    Hunter, Take this opportunity to try something completely random.Fix the iabs in place using a couple tie wraps but this time try them HALF way between open and closed. 🤣 Would be super interested to see what would happen if anything. Wonder what the potentially turbulent air would do at high rpm? Would gladly paypal you a couple of beers or something for the results.

    I have a friend with a 94 EX coupe which I swapped a JDM B18C GSR motor and since in California I Referee'd the car with a stock USDM P72 ECU but had my friends stock P28 modified back in the day from Vernon at Raver Motorsports and he put a GSR map with IAB control so the P28 acts like a stock p72 ecu just no knock sensor and it works great to this day. Passes smog testing and makes good power. Running the motor stock with just a Velocity Stack/K&N and stock JDM exhaust manifold to a RSR exhaust. If I remember we dyno'ed it with stock EG airbox and the motor made 150 whp and swapped the Stack/K&N filter and picked up 7 whp making 157 whp.

    Making more power on the low-mid range with the iab arm zip tied actually makes sense. Reason being, you were actually holding the iab plate shut when you were doing that. It is spring loaded to be open, it's closed by the solenoid. The ECU sends a signal to the IAB solenoid which uses vacuum to hold the butterfly plates closed until 4900 rpm when it turns the solenoid off, letting the plates open up.
    I have the vacuum line to iab disconnected on my h22 since I'm running a p28, plates/flaps inside manifold are always open

      If youve got the iabs you might aswel use them for a nice little bump in torque and a tiny fuel economy gain, do you not have programmable output in your software? I controlled my iabs via the purge solenoid valve output on my p28 (using neptune) no mods to the p28 were required.

    I never like the thought of that style of header making good power. Cant wait to see the difference with a proper header and intake manifold with a bigger throttle body on same tune up. Obviously will need a little tweaking in the tune afr wise with more air comming in. Cant wait to see updates on The Budget Hatch series!

    You should try it with a OBD1 P72 ecu to see if it makes any difference. Since the P28 doesn’t have the IAB’s.

    I believe the iab are closed with vacuum. just unhook the vacuum line and they should be open when its running.

    All motor?
    Type R manifold, good header, cam gears, 2.5 exhaust.
    Cam n springs if in your budget
    All motor really needs headwork and compression.
    Otherwise I'd say do a simple turbo kit.
    Not sure what your goals are

    With the iabs ziptied up you found a gain down low but zero difference up top. Could that not suggest that the iab output in the actual tune is flipped?? Putting them in low rpm mode like you did with the ziptie should have resulted in a hp loss up high, but you saw little variation.. Try another run with the vacuum hose disconnected and no cable tie?

    Good thing I stumbled upon your video because I have the USDM stock B18C1 and is looking to make a more power and reliable. What are your thoughts on the skunk2 intake manifold on a stock motor? I do plan on adding the carb legal skunk 2 tuner cam, value train and springs in the future.

    @huntertuned there are multiple JDM gsr engines I forget the exact model but there was a 158hp b18c I think that's the one u have

    I was worried running my skunk2 IM on my GSR in prep for turbo would be bad for NA power... Maybe not!

    Sick Ride. In the last year I helped my brother in law build his Son a 96 Civic coupe for him turning 16. We did fresh b20z rebuild Stage 2 cams, cheap springs and retainers, ebay intake and header. 2.5 exhaust catless We made a best of 162 whp @6600 but it still held 150whp at 7500. Sounds weak but its strong to 7500 and first run the 96 civic ran a 14.2 @103 mph. Gsr has so much potential. I would of chose a gsr/si swap over b20z but Engine prices are insane now. New subscriber awesome channel

    Man i am waiting on this i have a 99 civic with jdm b18c but it has same vac controlled butterfly intake but mine is putting around 180 hp and it has a p72 if i saw correctly but could be wrong thank its a stock eccu but i do minstry work in this vehicle people still love this car today even more when they know about that famous engine you can see in alot of my video s people driving around it waving flooring it past me in there trucks to instagate racing lol i love hondas

    My gsr mafe 150 tuned made 175 with an edlebrook intake manifold 70 mk yhrottle body and decent header im just finnishing up my 12.7:1 b20 vtec cnc ported head pro 2 cams got all new bolt on 3 inch header ported untra street with 1 litter spacer 74 mm throttle body well see what it makes dyno colikg soon !

    The VTEC is not turning on i used to hook up the valet button from an after market alarm and hook it up to the VTEC solenoid to get the VTEC to work I would just push and hold the button when VTEC was supposed to be engaging.

    Bro mine is also the same! Fully stock. Only makes 153 tuned. Just left the vacuum line off on the 2dary butterfly. But i have a 4 to 1 header (don’t know if it’s better to have a 4-2-1 header)???
    Install the header and dyno it to see difference.
    Then install intake manifold to see the full result!!! Then you got 2 videos!!!

    -B18a1 block
    -Arp rodbolts for the stock ls rods
    -Gsr Arp headstuds
    -Gsr Water-pump/timing belt kit
    -high pressure ls oilpump
    -high comp std type r pistons
    -Ebay Lsv Kit
    -Skunk2 pro-series intake
    -1997 Itr head(came with some skunk2 cams/gears(dont know which)
    Im super stoked,this is my first build to make a nonvtec motor a vtec 😊would you happen to know what kinda gains ill be seeing?

    That header doesnt come on till 7500 on a gsr and the manifold dies at 7500

    150-160whp sounds about right i mean the jdm gsr b18c is rated at 180hp vs the usdm gsr 170hp because they use higher octane gas in japan.
