These are all good ideas. My father passed away from cancer 20 years ago at the age of 59. It was really hard for the whole family. My mom and dad had been married 42 years. My dad had 2 feather pillows he slept with. My mom started using his pillows. A feather would come out every once in a while. My mom started putting the feathers in a clear Christmas ornament. Through the years she has given a family member a ornament with the feathers. She wrote on the ornament wings from heaven. It has been a sweet and fun memory.
I have been making my kids & grandkids new ornaments every year . When my children finally settled into their own homes I gave them all their ornaments. At that time they were in their mid 20's ,now 52 & 48. Their trees are very full !
Great ideas. My family's favorite Christmas tradition is candy making for gifts. We make filled candies, fudge, chocolate covered cherries, etc. The candies make wonderful gifts and the recipients seem to enjoy them.
My kids got an ornament every year that represented a milestone (e.g. a ballerina when taking ballet class). The year my youngest was born, Hallmark started a series of angels, so she got one of those for 25 years. When the kids got married, their ornaments went with them.
Going on 19 with my oldest. Great memories to look back on. We have milestones or something favorite from each year, homemade ones, and even pics … we get a ton of compliments on ours…our tree certainly tells our story ❤❤😊😊
We give each of our children an ornament every year so that when they leave home, they have enough for their own tree. We had a special tree upstairs for Momma to put her ornaments and a fun kids tree that the kids would decorate with theirs. Each ornament had to do with the previous year, ie when they got their drivers license we got a car ornament, or one of them loved soft serve ice cream from a specific place so the ornament was a soft serve ice cream cone. We’d reminisce each year and giggle while we enjoyed hot cocoa and decorating.🎄
Shannon those ornaments are so pretty. Such great ideas. You could decorate your entire tree with homemade ornaments. Thank you so much. Have a blessed week. 🎄🎄🎄
My new husband I started a new tradition. We bought an ornament at each place we go on vacation or at special places, it makes for a fun family tree and reminds us of special memories!
Hi Shannon… I watch all of your craft buddies… Whitney and Courtney and Jamie… But I have to admit that of all of them, as creative, and as talented as they are, you are my favorite. I love your explanations, and I love listening to your voice, you speak so clearly and concisely and make everything seem so doable.
Hi Shannon, all of these are so awesome! I have made so many ornaments that it would be too many to mention. I have done trees that had about 95% handmade ornaments on them. Last year I did little houses. So fun!
Loved these ideas, Shannon and will definitely be recreating some myself this year! The personalized ones you made your girls inspired me to make some for my daughter as well! ❤
These are all beautiful ideas Shannon. I love them all. I can’t pick a favourite cos they are all gorgeous. The ones you did for your daughters are very sweet as would be the one you do for your son. I have a lot of those small transfers that I got last year but never used them cos I was sick from December to February. I have plenty of stuff for this year now and I think I’m going to put some on those round ornaments like you did cos that little tree looks perfect on one of them. Thanks for all the inspiration that I always get from your videos. TFS.
They’re all lovely ideas Shannon! We always bought our children a new ornament each year and have collected many from friends’ travels around the world, so our tree is quite eclectic and full of memories. You could do with a lazy Susan for some of your diys. Kind regards and thanks for the inspiration, from Penny in Liverpool 🇬🇧😊💕🎄
pretty much all of them I want to do. LOL was in a tornado.. March 31 2023.. and still working on replace some Christmas things. so thanks and especially loved the cupcakes ones..
Every year my husband and I get a couple ornament. It's sometimes a cute representation of a couple. We've gotten picture frame ornaments for wedding anniversary photos. We have also picked one that represented somewhere we went out something we did. I've crafted a couple myself. It just depends on the year. We actually have to hang then on their own small tree now because there are so many!
I am excited to start crafting my own Christmas ornaments this year and will upload some videos on my channel fingers crossed. Thank you for the ideas, Shannon I specifically adore the hot cocoa I wonder what the substitute for the spackling would be?
These are cute! I just made cupcake ornaments using a foam ball in a cupcake paper, used the spackle as icing with the bag/tip & added my sprinkles like yours. They turned out really cute.
