I just wanna say... Whoever did the picture at the beginning has a VERY good technical understanding of hands. To make a picture comprised of only that, but put each hand in a totally different pose, doing the same thing, at the same perspective, *and* convey the different personalities of each character they belong to is pretty impressive.
Sure. For one thing, the anatomy rendering of the hands is just, in general, godlike. Let's just get that out of the way. From the shading, to skin tones, to bone structure, to skin texture, to detailing of the fabrics in their cuffs/accessories, these are perfectly, expertly drawn. Hands holding cards is a very mundane topic for an image. Especially when there isn't so much as a single visage of the characters the hands belong to, let alone the rest of their bodies to show further expression. But the hands here present a lot of individual character alone in their surprisingly various positions. Even if you don't know the characters, even if you don't know the cards they're holding, you can look at the posing of their hands and it speaks volumes to how the owner may carry themselves. Some hands are confident. Some give an air of aloof arrogance. Some are very calmly prim. Others present a direct rigidity. Some are just flamboyantly elegant. Being able to demonstrate a breadth of range for arguably *the* single most difficult part of the body to the point of making them this expressive takes years of honing.

Picky Psychology Student Chazz's official ace is Ojama King, but I don't know if that saw any play. From the shows I've seen, the aces of the main antagonists are: Duel Monsters - Bakura - Dark Necrofear GX - Yubel - Yubel (although not the final bad, I don't think the cards of the Darkness could be played irl).
I'd love the side character but which would be the one for GX? the other shows are situated just not Gx. The only common trend I can see in best friends is that at least one monster they own and consider an ace has 2800 atk. Ex Gilford the Lightning, Black Winged Dragon, Abyss Splash
Who else as a kid wanted cards that looked like the ones in the anime with almost no card information except attack and defense and an enormous graphic that took up the entire top of the card?
From a 2018 standpoint (my opinion, of course): *Dark Magician* - terrible as a standalone card, but has a decent deck built around it *E-HERO Neos* - also terrible as a standalone card, and unlike Dark Magician, any deck built around him is generally NOT that good *Stardust Dragon* - quite good as a standalone card, and you don't need a deck built around it either *Number 39: Utopia* - decent as a standalone card. Though you don't really need a deck built around it, it's best used as part of a game-changing combo with Utopia Lightning. *Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon* - decent as a standalone card, and has a decent deck built around it *Firewall Dragon* - This shit's just unfair. Need I say more?
Dark Magician: Trash Neos: Garbage, but at least we got some good support in Savage Strike, I guess Stardust Dragon: Really good, a bit powercrept tho Utopia: Not the worst, but pretty bad rank 4 despite the utility Odd-Eyes: Good pendulum effect but slow, rank 7 material. If only Galaxy Tomahawk wasn't banned... Firewall: Card's BANNED, so yeah, it's gotta be pretty good
I still can't believe they made so much support for a lv 7 vanilla beater. Seriously, all the cards that specifically support Dark Magician would've been better if there was an effect monster whose name is always treated as 'Dark Magician'
No, a monster with a similar effect to Cyber Harpie Lady, which means that it is treated as a specific monster all the time, even when it's in the deck
Dark Magician is at best an underdog. See guys, it makes sense in the anime! Yugi was an underdog until he got better cards and won mainly by plot arm- heart of the cards
Andres Arancio wait heart of the cards is yugi cheating with magic confirmed by the creator he’s controlling destiny and creating cards from The aether
1. It isn't the Ace, it is decode talker. 2. If we go by the 2500 atk rule, his Ace monster is Cyberse Clock Dragon, not Firewall. 3. Ban the fucking thing.
Crimson Koba Cyberse Clock Dragon is more like Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon, so one could really go either way. Also, Firewall could still become relevant like Stardust did a good amount of time after the latter's introduction but with Firewall's shining point being much more postponed. You never know, really.
*_Obviously the best Ace card was Mushroom Man. His attack with Poison Spores gives you an Automatic Win. If the enemy tries to use Exodia, Exodia gets obliterated by Mushroom Man. Really, this card is so OP._*
Fusionist is the best though it's fusion materials are a pain to put in the deck. It's ATK and effect is clearly too overwhelming and it stood the test of time being used in almost every deck in the competitive meta
Yea I wanna see the antagonist's monsters. Along with potentially the main side characters (Joey, Crow, Akiza, Syrus, Blue Angel, the other "Yu" boys from Arc V, etc.)
+Majestic Gothitelle That's because the Code Talkers fulfill the Junk Warrior archetype, rather than the Dark Magician one - at least in theory, considering in execution it really seems like Firewall got absolutely _cucked._
Arctangent I like to think that they planned fire wall to be the ace but they saw how broken the card was and rewrote big parts of the show to replace him and appease competitive players. Wouldn’t be the first time. They did it with black wings and Crow.
The secondary main monsters are all 2300. We've got Decode stalker of the Vrains era, Junk Warrior of the 5D's era, and Gaia the Fierce Night of the original era.
