Have been a long time fan of Ping Zhu. Her brushwork is powerful, and I love seeing her different approaches to work. She captured the mood of Tampopo beautifully, one of my favorite films!
Wow, I already loved Ping Zhu but I had no idea she made that cover. Tampopo's gorgeous Criterion box was honestly what drew me to the film in the first place
i love it when people do things with their hands and try to create something that feels real and lively. computers could do that but it doesn't have the same impact when it's done by hand.
@@10418 Have you done artwork with a computer? A brush stroke is a brush stroke and doing digital art is just as trying and complicated as traditional art. When I first started doing digital art I had to learn how to draw all over again. A line with a computer can be so many different things. It's not always a clean cut "this is a line". Not only that but there are so many artists out there making digital art, putting their own spin on things. It's fine if you don't like digital art, but passing it off as less than traditional art is ignorant.
I watched "Tampopo" here at the Palm Springs International Film Festival 2 years ago and when the Criterion edition came was another gifted for me. But now getting to know the artist behind it's cover just added even more value. Love it!
I wish her work was featured in Criterion Designs. Beautiful and ingenious Tampopo cover design. Hopefully, Criterion will use her paper cutout designs for a film cover.
If you're not into the illustration world, where would you see this woman's work? These studio visit videos starting popping up in my feed. I've never heard of her before, or recognize any of the works they showed during the video. What is her most famous work?
Playing alone for one year then play with a lot of people for one year then playing alone for one year then oh wow WowWee Poway. Think about it big braids or small braids oh, it's up to you.
these Studio Visit videos seem like the dimming down of society....I have seen no talent...it seems as if they are saying any child can smear crayons around on paper and its art
I like this woman , the way she laughs while talking about her work and the process of making her art
And I also love tampopo's poster
I like the studio visits.
I wonder if they'll ever visit mine ? :D :D :D

Nah, computers can too
Weird Guy a line with a real brush is full of infinite and different strokes, a line with a computer is always the same pattern.

Lovley (-;
i showed this to my mom and she allowed me to pursue a career in art
What does she paint in... “guash”?
Gouache. It's a type of opaque watercolor.
niiice
Ping Zhu looks like Olivia Wilde if she was Asian
Omg! Ping even sounds similar to Olivia.
MY NIGGA

Nice art. But I was distracted by the amount of times that she said 'like'.
I wanna be her friend
BOOOOBSSS
Why
No blue peacock please
What are those gold scissors?
Grantwood they are by HAY ❤️
drink everytime she says "like" and you gonna go full "leaving las vegas"
At least 44 unnecessary «like» in less than 7 minutes.
Remember nose-rings? What were we thinking?
She's like a female version of joji
Knives is that you?
这脸真够平的
solid wifey material, beautiful and talented.
but i don't like that film
Boring

One heck of a talented lady but that accent is super duper *annoying*.
