There is definitely an appalling attitude problem among TfL drivers across the whole of London, and route 38 is one of the worst routes in this respect.
The wheelchair user wanted to alight this 38 service at Buckingham Palace Road-Bressenden Place. He pressed the blue buzzer button in good time. Its special siren alert sounded loud and clear.
In the Big Red Book (2019 edition, pages 100-101), the procedure for 'Getting the wheelchair user off the bus' is laid out very clearly: the driver should let other passengers off through the middle doors, keeping the front doors closed, then close the middle doors, and only after that deploy the ramp and allow the wheelchair user to alight.
Instead of doing this, the driver ignored the Big Red Book procedure and deployed the ramp immediately, without having first let the other passengers alight.
This is yet another disgraceful example of TfL bus drivers' cavalier and unprofessional attitude to the rules, to courtesy, and to the safety and comfort of passengers.
