This was a definite proud moment. Seriously, after so many years, he was finally able to do not one but SEVERAL full takeovers! I think people have completely forgotten that he could only transform his arm. I was crying the first time I watched this fight!
I'm happy for my man Elfman, this battle was arguably one of the first moments in the show where he ever shined. But what I really wanted was just one small change to this fight. At the end where Bacchus is worn out from giving Elfman a thrashing, I wanted Elfman to give him a severe uppercut that knocked him flat on his ass. Thats it.
That WOULD make more sense. No one would pass out from their arms getting bruised and battered. He should have taken the victory pose, then his arms flop to his sides in pain, and Elfman socks him.

I totally loved this fight, both in manga, and anime. I was pretty much a turning point for Fairy Tail in Dai Matou Enbu, also probably Elfman's finest moment - despite being horribly disadvantaged, he managed to figure out an effective strategy (even if it was a fit of desperation), showing that there was still a brain left in this giant meatbag.
I do love that Elfman is the one who starts Fairy Tail's turn around, from bottom of the barrel under dogs back to number 1. And he does it through a mix of quick thinking and force of will. "I can't land a hit on him? Fine, I'll use my best defensive form and let him beat on me while he hurts himself. Toughest man wins."

Not really in earlier episodes Erza stated the bacchus and her never had a clear winner so he is at least comparable to Erza so Mirajane not to sure possibly lose fight rather than a one side match.
This was easily the best fight in a long time for this series. No nakama power BS just an all out battle of tactics and technique. I might still be reading the manga had they done more fights like this.

wrong. As a druid player myself, this is not wildshaping. Wildshaping is a complete change into an animal/beast. Elfman is more along the lines of a lycanthrop. Also, his takeovers are more along the lines of monstrosities, which we druids can't wildshape into.
Ok, stupid was probably the wrong word. As I said he more looks at it as a test of manliness. And why shouldn't he? This tournament isn't a matter of life and death, given his character his actions make perfect sense. As for the ins and outs of alcohol, now we're looking to far into it. If you apply that real world context criticism to any entertainment you'll find a million problems. What matters is if it sounds feasible even with poetic license.
It was so wonderful that Elfman broke first what was a series of humiliation. He could have lost, he wasn't supposed to be a match for a S rank, failure was forgivable. But he won... He freaking WON!
I watched fairytail when i was 16 years old. And when bachhus said "if i win both your sisters are mind and i can do whatever i want with them" i immediately yelled "no..mira only belongs to me". I didnt even like her that much. I liked erza more. Its a cringe memory for me. But i admit i still consider mira as my bae from fairytail. No one else. Only her. And imagine my hype level when right after this battle mira shows her demon sitri form. God damn...i forgot erza existed after that sitri moment. I was head over heels for mira.
Frankly, I think Bacchus purposely lost, because he respects Elfman he didn't want to inflict a token on him More than a fight of strength, it was a fight of determination
He didn't so much as "win" as "not lose", which is sometimes the best strategy. Elfman knew he couldn't win in a fight against him, so decided that for that situation that the best offense is a good defense.
I have to admit, in the Manga this fight indeed had a more epic feel to it. But I was nonetheless pleased with this fight, because of the mood given by the music and the voice actor of Bacchus, which does his personality a lot of justice.
Elfman missed a perfect opportunity to REALLY mess with Bacchus for his lecherous nature. My bet would have been 2 conditions, 1 for each girl. 1. Bacchus must destroy every ounce of alcohol in his possession. Not drink, destroy. 2. Bacchus must go without a drop of alcohol for one year.
To everyone wondering how Elfman won when he only damaged Bacchu's hands, Bacchus propells his hands with magic. And he's drunk, meaning he's using a lot of magic. He probably exhausted him while damaging his hands, which are his only magical weapons
Everyone could see that while elfman was down most of the match he was still able to get up versus at the end when bacchus fell back he more than likely passed out so the ref called it when an unconscious bacchus hit the ground

@@_shanqz6505 A few things. 1. I said most, not all 2. One Punch Man and Blade Works are centered around getting your interest in the fight scenes. Even One Punch Man uses "slideshows" occasionally when heavy animation isn't needed. Fairy Tail is more about the journey than who the next fight is going to be with. 3. Naruto was a lot more popular than Fairy Tail ever was so they had a bigger budget.
The Scotsman fairy tail was one of the biggest anime of it’s time, so they do have a big budget. Budget shouldn’t be an excuse also? If u look at the small anime’s like Dororo 2019 or even isekai maou to shoukan. Their fight scenes are way more detailed then fairytails. And I know all animes use slide shows, but a lot of them don’t use it for fight scenes. Fairy tail hadn’t really adapted to people’s expectations also. The strongest of quatro cerberus is overpowered by Elfman, Ichiya, and Sting... who are not the strongest of their guilds. Is this an implication that Quatro Cerberus is really that weak?! I choose not to but evidences seem to prove that. I think Bacchus is one heck of a monster in his own right, probably at the levels of Erza, Minerva, and Kagura. However, he's completely underrated and overlooked by Hiro

While in overall Fairy Tail's story and conclusion was pretty dang trash, there were some things i enjoyed. Elfman's lizardman was one of those things, I thought he looked pretty cool.. and wish we could have seen more of him in this form.