BronySquid yeah, and maybe the rivals while we're at it. I mean, some of the antagonists are up in the air for a main antagonist, but their aces are generally pretty awesome. You got Marik, with Ra, and I would call him the most iconic antagonist from dm, you got either Saio with Arcana Force EX The Light Ruler, which is . . . There? Or you could have Yubel, with . . . Yubel . . . Or hell, the Sacred Beasts, even. Then with 5ds, I would say either the Earthbound Immortals or the Meklords, or possibly Z-ONEs Timelords. Which are about to be low key meta, by the way. Then we move on to . . . What, Heraldry Crest? I haven't finished Zexal yet, but I can't think of a big bad boss monster from it yet . . . Haven't finished the don thousand thing yet though. Then Arc-V, with Z-Arc, easy, it's great but hard to summon, but like Rainbow Neos, it can be successful in turbo decks. Finally we get Borreload Dragon, and that card is almost as good as Firewall. If not better.
I love to play Dark Magician with the windwitch engine; aside from that you have a lot of Extra-Deck possibilities to overcome DMs „-500 ATK“ weakness point. Dark Magician the Dragon Knight got 3000 ATK too... and the Amulet Dragon even gains 100 ATK for every Spell Card in your grave and the grave of your opponent. Dark Magician is fun, although it may not be highly competitive in terms of Meta Deck Profiles. But who cares? 🤷🏼♀️ You can make some really nice profiles around this card and if you love it just do it.
So can we get a video on Why Nobody Plays the Earthbound Immortals? Because while I know why, we have videos on the god cards, the sacred beasts, and nothing for 5ds. And that's not really applicable for Zexal or 5ds, because everybody plays number cards and many people play the dimension dragons, or variations of them, namely Crystal Wing and Odd-eyes Vortex.
Heh, silly me, I was about to explain the whole "Well it dies to MST, bricks easily, and is neg incarnate like other uber boss monsters" but you noted you know why already. I'd imagine he considers why they're bad way, way more obvious though. Since it kinda is. For all that, if your opponent doesn't have an immediate answer, they're a more effective immediate win condition than the others, it does seem like why they're bad for effort is actually more obvious than the others. Well, except for people who don't believe in card economy.
Most people don't even know what they do though. Just a video to get them more well known would be nice. (I may or may not have spent money to build an Earthbound Immortal Lair of Darkness deck so I may or may not be biased towards the immortals.)
That was really interesting. I hope to see more of those discussions. So I guess rival ace monsters would be cool to see even though for some such as GX and arc V, its hard to tell what is really their ace.
while i love the yugioh anime to death even as an adult, you cant deny that even the jp version is outrageous and goofy and over-the-top. is it savage as hell and shockingly violent sometimes? sure, but even considering that, it's still very much an adolescent kind of show that i cant blame anyone for outgrowing. this isnt a dig at the anime! i love how over-the-top it is.
@@yilvoxe4017 I would agree, unless we are talking about Dawn of the Duel and 5DS. Both of those just seem to drop any childfriendly Yugioh is known for, lol.
What I learned Duel monsters - Nostalgic, but not very good when you take a deeper look. GX - The protagonist people like to shit on, from the series people like to shit on, gets a card people like to shit on. it's honestly kind of poetic. 5Ds - The best series (fight me) gets the best monster. Zexal - It's kinda there...no one really cares about it... I didn't watch the other series so I'll won't comment on them I did start arcV and it is pretty cool so far.
Why is Utopia above Odd-Eyes? Utopia fucking sucks in competitive, where there's monster removal galore. Don't try to cop out and say he can make Lightning, we're talking about BASE ace monsters. And in that case, Odd-Eyes should actually be second place, as his ability allowed him to destroy himself and float into another, better Odd-Eyes monster with better scales, therefore he can be pendulum summoned back out. He also has a good attack boost if you want to get over a big beater. Stardust can only stop ONE effect mind you, it is not a full negation. And with tthtthe rise of cards such as Ash Blossom, Ghost Ogre, Solemn cards, and anything that prevents effects and stops summons can quickly fuck over Stardust. So, while Utopia is merely XYZ fodder and Stardust is a single negate, Odd-Eyes floats into recursion, AND has an attack booster.
But Neos wasn't Jaden's first ace card. He didn't start with it. His original ace card might be something like Flame Wingman, because that was that "saved the day" the most.
@@vali_bg4252 No he wasn't. Neos showed up in the second season, while not showing up at all in the first. And his fluff text reads: "A new Elemental HERO has arrived from Neo Space! His Contact Fusion gives way to his mysterious powers." Key word, 'arrived.'
I was actually far more interested in the antagonist cards lol, was hoping both would be in this video. Therefore, I would definitely say yes to a follow-up.
ImpendingGhost Actually, because he barely uses, it kind of reinforces the fact that it is his ace monster. You should only summon your ace monster when you really need to, not for every little duel you have.
I'd like a series on competitive viability of character decks. Going through all known cards of like Akiza's plant deck, the effectiveness of the strategy, what cards have come out for the archetype in the pendulum, xyz, and link era. I think it could make for a fun video series could be a challenge for the earlier cast like Tea who didn't duel much
I’ve been attached to Ghostricks ever since I started playing YuGiOh!, so I have to say that my ace would be Ghostrick Angel of Mischief, the Rank 4 XYZ monster of the archetype. It actually has 2000 Attack and 2500 Defense being swapped Attack and defense from the normal ace monsters, an alternate win condition, and can be summoned on top of another Ghostrick XYZ with a different name.
