Your comment helped me understand what to look for in a keyboard. I always thought that Yamaha keyboards were fantastic sounding, until you pointed out the fact that they seem to have effects already added. This has changed my thinking on Yamaha keyboards completely. As you say, the natural sound should come first, THEN add any effects after. I'm just so glad that you pointed this out. I have learned SO much from peoples comments here on youtube. We MUST protect the internet, at all costs.
I am playing on stage for over 20 years I used to buy Yamaha keyboards before but since 12 years I am using korg pa series first pa80 then pa800-pa1x-pa2x and just recently bought my pa3x. its dream machine! i am not saying Yamaha tyros is bad! its great keyboard but not for me. always before i buy anything new i try other companies what they have to offer watching you tube video's can be educational but when you touch the key's yourself is totally different story. the feeling the sound response and even operating the keyboard is all related i found out for me is only korg has it all.
Yamaha Tyros 4 is the winner. Better sound, much more natural and realistic than Korg PA3X. The sound of korg PA3X looks like it comes from the box and the yamaha looks like I'm listening to live. Undoubtedly tyros 4 is the winner. I would love to have a Tyros 4 but it is very expensive.
I'm a big Fan of Korg Products all the way,,buy you can't underestimate the power of that Yamaha Tyros. Both sound good..Tyros sounds a Tab bit Richer in the Acoustic section in my opinion....So if i had to choose between the 2 i would probably get that Tyros...
Now nothing can beat the Tyros 4! This video prooved it again! Yamaha reached the highest level and its not over! Not even yet! Another wide victory for Tyros! Everything on Tyros is a lot more realistic than any Korg, any Roland, and above all, everything its much more reliable! Everything inside can be edited! And my favourite, Tyros isn't limited like Korg only as an arranger: is also an extremely efficient synthesizer with all its parameters. There's nothing you can complain from the inside!
Thanks for your comments. We did not want to make it so long that it got boring to watch but wanted to make sure we got through enough sound and style comparisons to make it fair. Problem is there is so much in both products it is difficult to know what to choose for comparison purposes!
I hear the difference as a musician at the Korg sound and Tyros. I like the Tyros and based on it line Yamaha S-series. Tyros plays cleaner (also Yamaha) and more comprehensive than the Korg. the more they will always be competitors. Classical instruments better at Yamaha, 30 heard synthesizers 25 firms and can not judge the sound quality of all synthesizers, which I had. Now Korg begins to lose its leading position in some respects, and styles they are now almost at the same level.
Excellent comparison; well done and thank you! Each instrument has it's purpose. Personally, I like the Tyros much better. I am not a sound engineer, and the styles and voices sound simply great right out of the box. But the main question is: which instrument is the most fun playing? Look at how many UA-cam video's there are for the Tyros 4 and for the PA3X. The numbers speak for themselves.
Hello guys! I 've played them both for many live performances and I must say that both of them are the best a professional musician can buy. Yamaha Tyros 4 has more sweet sounds but it doesn't make them more realistic. Korg pa3x has more realistic sounds plus better performance on stage. The huge difference between these two is that the Tyros 4 has better libraries I mean better styles. It's more professional. Korg has simple styles but it's easier working a style on a korg than on a Tyros.
It is interesting when direct comprisons are heard. Everyone will have their own favourite and it will always be a varied response. Thanks for the message!
I agree. The better synths is a matter of subjective opinion. I can hear a slight difference, but really the result is more the skill of the musician than the synth. If you're not a professional musician and you don't need the absolute latest instrument, you can get one of these pretty cheap now (about $2,000) on eBay. I intend to get one or the other, but I'm undecided. I've heard enough side-by-side comparisons of the Tyros 4 & 5 and the Korg 3X and 4X to know how they all sound. Now, I'd like to see more a comparison of features and what all the buttons do, but nobody is doing that.
