My 2018 just started doing this. I ordered the Ford motorcraft part for $60.00 and free shipping. It should be here Wednesday. This is pretty strait forward set of instructions. THANK YOU!
3 bolts are actually 5.5mm. Thanks for the video. Never knew this was an issue until it happened! I didn't pull fuse, and all is good. I happened to find a genuine Motorcraft one for only a few bucks more. 10 min fix.
Before you buy the new wiper control unit, pull the old one out, check to see if there is white powdery substance on the connection, that's what mine had, could have possibly cleaned it and reused my old arm. I had already purchased the new one, so I went with it. hope this helps.
The guy below is right and it is a grease issue. Clean with alcohol or contact cleaner. Use a toothbrush and clean the inside of the connector housing and the switch. Save $50.00 first.
cleaning the white grease seems to have worked for me too. there was a lot of grease in there. used 70% isopropyl and a tooth brush to clean and a dry paper towel to wipe off any splatter. put it back together and let my truck run for a bit and the wipers never came on unless i turned the dial! very helpful
Such a wierd problem to have lol I was on vacation when mine failed and it had been raining non stop at first they wouldn't shut off which got really annoying so I pulled the fuse cuz I thought that was it then it wouldn't turn on at all after that so cheers and wish me luck that it's the switch I'm about to change out lol
What's up man. Same issue here. I replaced the part and like you said it's a little stiff and mine makes a weird clicking sounds when I have the blinker on and I make a turn. Is yours like that? Also, my blinker sometimes doesn't turn off when I make the turn. I bought mine from Napa and then I tried one from AutoZone and they both do the same same thing. Clicking sound don't sound good lol I don't know if I'm going have to get the original part
I got mine from Napa as well and it was a little stiff at first. It’s been some time now and everything seems normal with it. Not sure why your blinker wouldn’t turn off though. Mine did make a little click but after a while it seems to be fine! Maybe try an oem one from ford parts??
I just found out that the part number is a different number if you have "Rain Sensing" wipers. I will get the correct one tomorrow. I hope it fixes the problem. My fault, not AutoZone's fault, I told him the part number. Live and learn!
Had this problem once in awhile in my 2015. Now it is all the time. Driving me crazy. Thanks for the video now I know how easy it is to solve.

Definitely an easy swap!
Took me about 15 minutes after I watched your video. Thanks!
My F150 2020 had same issues thanks for making this video so helpful
Absolutely! These damn little electric issues
@@Sean_Hannon I already don’t like the future

Yeahhh makes a big difference
They are not 5.5 MM / Video is correct on my 2016
Excellent video, took me longer to find my T10 bit then it did to change the switch. Thanks brother
Omg my 2020 just started doing this. It drives me insane. Can’t wait to get this done. Lol! Thanks for the video man.
For sure! Super easy swap out
Same problem on my 2018 F250. Doing this tonight, thanks for the video.
Should be the same process on it!
Great help! Easy fix. You saved me a couple hundred dollar bill from my mechanic. Oh, and the 7/32 socket is 5.5MM.
This helped me switch it out quickly on my '14 Ford F150 XLT. Thank you!
Absolutely!
Great video, I spent more time gathering up my tools than it took to replace the switch, thank you.
Easy swap!
This just happened on my ‘18. Great video and you saved me a lot of hassle. Enjoy your ride!
Thanks brother! Worked just as you said, for 2018 models it is a 9/32 socket
7mm
Came in clutch with this video Chief! Thanks
🔥🔥🔥🔥

Possible to clean it yes!

I just cleaned my 2019 with air and paper towel. Wipers would not go off after I turned them off.@@jacobadams1987
You just saved me a lot of time and money 😅 thanks brother!!!!
Absolutely!!! Easy fix!
Thanks for doing this. Mine just went on my 2017 F150. You saved me a bundle! Cheers!
My 2020 is doing this intermittently. New part will be here in a few days. Thanks for the vid!
Dude, thank you so much for the video you gave me the confidence to do it myself, I hope I get to report back in with good reports. Thanks again.
Made the swap super easy thank you!!
Great video ! Thanks , one thing I had to do was to clean the contacts, they had a white built up
Ohhh I didn’t even check those
Thank you for the video!! Just finished up mine. 2017 F150 XLT.
excellent video, 5.5mm socket works too, i changed it my while the truck was running, no fuse pulled, and works great
Thank you! My 2019 started do this. I got a duralast from autozone for $57.
Wow! easy peasy. 5 minutes start to finish. Easier than changing out a headlight bulb. T 10 torx, 7/32 socket, and small screwdiver.
Super simple and saves you probably $300
Thanks! Doing this today.
Super simple!!
Great video. Thanks. Been driving me crazy. Done!
Thanks bro made it easy for me
✌🏼
Hell yeah!!!
Thanks man!! Great video.
Absolutely!
Thank you for this video, I will replace mine tomorrow
Thank you! God bless you!
Thanks for this. Very helpful
I bought my replacement part on Amazon for $21.00 and it’s been working fine for over a year ever since replacing it.
That’s a good deal
very helpful. thanks!
Thanks, very easy fix!

You got this!!
@AuthenticLife lol funny that it was a 10min fix 🤣
Any more detail on releasing those clips on the steering column to get the plastic shroud apart?
Great video. Thank you!
What’s the fuse position? Thanks in advance
Not sure what you mean but it’s plug and play super simple
My bad the fuse you pulled so the wipers won’t work
What’s the position of the fuse
It’s in the owners manual
Thank you for the vid boss !
Great video i thought it was just me
Easy stuff
Okay but can we do this in a Ram? 🙏
Dude thank you!
Thank you for the video👍🏻💪🤜🏻
Yessirr
Informative and helpful video. You kinda talk like a highway patrolman
Thank you
Did your pins on the old one have white corrosion on them? Also thanks for this video. Saved me $450
Yeah they did unfortunately and oh yeah saves so much money!
Thank you!!
THX
Of course!
No need to replace. Takes 5 min to remove, clean contact points with brush/ alcohol, reinstall.
Might work might not
I cleaned it and it worked for a mouth but we just got 2 days of very wet weather and it's doing it again so off to the parts store
Mine looks like I could have cleaned it. But had already bought a new one
Got mine off of ebay for $19 and it was the same numbers and replaced it last year and still going
Thanks
Thank you for this, definitely came in handy today
Hell yeah! For sure
You would think Ford would have fixed this by now. My 2018 has the same problem
Such a pain in the ass! Especially being such new trucks.

@@Sean_Hannon I ended up going to Ford dealership and they had the part in stock and it worked perfectly. No clicking and no stiffness. Thanks man
I got mine from AutoZone, same thing. Turn signal does not shut off automatically after you make the turn. Defective?
I just found out that the part number is a different number if you have "Rain Sensing" wipers. I will get the correct one tomorrow. I hope it fixes the problem. My fault, not AutoZone's fault, I told him the part number. Live and learn!
@@DeWaltRadialguy That's why Ford wanted the last 8 digits of my vin for the new switch👍
i have the opposite problem they shut off in the middle of a rain. wont come on again until i turn the truck off and let it sit of make a left turn
For the price of the part and how easy and quick the install was, you’re better off just replacing and being done with it.
F150’s use metric fasteners
Oh okay
The fact we have to do this as normal maintenance at this point is wild.
Its a poor design
Piece of cake.I fixed it in 2 minutes
super easy and cheap to do yourself
Yes I was about to check my work truck and have them fix that same thing and they want to charge 250 to 300 dollars.
Yeah don’t pay it just do it yourself! Easy fix