It was so wonderful that Elfman broke first what was a series of humiliation.
He could have lost, he wasn't supposed to be a match for a S rank, failure was forgivable.
But he won... He freaking WON!

The art style for these 25 episodes until it went on haitus for a year honestly has to be the best this series had...
I watched fairytail when i was 16 years old. And when bachhus said "if i win both your sisters are mind and i can do whatever i want with them" i immediately yelled "no..mira only belongs to me". I didnt even like her that much. I liked erza more.
Its a cringe memory for me. But i admit i still consider mira as my bae from fairytail. No one else. Only her.
And imagine my hype level when right after this battle mira shows her demon sitri form. God damn...i forgot erza existed after that sitri moment. I was head over heels for mira.
Frankly, I think Bacchus purposely lost, because he respects Elfman he didn't want to inflict a token on him

He didn't so much as "win" as "not lose", which is sometimes the best strategy. Elfman knew he couldn't win in a fight against him, so decided that for that situation that the best offense is a good defense.
When I read this chapter I was like amazed at Elfman's manliness.

I have to admit, in the Manga this fight indeed had a more epic feel to it. But I was nonetheless pleased with this fight, because of the mood given by the music and the voice actor of Bacchus, which does his personality a lot of justice.
Elfman missed a perfect opportunity to REALLY mess with Bacchus for his lecherous nature. My bet would have been 2 conditions, 1 for each girl.
1. Bacchus must destroy every ounce of alcohol in his possession. Not drink, destroy.
2. Bacchus must go without a drop of alcohol for one year.
To everyone wondering how Elfman won when he only damaged Bacchu's hands, Bacchus propells his hands with magic. And he's drunk, meaning he's using a lot of magic. He probably exhausted him while damaging his hands, which are his only magical weapons

Hero stays down for most of the match? Refs say nothing, bad guy goes down for a second? Refs are already holding the heros hand up in triumph.
Everyone could see that while elfman was down most of the match he was still able to get up versus at the end when bacchus fell back he more than likely passed out so the ref called it when an unconscious bacchus hit the ground
It's is due to fights like this, the critique I have is for other FT members get more scenes, rather than just being side characters.

Kinda sad, but I realized that most fights In fairy tail are just slideshows that have the objects move a little...It’s weird because it use to be my favorite anime.

A few things.
1. I said most, not all
2. One Punch Man and Blade Works are centered around getting your interest in the fight scenes. Even One Punch Man uses "slideshows" occasionally when heavy animation isn't needed. Fairy Tail is more about the journey than who the next fight is going to be with.
3. Naruto was a lot more popular than Fairy Tail ever was so they had a bigger budget.
The Scotsman fairy tail was one of the biggest anime of it’s time, so they do have a big budget. Budget shouldn’t be an excuse also? If u look at the small anime’s like Dororo 2019 or even isekai maou to shoukan. Their fight scenes are way more detailed then fairytails. And I know all animes use slide shows, but a lot of them don’t use it for fight scenes. Fairy tail hadn’t really adapted to people’s expectations also. Why do u think a lot of the fans fell off, including myself.

There is no "big three" in Japan, the "big three" was a term created because how popular in the West. In Japan however the big ones were Naruto and One Piece, while Bleach and Fairy Tail found a moderate following, it was no where near as popular as the formally mentioned and definitely not as popular in Japan as it was in the West.

Keep in mind that Bacchus is a Mage who fights on a caliber to that of Erza. Elfman only won threw strategy which was genius!!!! I love this fight!!!

The strongest of quatro cerberus is overpowered by Elfman, Ichiya, and Sting... who are not the strongest of their guilds. Is this an implication that Quatro Cerberus is really that weak?! I choose not to but evidences seem to prove that. I think Bacchus is one heck of a monster in his own right, probably at the levels of Erza, Minerva, and Kagura. However, he's completely underrated and overlooked by Hiro

While in overall Fairy Tail's story and conclusion was pretty dang trash, there were some things i enjoyed. Elfman's lizardman was one of those things, I thought he looked pretty cool.. and wish we could have seen more of him in this form.
I think the same. Mashima as a writer is trash, but as a character designer he's preatty good, you can tell most of the personality of his characters just by looking at them

If he's unable to sustain damage from a non-attacking Elfman, then Mirajane would ruin him in bed. I'm not even sure if he'll survive a round of sex with Lisanna.