It´s called ACCOMPANIMENT which is some kind of funcion to play your song along. By pressing buttons you can control that backing like an Intro or an Ending
It depends on what U play and how U wanna play it. Both have great sounds, have their weakness too but I think that Yamaha sounds more realistic because of it allows U to play "realistically"! Listen, I set a gig for a scene last month. Several bands played. A 88 kb were pluged via MIDI to different KB so the player didn't know what KB was playing!! The fact is that to choose the sound that fit their envie most of the time Yamaha sounds were choosen!! It was my Tyros 4!! So....
Well, for a musician its simple. If you want to take the one that sounds real, Tyros is your choice. It always was, for a true musician. Thats what a musician dreams: a keyboard that can record a performance with REAL instruments. This always was my choice, although i played both Yamaha and Korg keyborads. Thats how i got convinced. I checked myself!
Korg is my instrument these days and their technology and sound quality is improving all the time. Now I'm waiting for HD video multimedia to be in my stage performance instrument as well as the great sound.
yam sounds more realistic, also in a warmer sound room. the korg sounds like its playing in a metal trash can, which could be the sound environment setting.
Now that's a very malicious comment... I am a Tyros user, and I love it. I use the vocal fx and all the great features of the Tyros in my studio. Not just pressing the start /stop button... I think the Pa3x has a great sound too... These are 2 major arranger keyboards. So keep that in mind, and don't make stupid judgements, because you are only disgracing yourself... And btw. the pa3x has a start and stop button what you can press too.
I noticed that it is just the matter of taste, and how some one likes a sound better. While some people feel that Tyros has a better sound, some other feel that Korg has a better sound. I think all of it is because how an individual perceives and likes a sound.
I have both. T4 is great. Pa3x is great. I play the Korg more. A few bars or a few tinkle on the keys tell you nothing. It's the whole performance aspects of you and the board. Play with passion, any board will blow your mind.
50-50 split, they have there own unique character, however the Yamaha has too much Reverb on everything, I think the korg is dryer and more natural, and for that reason I would buy the Korg, Good well recorded demo though,,cheers Paul
Only reason I have Korg is because the abilty and the option for working with it, if you creat sounds and styles. You have good options then.. Otherwise I would go for Yamaha long time ago.. One thing to make notice of is that the soundcard/board on the yamaha is more richer/fater and gives more detalj to every sample.. And i would describe the korg muddy sounding and thin in the styles. To you guys that says yamaha sounds like studio.. Thats even better if it sounds like studio in live stage :)
I agree with the majority of people here . The Yamaha has a more body/texture/realism to the sounds. The styles on the Korg are very outstanding indeed.
This demo says it all! No need of demos from their respective brands! This is a live comparison that simply shows who is better. And of course, Tyros 4 won again this contest.
Thanks for this great demo (and the invested time to record it). It really gave me a little opportunity to compare the Korg with the Tyros. I am a happy Tyros 4 owner, and for so far this demo confirmed me that I've made the right choice :-). The only voice I liked more on the Korg was the Real Strings with a beautiful release and a nice voilin change I hear. The strings on the Tyros 4 are too short and I need to add the release time everytime I use them. Something to improve in de next Tyros!
Both are amazing in their own way. Tyros 4 has more polished sounds so you can use it "right out of the box" for live performances or studio sessions (I think Yamaha is targeting people with little or no experience when it comes to programming and making voices and styles). In my opinion, PA3X is for people who know their way with sound engineering. PA3X gives you more possibilities with sound tweaking. You can get them both to sound exactly the same (if you know what you're doing on PA3X).
I'm becoming insane when i see this kinds of comment! Since when a style can save or cover the performance of a sound? Since when? Styles do not compensate for a bad sound! Just buy a Tyros, and you will never leave it! Not only the sounds are at the maximum level of realism, but its styles sound extremely professional, and not full as Korg's ones!
