Hi my girlfriend was your server at Marikuya and you gave her cards for my commander deck! I'm building my colorless eldrazi right now and I appreciate you with my whole heart. Much Love and everyone sub to this genuine creator who loves the magic community!
The one deck I could see that would be interested in Twenty-Toed Toad is Nadu. A lot of the play patterns of winning turns in the deck involves you ending up with more than 20 cards in hand, plus a Lightning Greaves to give it haste.
@@cobaltbeau In my experience with Nadu there are a lot of nondeterministic turns that the deck can put together where it can do a lot, but not quite enough to get to drawing the whole deck or getting to infinite mana. In those turns, this will win games where a lot of the other win condition options won't.
Y'all missed the fact you don't need dread return or narcomeba to do the combo with buried alive and dewdrop cure. You bury alive Thassa's, nomad's, and cephalid illusionist. Dewdrop cure giving the gift to return all three from the graveyard to the battlefield. With THassa's ETB on the stack, mill your whole library! Seems a bit better than having to run dread return and narcomeba!
Could even do Cephalid Illusionist, Nomads En-Kor, and Grand abolisher with buried alive. Then dewdrop cure those creatures back and have the thoracle/dread return/narcomoeba combo they mentioned sacing narcomoeba, nomads, and cephalid. Then we have the protection of Abolisher too
@@Tallsonn I see where you're going and it isn't a bad idea. The hard part of the combo is going to be resolving dewdrop cure. After you've done that they can't stop the cephalid nomad combo (save split second) and a thassa's etb is only stopped by stifle which no one runs. The only thing abolisher protects you from primarily is someone making you draw after you mill your whole deck. This can be stopped by stopping 3 cards short since your devotion Is 3, and if they try to kill thassa's or cephalid you just mill the number of cards in response to the kill spell
Hey guys, just want to say I love what you're doing. From the great and snappy editing, to just all of your personalities, this has quickly become one of, if not my favorite UA-cam channels our there Wish I could support on Patreon, but regardless I want you guys to know youre doing a great job!
So happy to see Tyler on the podcast! I managed to avoid 99% of spoilers so I'm making this my first video to watch after doing pre release and not 3 minutes in it was the best choice I could have made.
The reprint of chaos warp in the commander precon shows a raccoon falling into New Capenna through an omenpath. Meaning animals that leave Bloomburrow maintain their animal form but likely scale up to match the plane they go to
Ooh, that's certainly a thought. Also notable that it can get thoracle + abolisher from graveyard at the same time if you have something like demonic consultation/tainted pact in hand already without giving the opponent cards. Granted, that's quite specific but I think reanimating Abolisher might come up more often than people think.
3:45 with gifts: for instants and sorceries, the spell has to resolve for the gift to be given. so if you try to force draw the thoracle player, if they counter this, the gift delivery system (haha) will not trigger. if the spell does resolve, though, the gift trigger is on the stack to resolve first before the effects of the spell itself. 🎉
47:16 the reason why they all seem to add up to 4 total Mana is because the Gruul limited Archetype in Bloomburrow is Expend 4, AKA "Bonuses for spending 4 or more total Mana in a turn."
Love the videos haven’t commented much but one thing to keep in mind is the ability to give cards flash and with 20 tow tow if you can give him flash and play him at the end of the turn to go into an ad nauseam or something that draws you ridiculous amount of cards your next turn I think this card becomes pretty viable and note it is in the colors that give you the ability to have flash more than any other color
Oh yeah, I missed that it's a triggered ability and not static. It'll be great to hose people playing lots of tokens in casual pods but it definitely isn't viable in cedh.
My issue with Into the Flood Maw is that you cannot cast it on your own things... with Chain of Vapor you have that as an option to save some of your stuff. The upside, I suppose, is you cant get Deflecting Swatted onto your own permanents.
As a mono green player I agree entirely with the assessment of Bloodroot Apothecary, it is a very interesting card but I'd rather just have Ouphe. A mono green card that you missed is Season of Gathering. I don't expect it to see play outside of Marwyn/Selvala/Ashaya, but in those decks I think it's a good new card
To Cam’s point about Offspring CMC costs equaling 4 mana-I think this is to also to help fuel the set’s Expend mechanic. Most (if not all) of that effect is Expend 4, which Offspring can help meet. Good stuff, guys!
With that cephalid breakfast combo, you could gift someone a card, reanimate all 3, and w the thoracle trigger on the stack you could mill your entire library no?
Valley floodcaller (without summoning sickness) also comboes with Retraction Helix/Banishing knack and a positive mana rock. That gives you infinite mana.
Feels like Mockingbird is being underrated hard to me. I think this is a Tymna/Kraum card. It's one mana to make a flying Esper Sentinel or Ragavan. It's so good in Tymna decks. Idk, maybe I'm trippin'
4:35 as someone who wants to run Kenrith Food Loops (Samwise, Cauldron Familiar loop), I can see this as another way to get my Protean pile without having to work towards actually getting the Protean.