Dark Magician made one contribution to the game that shouldn't be overlooked. It didn't take long for Konami to realize that dark magician was bad, so he got a lot of support in Magician's force and structure deck Yugi 2 (Japan only). It wasn't much, but it was the first time that Konami devoted an entire support base to one monster. These days, nearly every iconic anime monster has a deck around it to make up for its lack of inherent playability
Ace monsters in a nutshell DM:I train underage girls to learn dark magic, I also used to be a person Neos: I pretend to stand in the back and be cool when I’m actually looking at Aqua dolphin’s ass SD: I commit suicide on a regular basis Utopia: don’t speak to me, my son, or my other son ever again Odd eye: I wear different contacts to make people laugh and hide my depression. Firewall: IM BANNED LOL
DM - As much as I really liked DM way back then, even having him as my first ever Ace Monster when I started, I know his deck isn't the best. But I know some DM decks are still pretty good. GX - Looking forward to the new Neos cards. I'll be sure to get the tins for them. 5d's - Stardust and Synchro Monsters got me back into the game after GX. I might be tempted to build a Junk/Stardust build as my only deck from this series with the new tin support. ZEXAL - Utopia has his own deck, so why do people just see him as a means in other R4NK decks? Arc-V - We don't have all the Odd-Eyes support from the OCG, so I really can't say too much about this one. Not to mention the 3 different variants. (Fusion, Synchro, Xyz) VRAINS - Hitting Firewall to 1 was a good call. I feel like you only ever need 1. Those triple Firewall plays were too openly broken.
To answer your Utopia question of why nobody (I'd like to say nearly but let's be real) plays his deck, hmm, how do I put it.. it's because he fucking sucks major nutsack. Sure, attack negation may have been decent six years ago.. but we're not in that time period anymore. The main thing with the Utopias is their ATK boosting, to which the only useful one is Lightning since he has both effect negation on attack and attack boosting, negation being an ability that only Lightning has for some reason. In a new era where battle traps and traps in general are rarely played anymore, Usage of Lightning has staggered, along with the rest of his brethren, although they were already fucked. You see, there's this thing called power creep that hit these guys (even when they weren't that good to begin with), and it certainly doesn't help that the archetype(s) that support them are trash that barely work together, like Gagaga, Dododo, Zubaba, and Gogogo (how the fuck Yuma managed to dump four tiny little archetypes together with no consistency, floating, searching, and power, and still makes them work is a mystery. Seriously, his deck barely works in the TCG.) can't frequently put out one monster without it dying immediately.
not just that, all his support cards are for Code Talkers & in over 50 episodes it's only been summoned about 3 times & there's no personal connection to the MC at all such as Stardust had, I don't consider it his Ace atm
I just assumed they stopped showing Firewall becouse it is limited (and close to getting banned). So they cant realy advertise and sell more copies/upgrades.
I can agree with the "Number 39: Utopia", there isn't anything crazy about him but i think we will always see him somewhere in the background but never gone. He's just "good ole' reliable".
Dark Magician: Not Blue Eyes for those two tributes or Summoned Skull for one. Current support doesn't do enough compared to other decks. Neos: Was made in an age where someone in Konami balanced its support too much. Stardust Dragon: The limits of how powerful an ace card should be. Utopia: The card itself is okay, but it's simply a tool. Similar to Stardust, it should've been an example of what an xyz should've been. Odd Eyes: What pendulums should've been, but came too late. Firewall Dragon: Time until banned, 3, 2 ,1.....
It's usually split between how good they were at the time of release and how much better they got with later support. Themes like Cyber Dragons, Galaxy-Eyes, and Blackwings got some good stuff. BEWD came back huge.
I love to do a certain thing with Utopia in my Dinosaur deck. I play Utopia double. So i summon it, use its effect to get an Utopia with 5000 ATK and double or nothing. I negate Utopias own attack and use double or nothing for a juicy 10.000 ATK attack. It's fun and can lead to some funny OTKs
Because Yugi's was so they all have to be similar. Same reason Kaiba, Jack, and Revolver's monsters all have 3000 ATK. For Nostalgia and clarity's purpose.
Naruto Uzumaki yes in the manga thats his signature card but in the anime I still consider Ojama King his ace especially since Duel Links considers it his ace card as well.
Eternal Soul, Dark Magical Circle, Dark Magician the Dragon Knight, Dark Magician (From Eternal Soul) and Secret Village of the Spellcasters. That combo has a fairly decent softlock, especially since all cards listed are searchable minus the Dragon Knight.
Even though this comment doesn't disprove your stuff on your utopia statements, like "utopia is just a stepping stone", I find it surprising you didn't mention the meta playability that rank up magic argent chaos force had with it in order to make number s0: Utopic ZEXAL. The card saw alot of game experimentation recently (until argent got banned), and it certainly had more use than lightning at ZEXAL locking your opponent
Two theoretical spell cards that might make Dark Magicians slightly better: False Grave: Move a Dark Magician from your GY to your hand and move a Dark Magician Girl from your deck to your hand. While this card is in your GY, it's name becomes "Dark Magician". Title transfer: Remove a level 7 or higher spell caster from your GY. Add a Spellcaster of lesser level from your GY to your hand. While this card is in the GY, all Magician Girl cards are considered "Magician of Black Chaos". Just a thought. Considering you'd mostly be gaining monsters that don't have inherent means of summoning themselves, I think that's fair.