I own both.Tyros 4 comes with it's own 2.1 speaker monitor which is better than Korg PAAS amplification system, optional monitor for Pa3X. But, try Pa3X with Roland CM-110 or CM-220 cube monitor, CM-110 is more than enough for your Pa3X. Compare to Tyros 4 sound I would say that they are equal or Pa3X slightly better.
Tyros 4 with no lil doubt is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Korg, better quality and realistic in term of sounds even the arrangement as I believe. I've been playing keyboard over 15 years and my number 1 recommendation is Yamaha, absolutely 1000%!!!
To my opinion, Tyros4 sounds better. Its sounds are more open, rich and clear. Korg sounds are somewhat more "narrow" and not so accurate. Though, both instruments are great! Thanks for the comparison.
Hi everyone, i use korg and yamaha allways in parties and here is my defferent. Korg is like Mac and Yamaha like Windows both of them has their own style.
FYI: 1. I didnt "try" to discuss about Korg and Yamaha. 2. I owned more than 3 Korg's before to own a Yamaha! 3. So then this is how i can judge between them! One of my Korg's got stolen and i cried about it. But shortly after i discovered Tyros 1! Extraordinare! Almost at the same level from then! But now with Tyros 4 to which's improvements were raised dramatically at a huge level, why wouldn't Tyros be an insane and extremely good keyboard? I also liked our chat! Cheers!
When it comes down to it, and you need to fine tune stles with multiband compressors, multiband parametric eq's, diff distortion dsp's to any sound etc... pedals and expressions to certain sounds and others not, etc etc. yamaha technology gives you a handfull of tools that other arrangers can only dream of... even if some sounds here and there are not as great... usually for the lack of aggressiveness, but you can mess with the sounds a lot on yamaha
I have had three Korgs, a iX300, PA80, and my PA800. The PA800 has been the most unreliable of them. Power Supply just died tonight, LCD started dying several months ago, and is costing me a small fortune to replace. I like both Yamaha and Korg, but my next keyboard is a PA3X 76 key. Compared to Tyros 4, at least in this demo, the Korg sounds so much better. By the way, I used to sell Yamaha, and I still recommend them.
of course both 2 are awesome T4 wins the style, woodwind wocal pa3 wins the string, clarinet.drum but you can tweak pa3 a lot, so maybe this is why pa3x is quite cheaper than t4 im looking forward to the rest, bass, epiano.synth ethic etc thank u for the video
IN my opinion, Tyros4 is the best arranger for home musicians (like me). I actually own one and it's amazing. On the other side I owned a PA500 and I'm thinking about a PA600. I miss the Korg Drums, realband like styles and some unique sounds not found at Tyros. Since PA500 plays styles similarly to PA2X, I believe PA600 plays styles similarly to PA3-X (miss expensive features that I don't need). For PRO musicians, I think PA3-X is the right choice - FULLY customizable while Tyros is far behind
Of course Tyros is better. Especially in this video we can see the realism of the voices, much much more realistic that Korg's. But there's one thing i really really like about Korg. One single thing about voices and one function. First, Korg has one of the most likely drum kits ever. Tyros also got cool drum kits (especially RealDrums and StudioKit) but Korg has its drum kits more compressed! And the second and final, Korg has the "Groove Quantizer"! Tyros has only normal quantizer.
The Tyros 4 sound best when playing live and Home. It also runs circles around the Yamaha Motif XF and Kord Kronos X in terms of sound quality. Both are great sounds and I do agree that that Korg has a better string sound, however, Tyros 4 is the best in my opinion. I'm a audio phile type of guy so I think the Yamaha Tyros 4 wins. Yamaha should invest in combining the Tyos 4 with the Yamaha D Deck and Yamaha Ar-100 organs. This would make a perfect instrument. Kord should make a D Deck type als
I suppose it's a matter of personal taste, but personally I'd buy the Korg for its cleaner, brighter, crisper articulation. The Yamaha sounds a bit muddy and "all in the middle" EQ. If I had to pick one adjective to describe the difference, I'd say the Korg has more "presence", although if you look away from the video many of the samples were indistinguishable. Also I think the physical Korg design is cleaner, though I'm sure the Yamaha screen has more information.
