Schitterend.
Poor Claudy, in any sense, may he rest in peace now. It was clearly Steve Bauer's fault here, and as I can understand from what he says, well, he will admit he was 'blind to the goal', this was 'his chance', he was 'not gonna lose it': in situations like these, people can do bad things, especially when they feel threatened... and Claudy was more than a threat to him.
Gianmaria Framarin BTW, I'm Italian, but I supported Criquielion that day. Fondriest and Bauer looked much more 'Belgian' to me compared to Claudy, who could definitely pass as a Spaniard or Italian, so... ;-)
Absolutely so, and Bauer never said it wasn't like that, I have to admit he always mantained he was in search of glory that day, his only shot to glory in his career, this blinded him until what he did to Claude. God bless the lion from Lessines.
Yes, of course, no way he'd have beaten Fondriest, but that's exactly why madness got the better of Bauer: he was totally blinded by this one shot of glory, to the expence of Claude. I can only feel so sorry that a Belgian (no matter whether he was a Flemish or a Walloon) was going to win the championship just a few miles away from home and this never happened. :-(

claudy should have become 2 time world champion 1984 and 1988, if it wasn't for bauer
