    LESSON 2 EXERCISE:
    Exercise #2: Use your thumbnail and notan from Exercise #1 as reference to create a study that explores using value and optical color to create the illusion of light. Either use the photo provided in Lesson 1 or pick one of your own. Be sure that the subject is fairly simple so that you don't get caught up in non-color issues.
    Materials needed:
    Fanchon red (napthol red)
    Carl's Crimson (crimson)
    Thalo Blue
    Ultramarine Blue
    White
    Gessoed paper, ampersand panel, or primed canvas cut to size
    Palette knives or brushes
    Palette