Even the guitars at low velocity, on the PA3x, the initial transient/attack is kinda "delayed"? The electric bass too. Looks like they slowed the attack of the ADSR envelop or something. On the T4 U don't have that kind of stuff. The slowed attack on strings is another story (lol)!!! Tell me guys.
more than sure. its already a trademark for tyros its level of realism. one does not simply compare tyros with another keyboard at the chapter "realism". this is madness.
KORG PA 3X E' FENOMENALE PER I MIEI GUSTI UN ARRANGER TROPPO FORTE E' FATTO DAVVERO BENE CURATO NEI MINIMI DETTAGLI SOPRATUTTO NEI BASSI MA E' UNO STRUMENTO MOLTO COMPLETO E SPETTACOLARE, CON QUESTO STRUMENTO PUOI BENISSIMO AVERE TUTTO QUELLO CHE UN MUSICISTA POSSA DESIDERARE, LO CONSIGLIO PER CHI USA SUONARE A MODO SUO E CON QUALCHE FANTASIA IN PIU PUOI OTTENERE BELLISSIME PRESTAZIONI!
question about the brass sounds ... when the person plays the keys the brass sounds ok, but then when he hits the demo/fill in button the keyboard plays some stuff on its own and the brass sounds much more realistic and alive this is because the brass parts are really squealing and stuff like that so my question is how do you get it to sound that good while playing? for an example of what i mean go to 06:40 on the video, thanks
Tyros 4 is the best of both , Korg not even close to compare, I tried them both before buying and did not gessitate to buy the Tyros 4, sounds openly more real than Korg, you have to be death to not hear the diference!
I'm surprized by all the Yamaha love... there are tons of subtle effects you can hear with the Korg that you can't with the Yamaha... the fret squeak on a fast transition with the nylon guitar... the roll-off of a trumpet. Plus the modifier joystick is way more accessible in the heat of action... instead of pressing a tiny button close to other tiny buttons... I love my Korg.
Korg ! The PA3X is a computer/studio......you can change everything, the Quality can be much better if you know how to do that. In Korg is more inside. The pa3x has also superb articulation, i missed a lot in this clip. Korg need better speakers to hear the difference ;)
YAAMAHA : Natural , Real EQ - Dinamics , Real reverberation , Best piano sampling from a theru Yamaha Grand Piano , Natural Guitar , best styles. Tyros 2 vs Korg pa 3x winer Tyros 2. Tyros 4 vs Korg pa 3x. .......... hahaha
My money is on Korg Pa3X for better arranging functionality and Thumping Sound!! Moreover, if you want external loops in form of Styles...Go for Korg Pa3X
Tyros 4 the sintesator from the heaven! Every day i say thanks for developers from Yamaha!!! Bravo!!!!!!!
Honestly I find it hard to believe anyone could go wrong with either one. Both sound great and it just comes down to personal taste IMO
Your comment helped me understand what to look for in a keyboard.

Damn Tyros is amazing ..
I had the chance hear them both and bought Yamaha, pa3x is no league for Tyros!!
Tyros sounds so real. Korg sounds like a typical kb sound. thaks for the comparasion.
T4 & T5 the best
Depends. About authentic sound, Ketron Event and Genos 2 fights hard, Ketron prefers real audio loops, Yamaha recreates audio loops.
Thank you for video! KORG and KORG again.
I like it...
Tyros 4 for all of them......

50-50 split, they have there own unique character, however the Yamaha has too much Reverb on everything, I think the korg is dryer and more natural, and for that reason I would buy the Korg, Good well recorded demo though,,cheers Paul
the Tyros killed it.

Klasse Demo, ... wunderbar !
This demo says it all! No need of demos from their respective brands! This is a live comparison that simply shows who is better. And of course, Tyros 4 won again this contest.