I'd love to you to talk about those monster, but kaiba, manjome, etcetera are not really antagonist as much as they are rivals, the real antagonist are other people in those animes
Just looking to start a thread for people to share if they had an ace monster and why Mine was Star Eater. I drew it from a JOTL and loved him immediately. It took a little while to learn how to use him properly, but even in early days summoning him meant someone was in for a bad time. He perfectly matched my patient playstyle in a trap heavy casual meta, and was quite easy to Synchro Climb into with a Synchron deck
As well as the antagonists like kaiba, chazz, and jack I think it would be cool to look at some of the real villians of some of the villians like Marik, Aster Phoenix, and Earth Bound Immortals. Not sure if you have already but i would like to see a review of some of the GX era structure decks like the zombie madness structure deck and dragon's roar. I think that while the zombie cards in zombie madness were not great it is important to point out how great some of the commons were.
Yusagu getting monster with 2500atk for every summon methods his firewall dragon, degrade buster, cyberse magician, cyberse clock dragon and more in the future. Unlike firewall dragon the code talker bing summon more often and have support like all the other ace monster have to make it his ace.
Neos is also surprisingly very splashable in duel links able to fit into many other deck types. Cyber dark being the most famous I think. See it a lot with koiki core since their ace monster got limited this helps give them more power and still keep the same sp summon beatdown strategy. And my own personal favorite water neos. How it works is run a standard water deck with abyss soldiers mobius etc then run the atlantaen engine you commonly see with mermails. Use jadens neo space skill for a free field spell to most importantly allow you to keep neo space aqua neos on the field. You can discard either atlantean for a 2 for 1 trade off as it will make your opponent discard and your atlantean will kill a face up or fd card as well. So an easy +1. Along with your powerful monster this can create huge advantage. Combine with abyss soldier as your normal summon you can easily generate huge card advantage and easily OTK in many duels. Alternatively you can tech in sinister serpent too and use it as an option for the other neos fusion, thus like an easy way to get sinister serpent. And even with the erratta it’s still really good here as you can use it for a free discard cost, or space it out with your atlantean discards so use it every other turn to almost get its old school effect of brokenness.
Loaded Gorrilla: you can be competitive with DM. It was already competitive before the fusion and now it's even better. All we need is for Timaeus to be searchable.
now, Blue Eyes may be my (Main) Decks big theme but you would not believe how often Deep-Eyes White Dragon has won me games...its kinda scary actually, either I always have it and need it later, I draw it the turn before my opponent thinks he has me beat, or I never draw it because I never need it. I would whole-heartedly consider Deep-Eyes my Ace as it seems to have a mind of its own and is always there for me.
Not to say i havent lost. I have just not to blue eyes or red eyes. Ever. Its flawed though cuz most of the support cards stop at XYZ at least thats all ive found, but if you run it right Dark Magician is a killer
Gavin O' Connor yes, i know. I said that if we had all of his support, that combine with contact out already being a free card would make him decent. Reread my comment.
(DM player here) if DM players really want to seem credible, then they should stop being so angry at people who don't like the deck. With me, I just explain why I think it's a good deck but others just go off and get so angry.
I came here for Dark Magician and you’re 100% right it’s easily a good rouge deck for fun casual play but most times you will not dance well with the meta. However the new support is pretty good and genuinely a fun deck, which isn’t bad because, not all decks need to be a top meta deck to have a good game with.
RIP Normal Monsters....Really miss seeing flavor text on cards nowadays. I wish Konami would change Effect Monster cards to still show some flavor text somewhere.
I prefer meta decks, but the deck that I like to casually run (Crystal Beasts) I don't want to be near meta due to cards being able to be banned and mirror matches
i mainly use my slightly modified legendary dragon knight deck, i love it, i can't not, especially since everyone in my town plays dumb moves so i basically can get away with most decks so i use my legendary dragon knights deck because i love dark magician, the style of all the cards just interests me
I think there are only a couple issues with pinning down antagonist aces, compared to protagonists... well, two cases I can think of. Zexal: is kinda unique in the yugioh-verse, in that you could argue that the "kaiba" role belongs to two different people, with two different aces. Arc-v: Akaba Reiji is unique among all the kaiba clones in that he didn't really have an "ace" monster. Doom King Armageddon is usually put in the role, such as in the fanart of your video, due to having stats similar to blue eyes, but he only used it once. Reiji's schtick was versatility, having a different boss monster for each different situation, which would make identifying "the" DD boss monster difficult. having said all that, I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on how the antagonist boss monsters stack up/stacked up in the actual meta. this was a fun video.
U know what would be a pretty good card for Neos? A field spell card that reads "Once Per Turn during ur standby phase, send one Elemental Hero Neos from your deck to the graveyard and add one Neo-Spacian from your deck to your hand to fusion summon one Elemental Hero Monster with the correct materials listed on this monster from your extra deck. As long as this card remains face up on the field, monsters with Neos in its name is unaffected by monster effects. Monsters with Neo Spacian in their name cannot be banished. During the opponents main phase 1, if you control an Elemental Hero Neos monster, you can add one Neo-Spacian from your deck to your hand; send that Elemental Hero Neos Monster from your side of the field to the graveyard and fusion summon an Elemental Hero Neos monster from your extra deck with the correct listed materials. All monsters removed from the field either by effect or by battle with a Neo-Spacian monster is banished instead."
I'd love to see one about the Rivals ace monsters tho this brings up the question. What is Chazz's true ace monster? Armed Dragon Lv 10? VWXYZ Dragon Catapult Cannon? Ojama King? Only a mystery.
