Phil was a background singer before stepping out as a solo artist. He's one of the few who could touch one of Aretha's songs, and do so with her approval. He's a great singer. #WhatUpDoe
I haven't heard this song before, but I gave it a 'like' simply because it's Phil Perry. He has vocals that always amazes all of us Phil Perry fans. I'm grateful you had the opportunity to listen to him sing, Ashley.

@@hymanandhyman Yeah, I've heard the Aretha Franklin "Call Me" before. It's just that it's Phil Perry putting his voice to it. He definitely didn't sound anything like Aretha.
Hello, Ashley! Phil Perry is one of the most underrated singers of all time. From this album i like the song "Forever" (live version). In The 70s he was the lead singer of the group The Montclairs, may i suggest you to try "Make Up For Lost Time". Cheers from Brazil.

I am so glad you did Phil Perry! I just turned 50, so this came out and hit #1 on the charts during my sophomore year in high school. My older brother and his friend actually went to see him perform when this album came out and he said it was the best show he'd been to. For touring, the great Dave Koz played saxophone for Phil, but for the studio version of this song, it might have been the other great Kirk Whalum, I'm not sure.
Very nice rendition of Aretha Franklin song "Call Me". I never thought anyone would revisit that song. Especially, make it sound just as good. The Saxophone and his vocals blend beautifully. Great Job!!!
I am so surprised you reacted to Phil. I personally know Phill and worked with on a number of occasions. I have worked with many artists and I can honestly say He is one of the most underrated artist of all time. If you never heard him sing live then you’re missing out. If he comes to your town I highly recommend you to get a ticket. You might able to catch perform at a Jazz Fest. To be honest he sounds better in live performance. 😉😉
