You all know how awesome it is to have a dog, right?? Well for all my life, I could only dream of having one. And when my cousin’s family had to give up their dog years ago, I lost the only interaction I had with them. And he was eventually replaced with…sigh…two cats, which I am unfortunately…allergic to. It’s a bummer. Yes I have two cats of my own, but sadly don’t have the greatest bond with them these days. As they’ve grown older, I’ve grown increasingly allergic. They were fine when they were kittens, young adults… Now my nose goes insane and I get congested, ending up feeling like I’m sick if I spend 10-20 minutes with cats, so can’t even spend much time with them. I don’t have these issues with dogs, and a trip to the animal shelter confirmed it. It’s really sad and painful to not have a furry companion I can be comfortable around and, well…cats aren’t dogs. With all the things I’m fond of and wish to do, including outdoor activities, a dog is more my thing.
And as someone who got bullied excessively growing up, and now has social anxiety issues that I have to work on, a dog has been something so appealing to me for so long. A little buddy by my side who won’t let me down…and will be my best friend. I know having one will also help my lacking social skills, as it’s always easier talking to people when I’m around or have something I love to talk about!
