the amp react ? Or does it put the same basic eq on top of how you dial the amp in for the capture ? Sounds great btw.
Think of it like a snapshot of the amp at the time of capture! If you have a few sounds on the same amp I would recommend profiling a few different sounds!
Well said man... For recording purposes, use whatever you have the best, but for gigs and moving around all we need is some quality and light luggage... Plug and play is the way!
The dislikes are from people who were so amazed by the video that they started crying tears of joy and accidentally hit the dislike button instead of the like 🥲
notice when doing reference to the cortex and the real amp, how the green is highlighted and you say you're on "that" one? If you notice other peoples videos, they have it backwards as to the reference.
Hi Danny, great video. But making a comparison in the QC with the reference button is not a good comparison in my opinion. Because the real amplifier already doesn't sound the same anymore in the capture loop ( you got to do a real A/B comparison) And next time try to capture a real vintage amp or a old Fender Tweed amp.
Hi Rik! Thanks for watching! Yes I did notice there is a slight difference when staying within the loop and using the reference. That being said the side by side just before the conclusion was actually recorded straight into the amp, no capture loop happening there. Hope that’s what you meant 😁 I’d love to do some more videos on this unit in the near future
Dumb Q, is there a gain knob on the QC that you could raise slightly to compensate and make the 2 sounds equal in gain/distortion ? Or is the gain on QC already on 10 ? Also, how is the feel/dynamics when you roll the guitar volume down a little (fractal noise gate can sometimes chop off or fade off notes)....that’s my biggest curiosity.....
Yes could absolutely raise the gain on the QC, had loads more give, when rolling down the volume it cleans up nice, maybe harder on higher gain models like EVH, MESA etc.
If you would have just turned the gain up on your capture it would have sounded exactly the same. It bugs me so much that you did not do that. I don't know why but it's making my brain itch
Guitar rigs today are so amazing, and I'm so glad that we're living in these times. Metallica did this for live shows. Since few years ago they're using AxeFX on guitars and bass. The units were set up by the guys from AxeFX at Metallica head quarters. There's an interview about this.

why you always say it is "pretty close"? It is 100% nailed, just adjust a tiny tiny bit gain and presence on the QC and it 100% and not "pRetTY cLOSe". Jezz, stop lying to yourself. ;-)
the real amp is so much better. its easy to fall into that trap of eq matched bullshittery comparing them side by side. but the real deal just sounds right in terms of those little nuances and compression.