You have given me so much inspiration in this video. I would like to make some of these ornaments with my grandchildren. Our family tradition is gifting an item that we each collected. My youngest collection is nutcracker, my oldest are gnomes and I collected gingerbread items.
I made my 2 brothers and myself ornaments for both our mom and our dad. I used white feathers with silver angles on my mom's them, I couldn't find any blue feathers for my dad so I took some blue eyeshadow, which I don't wear, and put the feathers in the shadow in a plastic bag. Everyday for about a month I would give the bag a good smashing and by the time I needed to make the ornaments they were dyed blue. Then I used a silver angel with a blue green stone. They both about cried each time. We but an ornament for our selves each year then instead of bows on gifts that I'm giving, I use an ornament. I figure when all of my grandkids move out and have their own 1st Christmas they will at least have some ornaments.
All are beautiful. I love the red yarn the best. I plan on trying some of these different ornaments. Maybe for my grand kids. They can have something special to keep forever Thanks for all the great ideas. Have a blessed week.
Every year, my mom gave my daughter a nutcracker for Christmas. She passed away in the 90s but I continued the tradition. My daughter is 44 yrs. now and stiil looks forward to the new nutcracker!
On the last day of school before Christmas break, my daughter would have her friends over to make Christmas crafts. This continued from Grade 3 right through college. Nancy
The idea of getting the clear ornaments and putting paint inside of that we did that at work one year. We wanted to get donations for the food bank so my boss went out and bought boxes of not the iridescent but just the clear ornaments the round ones, and then the ones that are round, but there more flat maybe I’m not explaining that very well. Anyway, we’d use three different colors of paint and shake it and wow where there’s some awesome ornaments. I think I did three myself. For traditions when my daughter was little I’d get an ornament for her, but I don’t anymore, let me clarify on occasion if I see one I think she’ll like I will. But my grandson’s the oldest one when he was born I bought him a Santa ornament every year and when the youngest one came along he gets a snowman ornament every year. they have quite a few because they are 20 and 17 now. There was one year that we didn’t because they wanted dinosaurs. Rion got the stegosaurus and Luke chose the T-Rex. I did buy little Santa hats and put those on them. They are my joys!
I love the red velvet yarn and the rub on transfer ornaments. ❤ Question- How do you change the color glue sticks out of your glue gun? Or do you have to have a different glue gun for each color?
You are very creative and lots of good ideas. For the rub on transfers can you seal it and what would you use to seal it. Also where did you get your glue gun from. Thank you for the cool crafting ideas.
If the mugs are decorative, yes. If you need to wash them, probably not. They may rub back off. But worth a try on a DT mug maybe, to see. I'm going to do a rub on video on the Cozy Christmas Cottage UA-cam channel so maybe I'll give it a test try
So many creative Christmas ornaments. My favorites: the clear ornament with the 2 trees; the rub-on; the personalized; the velvet type yarn; the initial and then the snowflake. 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
Hi Shannon, a couple of weeks ago you posted a video of letters that can be printed out on card stock. I think one of the sets of letters spelled out "NOEL." What was the thread that you were using to hang them up? Thank you.

The painted iridescent ornaments are stunning! 😍

The iridescent ornaments with the pastel paints inside are beautiful! Pink is my favorite color! 🎉❤😊

Love all of these ! Question is the inside of the orniment food safe? I love the idea so festive.
You may want to use glass ornaments if you are worried about the plastic if using with food/beverages
I love the red velvet yarn and the rub on transfer ornaments. ❤ Question- How do you change the color glue sticks out of your glue gun? Or do you have to have a different glue gun for each color?
They are all adorable! 💕

Hello! Wishing you a beautiful day too!
I live in NJ and my Dollar Tree has balls with a screw bottom to make snow globe ornaments. No melting the plastic lol
Cute ornaments 🎉🎉🎉
Shannon, can the rub-on stickers be used on mugs? That would be cute if they could. A nice Christmas gift for someone.
If the mugs are decorative, yes. If you need to wash them, probably not. They may rub back off. But worth a try on a DT mug maybe, to see. I'm going to do a rub on video on the Cozy Christmas Cottage UA-cam channel so maybe I'll give it a test try
@@TheDailyDIYer Nice! I love your cozy Christmas cottage channel. That does make sense, it may rub off when washed. Thx so much 🎅🏾🎄🤗
