regardless, we get that only 1 electron has been shifted around so it doesn't really matter. also, since it is just one electrode, you can't say if its reducing or oxidizing, because is relative to each other. hopefully it helps, glhf, all the best.

@@purvasinghal8979 yes bhai. so by using formula and solving you end up with -18. and the formula takes care of the sign (oxidation and reduction as well) so what it ends up with is what you get. if it doesnt help i am sorry i am not that good at explaining. especially chemistry.

Actually me hydrogen electrode diya rehta hai to uska reduction potential zero mante hai experimental data . Aur ye half cell hai . Jab hydrogen electrode ko kisi aur electrode se club krte hai tab fir jo cell banta hai uske net emf nikalte hai . Lekin hydrogen electrode ya cell ka standard potential zero lete hai .

@@mrmrsRacemic ok so the point is that whenever we use hydrogen electrode in any cell with any other electrode the standard electrode potential of hydrogen electrode is considered as zero. In case of standard hydrogen electrode it's emf is considered zero . But remember standard potential is zero not potential. In case of overall net potential then we have to calculate using the nernst equation if any other half cell or electrode is not given .

@mrmrsRacemic well it can do both , depending on the construction and whatever you did , it's standard potential is always considered as zero