Paused at 11:36. Did I read this right? "If a monster this card points to is destroyed..." Points to? I havent played yugioh since high school (to give a time frame, this was around when everyone was playing blackwings and just before pendulums came out). Do we have three diminisonal holographic cards with random pointing mechanics now?
It's to do with the newest summoning mechanic: link summoning, basically they were created to slow down the game from crazy extra deck summoning. Look at the link summoning tutorial on the yu gi oh channel to understand it. I will warn that link summoning is a highly controversial mechanic mainly due to the fact that it was kind of forced on the game.
Neos does actually have a ton of support. Maybe he's not great but I think he's better than dark magician. He has a ton of support and is used in many useful fusions. This is coming from a casual player who uses a deck with neos in.
My ace card would either be Necroface (Though it would see the banished pile more than the field) or Gren Maju da Eiza, just because I love the freaking banish mechanics (Which I hope get a little support in the future. Like, cmon, give me a card that negate the effects of banished monsters in the opponent's pile, or something to flip face-down banished cards).
Rivals Dragon cards have always been the best, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, Cyber Dragon, Red Nova Dragon, Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon have all been my favourite cards to play.

Dark Magician is the best (Obviously) because it has 100 more DEF than the others.
Then do that denigrate buster the best ace due to it having 2500def
Also it obviously says on DM, that he is the best.
And Firewall Dragon is the worst, because it has no defense. Lol.
only...in terms of defense...not attack
It fits better knowing it's kinda shit. Because Yugi without Yami is kind of an underdog.

Chazz's official ace is Ojama King, but I don't know if that saw any play.
From the shows I've seen, the aces of the main antagonists are:
Duel Monsters - Bakura - Dark Necrofear
GX - Yubel - Yubel (although not the final bad, I don't think the cards of the Darkness could be played irl).
My Ace card is Pot of Greed. coz you see, when I play this card, I get to draw two (2) more cards.
SadboySlim This madlad has figured it out!
😮😮😮
So that's what it does.
Can you explain it even more simple? Pot of Greed is just too complex for me to figure out...
but what does it actually do
Summoned Skull had the same Attack as Dark Magician, but only took a single tribute.
Yea but yugi using the archfiend archetype wouldave been too edgy lol
Dark Driceratops is even better 100 less attack but it had piercing effect
@@AlphaC0re its is all about attack with vanilla monsters (no effect)
Uganda Knuckles Christ exactly . Dude is Litteraly an idiot
Ali M yes attack is not everything but having the same attack no effect for both dark magician and summoned skull but one needs 2 tributes
Yuya's ace isn't odd eyes, it's the action spell cards.
LMAO, YES!
Truer words have never been said
Then by that logic Yuma's ace is NOT Utopia but Double-Up Chance.
And also Action cards take more skill to use than "Heart of the Cards" or "Shining Draw". And also they are not just exclusive to the main chracter.
In that case my signature card is Unending nightmare
I would love both a rival ace monster video, as well as a side character ace monster (stuff like red-eyes and blackwings)
I would lime that

Ha, yeah. Apparently, you can buy cards exactly like that, online. I think they're supposed to be for cosplays and such.
They are called "orica" cards
Took me a while to find out myself I've orded a dark magician 1
But you're mistaken, Atem's ace monster is clearly Kuribo, not Dark Magician.
No. Atem's ace is plot armor.
atems ace is yugi
@@lpfan4491 Yeah, but Yugi was too good a card so it got banned, just like Atem
Atems ace is *BeAvEr WaRrIoR!!!*
isnt atem's ace is the DM and yugi's ace is the kuriboh..
From a 2018 standpoint (my opinion, of course):
*Dark Magician* - terrible as a standalone card, but has a decent deck built around it
*E-HERO Neos* - also terrible as a standalone card, and unlike Dark Magician, any deck built around him is generally NOT that good
*Stardust Dragon* - quite good as a standalone card, and you don't need a deck built around it either
*Number 39: Utopia* - decent as a standalone card. Though you don't really need a deck built around it, it's best used as part of a game-changing combo with Utopia Lightning.
*Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon* - decent as a standalone card, and has a decent deck built around it
*Firewall Dragon* - This shit's just unfair. Need I say more?
Shoutout to Stardust Dragon for standing the test of time
Dark Magician: Trash
Neos: Garbage, but at least we got some good support in Savage Strike, I guess
Stardust Dragon: Really good, a bit powercrept tho
Utopia: Not the worst, but pretty bad rank 4 despite the utility
Odd-Eyes: Good pendulum effect but slow, rank 7 material. If only Galaxy Tomahawk wasn't banned...
Firewall: Card's BANNED, so yeah, it's gotta be pretty good
Eh idk , Utopia has lightning and Double if you want a really cheeky OTK

no its trash
Too bad he's banned. Kappa
You mean dante right
If its in you deck you automatically get dqed. ITS THAT GOOD!
Farfa was disq for this list

I think even people that never played Yugioh! competitvely know that Dark Magician was always bad
Even when I was a kid I took a look at Summoned Skull and asked "Why doesn't Yugi use this?"
I still can't believe they made so much support for a lv 7 vanilla beater. Seriously, all the cards that specifically support Dark Magician would've been better if there was an effect monster whose name is always treated as 'Dark Magician'
so the fusion ?
No, a monster with a similar effect to Cyber Harpie Lady, which means that it is treated as a specific monster all the time, even when it's in the deck
Haruhiro Grimgar Yugi does use summoned skull, at least early on in the show. Dark magician is still treated like his ace for some reason.
