The man was a comedy genius one of England's greatest and was destroyed by the tabloid press and an overzealous Police force hounding him to his grave RIP Freddie Starr
I saw Freddie live in the 80s. The whole audience was laughing ,including me, tears of laughter, all the way through the performance. He did Ray Charles there too.
Freddie was an unbelievable talent and had a great singing voice. He was actually offered the opportunity to join The Beatles and turned it down. Really funny man.
Haha, genius! Never seen this before, it's hilarious. I remember Freddie being on TV when I was younger but I didn't really appreciate his talent. He's brilliant. Thanks for the reaction guys.
The Mick Jagger one made him Famous did all his own stunts too, my Favourite of all time, Such a pity how he ended up alone in Spain completely broken thanks to the tabloids and a few other gold digger RIP Freddie x
Saw him live 1976. A place outside London called the circus tavern. Most of the audience went home in ambulances due to stomach pains. Try find him in interviews on the Des O’Connor show (70s) when he was totally out of control. As we say around here “Nuhhah” ie nut case.
Saw him a few times in end of the pier shows, brilliant He used to run down the steps in to a hole in the stage, fall off the stage He'd have kids (Me) and people of every age crying with laughter. He was just funny Too good for TV
Freddie Starr was a comedy genius and the false accusations against him enhanced by the gutter press and obvious leaks from the police to them was appalling.
As mentioned in other comments this was his debut appearance at the Royal Variety Show, because of the set time for performers (being televised live) they had a strict rule of no encores but the reaction from the audience was so much so that the shows host stalled presenting the next act to call him out for another bow of applause which given the standing rule was unheard of at the time, cheers Freddie
The Mick Jagger spoof was a small part of a routine at the Royal Variety Show in 1970. It first bought him to our attention. There are a few shorter versions on UA-cam but if you look for "freddie starr royal variety show 1970" make sure you get the 11 minute version. You won't regret it.
Did Brad just say that Freddy Starr was doing Ray Charles & Mick Jagger, that explains why Jagger walks that way but I didn't know Ray liked men, I thought he was married!!! BTW you don't have to be a gymnast to do the splits, like anything you just have to stretch your legs, eventually you build up enough muscle in your legs that it becomes easy, I should know, I used to do the splits till I reached my 30s

For all his talent he wasn’t a nice man by all accounts.

Freddie was a major star in the 70s and 80s in Britain, but he really should have been a big international celebrity.

Blimey still alive. Lol be careful. Your underwear is not insured for storm damage!
Starr is disliked by many Brits - why are so many reacting to him at the moment?
Because your opinion does not represent everyone
Freddy Starr was avery UN funny man.
Screw the PC stuff. This is when people had a good laugh. Nobody was offended. Just having a good time.