Lakes are body of non-salt water that have a river (or similar water course) that enters them and one that exits them. Seas are salt water and only have rivers going into them, oceans are the same things but are way bigger in area Then again, I do endorse the idea that my hot tub it's a small sea
I’ve been waiting to hear your thoughts on this set for a while! There are some SPICY multicolor legends in this set! Bummer I have to wait until next week, but you better believe I’ll be tuning in!
Regarding the reason for a lot of Offspring cards adding up to 4, the RG mechanic, Expend, cares about spending 4 or more total mana on casting spells to get extra bonuses.
47:07 All the offspring costs add up to 4 because a key mechanic in BLB also was Expend X, triggering when you spend your Xth mana per turn on casting spells, and 90% of the cards were Expend 4(the exceptions being Expend 8), so they wanted you to easily offspring and trigger your expend cards with your cheap cards
The augur card, the creature breach, gives a finality counter. Which tayum can remove. Yall mentioned tayum but i think its worth talking more about that interaction
Osteo tree breech and Thief of Blood after you flood your board so it removes the counters on the army you bring back? Alter of Dementia to fill your own yard if needed.
I think Twenty-Toed Toad has exactly one deck that it could work as a wincon pretty consistently and that is Nadu. Think about it, Nadu draws you all the cards and gets you all the mana you could need to cast it. The deck also very specifically runs Lightning Greaves as a key component of Nadu's combo potential. So, you run Nadu, hit any of his combo pieces, do his thing, play Twenty Toed Toad and Greaves, swing, attack trigger, win. Thoughts?
I think Season of the Bold could work in mono-red burn decks, especially Toralf. In a deck led by him, you’re running all of the red effects that raise noncombat damage so you get to keep moving the extra damage around the board. It seems kind of like it would be a win more card almost though because you would need to be set up to either cast more spells with more mana already, or you are using some of the 🐾 to make treasures, idk
I’m so hype on Valley Floodcaller. Mainly for Atraxa. I run Final Word Phantom in Atraxa as well as Borne Upon a Wind (like everyone else) because I feel the only path forward for Atraxa is as many flash enablers as possible. Nothing like throwing down a jeweled lotus and Atraxa on someone else’s turn lol
Blue card that didn’t get mentioned but could be good in Yuriko is Dour Port-Mage? 2 mana any creature you control that leaves without dying: you draw a card.
Interesting that you mentioned breakfast combo for non-gift version of Dewdrop, even though with gift its a win. You give card to your non blue player friend and with buried alive getting you all 3 pieces you can straight up reanimate oracle with breakfast and mill yourself with oracle trigger on the stack. No need to wait for dread return.
Can twenty toed toad go in the Curri deck? Whatever the name of that fallout commander mono blue shark thingie 1/3 that draws cards equal to its power. So if you're already trying to draw a ton of cards this could be a win con maybe?
Apparently the denizens of bloomburrow remain the same when they leave, so they will remain regular otter sized and such, all that weve seen of bloomburrow so far takes up a 2 mile lot
Twenty-toed toad will go crazy in inalla because it is a wizard and the copy you make with inalla has haste, making ad nuas in to twenty toed toad a true combo
On Osteomancer Adept: is it worth thinking about this card in the context of Solemnity? Preventing the finality counter from being put on the card means you can repeatedly forage it, especially if it creates a food on etb.
31:09 I’m wondering how viable Keen Duelist is for cEDH since it’s a more durable Bob and you attack life totals with it, but it does give your opponent a card too that you know what it is
One thin you're missing on Season of the Bold would using it in the new Judith, that gives your instant and sorceries life link and death touch. But I don't think Judith sees much cEDH play.
Would the twenty toed toad be a win for nadu? Where they nadu combo til they get this card and 4 mana and 20 other cards then they can play the toad and use the 0 equip gives haste boots and win
Ob Nixilis doesn't want the 1 mana lizard because we don't have a ton of lands in the deck. Storm cards are more valuable than 1-2 times per turn (if fetch land) But crustacean mage is a snap include, it's as good as kessig and firebrand archer and that new amulet from MH3

The twenty toed toad was amazing
I am so here for the Sea vs. Ocean discussion :)
You can really tell they are from a landlocked area 😂 being from Florida those questions have been answered from birth for me lol
That discussion gave me major “Always Sunny” vibes and I loved it. I can definitely see Charlie arguing with Dennis and Mac about this.

Agreed. I think it can actually take the play of Phimage just because of this
Yeah this is really big for farm esc decks
Came here to comment this as well. It's going to replace PhImage in any UW+ list.
It hurt my brain that they didn't say this I was waiting in the waiting 😩
Pollywog Prodigy is pretty amazing in Raffine since you can connive onto it to make it huge faster than in other decks
I'll try it for similar reasons in the ever fringe Simic Ezuri Experience :p