The power of fellowship
the power of some sexy old egyptian dude locked in some puzzle thingy
“Thicc plot armor”😂
Phim And Charman *THICC*
We appear to be confusing Dark Magician with Dark Magician Girl.
Firewall Dragons plot armor is still protecting him from being banned...
FlyingMoleable I doubt they'll ever ban the protag's ace.
And even that probably won't save it considering how little Yusaku uses the damn thing.
The firewall has been broken.
Doug’s ace monster is chaos max
I've noticed that every main character in Yu-Gi-Oh main monster card attack is 2500 ATK......
Except for the code talkers
+Majestic Gothitelle That's because the Code Talkers fulfill the Junk Warrior archetype, rather than the Dark Magician one - at least in theory, considering in execution it really seems like Firewall got absolutely _cucked._
Arctangent I like to think that they planned fire wall to be the ace but they saw how broken the card was and rewrote big parts of the show to replace him and appease competitive players. Wouldn’t be the first time. They did it with black wings and Crow.
Frank West or they have code T as the personal fav of the protag. Just like flamewingman and junk warrior.
The secondary main monsters are all 2300. We've got Decode stalker of the Vrains era, Junk Warrior of the 5D's era, and Gaia the Fierce Night of the original era.
I think it would be cool to review the antagonists' ace monsters.
The Four Star Gamer borreload is more generic but not as game breaking as firewall
He says he's doing it in the video ya big dumb
Shapesnatch is the best ace monster
Ojama Lime is the rival ace monster.
Squigin, WHAT!!!! SPOILERS!!! I haven't gotta'n to that part yet. I'm still on the Mumkey Jones Arc.
Well OBVIOUSLY Abaki snatched the shape of the One Whose Shape Was Snatched, idiots. Get your knowledge on.
This is why Rata cries blood
No they wouldn't put a card that powerful in the show
Spheal is the best ace monster
POCKET monster!
Wrong show Knuckles, go home. You're drunk.
YES
Pfft who needs a spheal when all you really need is a magikarp
Nah all of you are thinking of the one and only shrek
Dark magician topped a few regionals before. I'd probably say tier 2 at best. But not as bad as you make the deck seem.
Jonathan Baxter regionals don't matter.
Noble knights topped a few regionals. That doesn't make them good.
Yes but it does make them not Garbage.
🤷🏼♀️ You can make some really nice profiles around this card and if you love it just do it.
regional tops aren't enough though.
Uhmm obviously because the earthbound immortals take the souls of innocent people duhhh
Judging from your streams, Tyranno is your ace monster.
It’s toadally awesome.
We all know Chaos MAX is his Ace monster
His ace monster is Chaos MAX
It’s magic cylinder
John Santos
rescue cat
That was really interesting.
I hope to see more of those discussions.
So I guess rival ace monsters would be cool to see even though for some such as GX and arc V, its hard to tell what is really their ace.
I just assumed for Chazz it’s Ojama King since it has 3000 in its stat line and hell even Duel Links considers it his ace card.
"outgrown the anime"
Someone needs to stop watching solely the English versions.
I don't really think you can outgrow the ironic masterpiece that is Yu-gi-oh! GX's english dub and theme song.
while i love the yugioh anime to death even as an adult, you cant deny that even the jp version is outrageous and goofy and over-the-top. is it savage as hell and shockingly violent sometimes? sure, but even considering that, it's still very much an adolescent kind of show that i cant blame anyone for outgrowing.
this isnt a dig at the anime! i love how over-the-top it is.
@@yilvoxe4017 I would agree, unless we are talking about Dawn of the Duel and 5DS. Both of those just seem to drop any childfriendly Yugioh is known for, lol.
I don’t know how Kaiba is beaten by Yugi’s deck. That thing is unplayable unless you have the suitability of the script in the real life.
Pretty much. His proper anime deck Is hard to play unless you remove some archetypes.
Yugi has control over what cards he draws.
People don't remember that yugi has a lot of really broken spell cards also.
Dragon capture jar was pretty legit back in 2002
@@leonardoandrecorrea9721
Such as?
What I learned
Duel monsters - Nostalgic, but not very good when you take a deeper look.
GX - The protagonist people like to shit on, from the series people like to shit on, gets a card people like to shit on. it's honestly kind of poetic.
5Ds - The best series (fight me) gets the best monster.
Zexal - It's kinda there...no one really cares about it...
I didn't watch the other series so I'll won't comment on them
I did start arcV and it is pretty cool so far.
That picture with pro and antagonists whose that last one holding odd-eyes pendulum dragon? That can't be yuya, cause he isn't holding an action card
Then Atem/Yugi should be holding a blank card named "Plot Armor" because that is his ace, NOT Dark Magician.
Worst to best protagonist ace monsters in competitive play:
6th Elemental HERO Neos
5th Dark Magician
4th Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon
3rd Number 39: Utopia
2nd Stardust Dragon
1st Firewall Dragon
Firewall Banned so Stardust #1
Anayos i mean we’re clearly not talking about base ace monsters when support cards are being talked about in the video
But Neos wasn't Jaden's first ace card. He didn't start with it.
His original ace card might be something like Flame Wingman, because that was that "saved the day" the most.
In the last episode of GX jaden even said that neos was the symbol of his deck
@@cruz5531 Yes, in the later episodes, Neos was his ace card. But in the first half of the series, he didn't have him yet.
