an unfortunate consequence of selling off our industry, when the Americans, French and Germans own our industry they will prioritise their own plants and factories over ours. They only build Minis and Rolls Royces here to have the 'Made in Britain' label, and massive subsidies. It helps RR being based at Goodwood with all the connotations that has with motor racing and aviation, and RR will always have a ready market for their cars in the Middle East, Russia and soon India and China.
I get the feeling we're in the middle of some mad experiment that might work or it might not, and I don't see how us going green will help the planet when Brazil cuts down the rain forest and china builds a factory every day. I see China now own the world's largest cobalt mine, in Africa as well, the product will have to be taken back to China for processing and then transported across the world for sale. Meanwhile we live in a miserable world of flat car batteries, gloomy low energy light bulbs and ground source heat pumps giving us paltry warmth.

So, my daily driver is a 2006, 1.8 honda civic. it gets around 45mpg which is great. It cost me £1000 to buy it, about 6 years ago and its cost me a new set of brake discs and pads in that time and that's it. 4.5 litres of fuel to the gallon. average mileage of 12,000 miles per year is 266 gallons (1210 litres) of fuel per year used. Petrol is currently £1.34 per litre where I live so if I multiply the 1210 litres by £1.34, is £1,621 per year on fuel.
The average cost of even the cheaper end of the electric cars is £26,000 apparently. Which means that I can continue driving my Honda civic for 16 years before I have even spent just the purchase price of the car alone.. never mind the electric cost, the wear on brakes and tyres because they're twice as heavy as an ICE car... so in what world is buying an electric car more economical than a regular ICE car?

Wind has a low energy density and is erratically intermittent. Wind power is centuries out of date. Wind farms only exist due to massive taxpayer funded subsidies. They make no economic sense. They are a colossal waste of taxpayers money and resources (including coal, oil, copper and rare earth metals) in addition to being a blight on the landscape. Governments should stop wasting taxpayers money and resources on this nonsense.

You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make him drink.
Take me to an E.V. car dealer but you will never make me buy one and I don't care how much you discount it.

Is there a plan for recycling electric cars? The battery is the length of the car. No plans for this.