The Korg’s advantage comes in its capability as a midi controller. However, Tyros is on another level as a stand-alone performing instrument.
Yamaha Tyros 4... absolutely ;)
Thanks for this great demo (and the invested time to record it). It really gave me a little opportunity to compare the Korg with the Tyros. My impressions. Piano: PA3X, Strings: PA3X, Organ: Tyros, Guitar: Tyros, Trumpet: Tyros, Sax: Tyros, Choir: PA3X.
I think the Korg MAY have a bit better pure drawbar organ, but I am really sold on the Tyros based on this demo. Wow, what a difference!
I'm becoming insane when i see this kinds of comment! Since when a style can save or cover the performance of a sound? Since when? Styles do not compensate for a bad sound! o korg pareceu mais limpo .. pode ser a equalização e volume .. mas, são muito parecidos.
I liked the guitar in the Yamaha. But there's something about the KORG's keys!! it gives an additional touch to the sound.
Winner is TYROS!!!
Hi everyone, i use korg and yamaha allways in parties and here is my defferent.
Korg is like Mac and Yamaha like Windows both of them has their own style.
this last style is best very nice on yamaha tyros 4 my chosing is tyros 4 and newer korg pax3
FYI:

3. So then this is how i can judge between them!

Yamaha! I've never been disappointed by it :)
Great Comparison!
of course both 2 are awesome
T4 wins the style,woodwind wocal
pa3 wins the string,clarinet.drum
but you can tweak pa3 a lot, so maybe this is why pa3x is quite cheaper than t4
im looking forward to the rest, bass, epiano.synth ethic etc
thank u for the video
I love the TYROS 4.....
Thats why Tyros is more experienced and a better choice. Not only this, but a lot of other things.
Tell me guys.
why does not demonstrate the tyros 4 Super Articulation 2 Voices? Demo is cool, both Yamaha and Korg arrangers are brillian
I said most pros, not all pros....:)) Its great to hear that you're using your board to its full capacity....and that's a point to note down.
YAMAHA = very very beautiful sound.
KORG = very very best sound when you play with the band.
Yes, Korg is! Is the only thing that saves Korg from total disaster in front of Tyros. I always liked the drums from Korg, rather than Yamaha's.
more than sure. its already a trademark for tyros its level of realism. one does not simply compare tyros with another keyboard at the chapter "realism". this is madness.
You gotta check price .weight portability, rythms etc i preffer Rolando then tyros then others first than korg
Both of them are Awesome !!!!!
KORG PA 3X E' FENOMENALE PER I MIEI GUSTI UN ARRANGER TROPPO FORTE E' FATTO DAVVERO BENE CURATO NEI MINIMI DETTAGLI SOPRATUTTO NEI BASSI MA E' UNO STRUMENTO MOLTO COMPLETO E SPETTACOLARE, CON QUESTO STRUMENTO PUOI BENISSIMO AVERE TUTTO QUELLO CHE UN MUSICISTA POSSA DESIDERARE, LO CONSIGLIO PER CHI USA SUONARE A MODO SUO E CON QUALCHE FANTASIA IN PIU PUOI OTTENERE BELLISSIME PRESTAZIONI!
Tyros 4 very good!
question about the brass sounds ... when the person plays the keys the brass sounds ok, but then when he hits the demo/fill in button the keyboard plays some stuff on its own and the brass sounds much more realistic and alive this is because the brass parts are really squealing and stuff like that so my question is how do you get it to sound that good while playing? for an example of what i mean go to 06:40 on the video, thanks
Coooool!
BTW,what situations
Should we use these instruments?
Tyros...hands down, the winner!
Tyros 4 is the best of both , Korg not even close to compare, I tried them both before buying and did not gessitate to buy the Tyros 4, sounds openly more real than Korg, you have to be death to not hear the diference!
Tyros 4 is amazing, what's its price??
