    Thank you for sharing this video! Great machines from the past! Modern things are not so interesting and involving. At least for that's true.

    Really love the sound of the drum speeding up. Sounds like an airplane! haha

    Back in 1972, during the Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany, my Dad brought home from his office a Sony reel to reel video tape deck. It was Black and White. I would record events of the day. This was before the massacre of the Israeli Athletes.

    For those wondering what is on the tape, it is an episode of the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory.

    Great job! There are very few IVC recorders in operation today.

      +videolabguy I worked at a local tv station where we/I got one of these working. Unfortunately they kicked me out of that place when new bosses took place and found I had too much influence. It was me though who made it possible to get about 150 IVC tapes out of a basement of someone, and cared about them personally. Tapes of the first local tv station in Europe. It was me who traced the original IVC recorders and with some help put one back to work. It was me who initiated to get those tapes digitalized. I had exactly that machine standing in front of me, operating it, testing it, did everything...... I Love that machine, I Loved that local tv station. Last I heard was that with that one working IVC machine they were able to digitalize all the old IVC tapes. I never saw it. And for that I am still mad at the people who wanted me to get out of there. Sorry. Love to watch that machine, I got it working. But it also really hurts if people take the access to your passion away.

    That is rare: capstan/pinch roller before the videodrum/take up reel.

    私は日本に居ますしかし日本では、こんな斬新なマシンは、存在していません、古臭い大型2インチ時代は永く、やっとSONYタイプC1インチの文化がきました。

    An episode of Colombo brought me here.

      Columbo "Playback" 1974. To give himself an alibi, 'guest-villain' Oscar Werner records the shooting of his mother-in-law on an IVC videotape machine, and rigs a timer to play it on the security-guard's monitor after he leaves for an art show. Unfortunately, while the villain isn't visible, the videotape faithfully records his invitation to rhe art show still sitting on a desk! 🙂

    Ok this is tooooooo weird. They hit play on the video recorder and the Big Bang Theory show started playing on the TV. I am watching the Big Bang Theory on TV. Soooooo weird.

    Does the video head assembly use two heads 180° apart? Very clean transport design. Well cared for, too.

      No, it is just 1 head so it runs at 3600rpm.

    What should I be looking for when powering up an 870 after it's been sitting for 30 plus years? Thanks.

      With mine there was a strange combination of light bulb and photocell that picked up the head rotation speed. Light bulb was burnt out. Replaced with LED. Also be careful because a lot of the control logic (relais and switches) are at mains voltage.

    What sort of system was this? Any one-inch standard, B or C, or something just for IVC?

    Question... How do you record from tv to that?

    • @tpawlik
      @tpawlik  6 років тому +2

      It was recorded using a converter box from digital broadcast TV.

    • @tpawlik

      There is definitely something wrong with the color processor. There is a knob below the head drum that changes the tint. Can't find anything about it in the manual.

      ok, you 'fooled us'...no hooking or tracking read readout....no 'lockup time' on video displayed....going thru a TBC....may not....vision from another solurce....i know, i used models 761,871,961 in production in the 70's...terrible interchange....without a TBC you're stuffed....

    • @davidmcgowan176
      @davidmcgowan176 3 роки тому

      yes...i see a for-a tbc.....still no good on interchange....no good for library playbacks even if recorded on same machine...!

      IVC had it's own format. Smaller head drum for sure.

      Once had access to the similar machine but not in such good shape. I made a video of it wanting to explain IVC etc. But only had a consumer miniDV camcorder then. Got home and it had not recorded.... Few weeks later quit working at the place where they had this machine.

    • @johnpommon1775

      IVC was an open reel to reel 1" format. JVC was a cassette tape format.