Wait wasn't neos in the deck from the start
@@vali_bg4252 No he wasn't. Neos showed up in the second season, while not showing up at all in the first. And his fluff text reads: "A new Elemental HERO has arrived from Neo Space! His Contact Fusion gives way to his mysterious powers." Key word, 'arrived.'
@@anayos6726 Nice thanks for the info I rewatched the show a few months ago so I dont remember it clearly.
I was actually far more interested in the antagonist cards lol, was hoping both would be in this video. Therefore, I would definitely say yes to a follow-up.
Dragoon4002 Yes. That would be a good video.
Imagine a character whose ace is a spell. Like, a Final Countdown guy, or a moray of Greed guy, or a Chicken Game Guy.
I thought playmakers ace monster was decode talker
Radid Sarker Well considering that all protagonist ace monsters have 2500 atk, it would just make sense that Firewall would fit that criteria
From what I heard Playmaker pretty doesn't even really summon Firewall so really it wouldn't be the ace if he rarely uses it
ImpendingGhost Actually, because he barely uses, it kind of reinforces the fact that it is his ace monster. You should only summon your ace monster when you really need to, not for every little duel you have.
Radid Sarker Decode talker is pretty much Playmakers Summoned skull or Junk warrior, a go to monster but not an "ace" monster.
The thing about that though is that the Talkers have all the support cards.
I'd like a series on competitive viability of character decks. Going through all known cards of like Akiza's plant deck, the effectiveness of the strategy, what cards have come out for the archetype in the pendulum, xyz, and link era. I think it could make for a fun video series could be a challenge for the earlier cast like Tea who didn't duel much
Anybody ever wonder why Starlight Road wasn't considered a counter trap card?
My protagonist ace card would be Voltic Bicorn (my favorite, and also has the usual Stats of the protagonist ace monsters!)
KumaPaws376 your protagonist? What about your antagonist?
ISTHISNAMEEASIERTOSAY??? Greed quasar, because that’s my 2nd favorite card besides ally of justice decisive armor 😘
That's a nice and unique ace monster! Mine had to be Number 39: Utopia, since many of my combos involve him and he there as my ace from the start!
I like the mill effect! It has the potential to deck out your opponent late game.
The first time I ever saw Stardust Dragon in Yu-Gi-Oh: Over the Nexus I knew it was a card that was awesomely powerful and greatly desired it IRL.
Ace monsters in a nutshell
DM:I train underage girls to learn dark magic, I also used to be a person
Neos: I pretend to stand in the back and be cool when I’m actually looking at Aqua dolphin’s ass
SD: I commit suicide on a regular basis
Utopia: don’t speak to me, my son, or my other son ever again
Odd eye: I wear different contacts to make people laugh and hide my depression.
(Fusion, Synchro, Xyz)
VRAINS - Hitting Firewall to 1 was a good call.
Is Firewall really Playmaker's ace if he doesn't summon it every duel?
not just that, all his support cards are for Code Talkers & in over 50 episodes it's only been summoned about 3 times & there's no personal connection to the MC at all such as Stardust had, I don't consider it his Ace atm
I just assumed they stopped showing Firewall becouse it is limited (and close to getting banned). So they cant realy advertise and sell more copies/upgrades.
KKKKKKK777js kids dont care about the banlist lmao
But Konami who funds the anime and makes the card game does.
From what I see, Vrains doesn't really promote 1 ace monster like usual. For example, Revolver has multiple Topologic and Borrel monsters as his ace.
I can agree with the "Number 39: Utopia", there isn't anything crazy about him but i think we will always see him somewhere in the background but never gone. He's just "good ole' reliable".
Kaiba/Yugi/GX: Normal Monsters
everyone afterwards: monsters with 200000 effects
Ah yes, my favourite character. GX
*has traumatic flashbacks to Legacy of the Duelist's story mode using the story decks and not being able to draw Neo Space*
Flightness Snowbirb *and drawing only tuners as yusei*
This is why I only play my Dark Magician deck my friend helped me build. I win every single time
I always liked running a dark magician deck based around that one upgraded dark magician and dark magician girl. That was my playground go-to lol.
But Dzeef never mentioned the best Firewall combo: First turn Firewall into pass.
My ranking:
7.dark magican
6.odd- eyes pendulum dragon
5.startust dragon
4.firewall dragon
3.elemetal hero Neos
2.sevens road magican
1.Number 39:Utopia
It's usually split between how good they were at the time of release and how much better they got with later support.
Themes like Cyber Dragons, Galaxy-Eyes, and Blackwings got some good stuff. BEWD came back huge.
I love to do a certain thing with Utopia in my Dinosaur deck.
I play Utopia double. So i summon it, use its effect to get an Utopia with 5000 ATK and double or nothing. I negate Utopias own attack and use double or nothing for a juicy 10.000 ATK attack.
It's fun and can lead to some funny OTKs
Why are they all 2500 ATK and 2000 DEF?
Excluding the link ofc
Because Yugi's was so they all have to be similar. Same reason Kaiba, Jack, and Revolver's monsters all have 3000 ATK. For Nostalgia and clarity's purpose.
Dark Magician is 2100 DEF FYI
Haruhiro Grimgar the exception being Chazz who’s ace was Ojama King with 3000 Def
Inti1415 light and darkness dragin
Naruto Uzumaki yes in the manga thats his signature card but in the anime I still consider Ojama King his ace especially since Duel Links considers it his ace card as well.
