Awesome….Oliver Stone is truly one of the few enlightened filmmakers in the United States.
Keep speaking up Mr Stone, America needs to hear from you. The world is a little better as a result of your great work. Good health, prosperity and long life to you.

A good health in the very first place! As a matter of fact, I noticed he's looking quite tired lately, and it even seems to me his left arm is kind of partly paralyzed in this new clip. Such a remarkable American public figure must necessarily feel bad about all that has been happening on this miserable planet of ours, over the last few years. Hard times to keep faith in the future of humankind, in spite of the Xmas season. 🙏🏻🙏🏽🙏

The movie ''Patton'' (1970) inspired me to go back to Viet-Nam for my 2nd tour. The movie ''All Quiet On The Western Front'' (1930 film) confirmed what I learned from going to war. The movie ''Platoon'' intensified my remorse for going to war. The movie ''JFK'' caused me to despise the deep swamp that runs the corrupt US government. Oliver Stone is one of my heroes.

In the '60s, we opposed the draft/war in Viet Nam & my husband lost his case in a federal trial & paid the price.
We opposed both the draft/war & also Communism.
Here's the interesting thing: Communism is atheistic materialism by govt. force. It killed millions in Soviet Union, China, & more.
However, the U.S. has meanwhile become a similar regime of atheistic materialism by govt. force.
Therefore as Christians we opposed Communism but ALSO its neo-copycat in the U.S. / MIC that Pres. Eisenhower warned against.
I agree with your good work opposing the endless wars of internal & external regime change. We have become what we supposed we once opposed. Col. Douglas Macgregor is one who spells it out. Viva Crsto Rey.

Talking abt 19 year olds who serve in wars: My dad served in WWII as an old man of 31 years.
He said later: "The younger soldiers followed orders they should have disobeyed, and disobeyed orders that they should have followed." He never openly stated that due to his influence over younger men, lives were saved. But I think he did help. Like others with experience, he once refused orders to take three other soldiers up a hill to take down a flag that was being shot at. Most likely he & his men would have been killed. Although threatened continually with courtmartials, he made it through & was honorably discharged w/ the rank of sergeant in 1946.

America since 1776 has undoubtedly been at war 225 years out of 247 years (roughly 93% of its existence). the US was directly involved in wars and conflicts all over the world out of which the US has undertaken almost 400 military interventions and invasion. including 200 of which took place between 1950 and 2019, of those 200 more than 100 have taken place during the post-Cold War era between 1991 and 2019.

America has to be proud with Oliver Stone.
    The Host was very good.
I and my circle of People were working class, grow up with Oliver Stone"s movies, especially Platoon.
Our Father prepared is for the Army service,at the time was mandatory in Bulgaria.Telling us exactly what Mr.Stone told us in Platoon and this why our service was easy mentally. We knew in advance everything is BS.
At the time(the first half of the1990"s)
even not educated,we made clear difference between Platoon from one side and the stupid movies from another.
I think, this why now the young get in trouble,as They can not make the difference what is right and what is wrong.
And when They face the reality, this how Their mental trouble begins.

I'm writing this from Phong My commune in Ben Tre province, Viet Nam, in the Mekong Delta. We are here visiting my in-laws. Even now 50 years after the war it is astounding how much evidence there is left from the war. There are places you cannot leave the trail because there is unexploded ordnance. There are bomb craters virtually everywhere you walk, now filled in with water. There are still ruined houses, destroyed by bombs. Every little town you visit has a war memorial. The one here in Phong My has more than 240 names of the dead and those were just soldiers. Many more civilians were killed. My wife's family was typical, so many killed in the war it is almost impossible to keep track. Both of her uncles killed, her mother's father, all 3 of her aunt's husbands, all 4 of her children, her brother...

The takeaways are so important so I dared to summarize some of them:

@28:00 - “…he had to go on offbeat radio shows, because he said the truth on CNN one time to somebody and they no longer booked him… It seems to be some corporate control of television and the media that is pushing for war; it’s a very subtle thing, not a conspiracy but a drive towards profit”
@33:36 - “…the press is One of the worst media in this country the mainstream media, thank God for the internet, there are people saying other things, we’ve got to listen to them, you’ve got to look for that stuff because you’re not gonna get if from the top 7 media companies, you’re just not, they don’t want to hear it, they don’t want controversy, just want sell you stuff ”

I served in Vietnam in 1972-1973, everything that Oliver Stone says about Vietnam is the real deal. Four years after Oliver served in Vietnam American young men were still fighting and dying in this war, we sure did not want to be the last soldiers to die in Vietnam, why did the people in Washington continue to prolong the war knowing we could not win it? Money and hubris.

I think if Oliver were to think carefully about the best war movie he knows other than his own it would be Kirk Douglas’s Paths of Glory. Which he did actually reference during this talk. It’s my personal favourite on many different levels. Made in 1957 in black and white.

31:00 ish he says we are not wise diplomats, more or less. Here is an excerpt from "South Asia Papers". by Stephen P. Cohen (not he Stephen F. Cohen who was his mentor). "I was astonished; the much-vaunted American government had a weaker capacity to recall past events than the Indians, who fanatically kept up their files, minuting every conversation (including my interview with the officials I was meeting). Things have improved with computer-based data systems, but Indians are much better prepared for discussions with American counterparts than one would expect. Indeed, there have been instances when American negotiators had to be prompted or corrected by Indian and Pakistani interlocutors regarding America’s own position on various issues."

    to break that lock: ...Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place;
[13] That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it?
... And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the LORD shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it.
[33] For Tophet is ordained of old...
Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the ashes, ye principal of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like a pleasant vessel.
[35] And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape.
[36] A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and an howling of the principal of the flock, shall be heard: for the LORD hath spoiled their pasture.