Eternal Soul, Dark Magical Circle, Dark Magician the Dragon Knight, Dark Magician (From Eternal Soul) and Secret Village of the Spellcasters. That combo has a fairly decent softlock, especially since all cards listed are searchable minus the Dragon Knight.
Just a "little bit" of gx? UNSUBBED

Even though this comment doesn't disprove your stuff on your utopia statements, like "utopia is just a stepping stone", I find it surprising you didn't mention the meta playability that rank up magic argent chaos force had with it in order to make number s0: Utopic ZEXAL. The card saw alot of game experimentation recently (until argent got banned), and it certainly had more use than lightning at ZEXAL locking your opponent
it's experimentation was due to how consistently you could get to it. utopia was still the stepping stone used to achieve the strategies end goals.
Utopic butt-zexal
Two theoretical spell cards that might make Dark Magicians slightly better:
False Grave: Move a Dark Magician from your GY to your hand and move a Dark Magician Girl from your deck to your hand.
Stardust is my favorite, followed by odd eyes
Utopia is mine
Neos all the way
Stardust, fire wall, and Utopia are my favorites.
To everyone saying Flame Wingman is Judai’s Ace, that’s like saying Junk Warrior is Yusei’s Ace.
It WAS his ace until he got Neos same as junk warrior was Yusei’s until he he got stardust dragon
I'd love to you to talk about those monster, but kaiba, manjome, etcetera are not really antagonist as much as they are rivals, the real antagonist are other people in those animes
NyanForFun I'd love him to talk about Don Thousand and his literal plot armor of a deck 😂
They are antagonists, but opposing ones. They may not be evil, but they oppose the protagonists and force them to develop.
Just looking to start a thread for people to share if they had an ace monster and why
Mine was Star Eater.
Junk Warrior is my boi
As well as the antagonists like kaiba, chazz, and jack I think it would be cool to look at some of the real villians of some of the villians like Marik, Aster Phoenix, and Earth Bound Immortals. Not sure if you have already but i would like to see a review of some of the GX era structure decks like the zombie madness structure deck and dragon's roar. I think that while the zombie cards in zombie madness were not great it is important to point out how great some of the commons were.
Has anyone notices that all the ace monster have 2500 atk and around 2000 def (give or take 100)?
Firewall dragon is not an ace code talker is.
Majestic Gothitelle jadens is FWman and yuseis is junk warrior aswell
Review the rivals ace monsters like blue eyes and galaxy eyes
Neos is also my favorite protagonist ace monster. Id say my personal ace monster would be madolche tiaramisu
"I've outgrown the anime"

I wish Dark Magicians were better.
Maybe you aren't running them right.
they are usually run into the ground.
I’ve wanted them to be good since I was 5. 15 years later and countless dollars. I still can’t be competitive with it. Just too slow and too weak
I have to argue. I run Dark Magician Deck and have not lost to a Blue eyes yet
Not to say i havent lost. I have just not to blue eyes or red eyes. Ever. Its flawed though cuz most of the support cards stop at XYZ at least thats all ive found, but if you run it right Dark Magician is a killer
The real question is...
Which is better?
Quintet Magician or Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon
Neos is bad to the point that even in duel links he is super iffy
Pranav Sriram even then he would be tied 2 at best cuz fur hires
Gavin O' Connor doubt it, all his support+ contact out is free= pretty good
B3A5T IRL we were saying with all his support
Gavin O' Connor yes, i know. I said that if we had all of his support, that combine with contact out already being a free card would make him decent. Reread my comment.
Hes worse than iffy. The closest thing he is to played is in blazeman engine
Dark Magician: purple magician
Neos: alien super hero
StarDust: shining dragon
Utopia: angel kinght
Odd-eyes: circus dragon
FireWall: internet dragon
In before all the seething DM players.
(DM player here) if DM players really want to seem credible, then they should stop being so angry at people who don't like the deck. With me, I just explain why I think it's a good deck but others just go off and get so angry.
Hey you guys don’t want to play DM that’s cool. DM is my ace and i love it, so I’ll always continue to update my deck.
Batteryman Deck Update
I came here for Dark Magician and you’re 100% right it’s easily a good rouge deck for fun casual play but most times you will not dance well with the meta. However the new support is pretty good and genuinely a fun deck, which isn’t bad because, not all decks need to be a top meta deck to have a good game with.
Y’all forgetting the literal dozen alternate kuribohs
RIP Normal Monsters....Really miss seeing flavor text on cards nowadays. I wish Konami would change Effect Monster cards to still show some flavor text somewhere.
Casual = good, Pro/Competitive = Bad, my opinion
Why?

Rainbow Neos Turbo is pretty damned fabulous though.
I'd love to see one about the Rivals ace monsters tho this brings up the question. What is Chazz's true ace monster? Armed Dragon Lv 10? VWXYZ Dragon Catapult Cannon? Ojama King? Only a mystery.

Neos actually wasn't the original GX signature card, it used to be flame-wingman
Neos does actually have a ton of support. Maybe he's not great but I think he's better than dark magician. He has a ton of support and is used in many useful fusions. This is coming from a casual player who uses a deck with neos in.
I had a Ghost Rare Stardust Dragon as a kid, best looking card I ever saw, I only found out how valuable it was recently and couldn't find it.
Even my mom knew who Blue Eyes White Dragon was. Hands down the number 1 best known card of all time.
