I think this is superb. Probably one of the best dio's I've seen in 2021 so far. Great finish and excellent attention to detail (although I couldn't see the snake!) and well executed. Fantastic. Great video thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your kind words mate. The snake is on the rocks on the right hand side of the aircraft, though maybe not really visible in the photos (oops!).
Really nice job. The weathering on the wreck looks very good, the scenery is super. One thing I might comment about is the lack of more details to the wreck. There would be more stringers coming out of the broken off section of fuselage and tail section. I think the break at the fuselage is too 'clean", the aluminum would be all bent up. The firewall would have piping and wiring coming out of it. Of course it would probably add another 5 or 6 hours to add that in. Sooner or later we get to a point where what we have is good enough. Again, very nice job.
Thanks. Yes, I think you're right about the break - there would be far, far more pieces both in the wreck itself and scattered across the landscape. But you're right: at some point we have to call it "finished" :)
Amazing build! Really, Really good. The jungle vibe definetly comes over. But you forgot one thing! Animals! I would suggest to add a snake on the wing of the plane to give it some visual interest and also make it interesting to the viewer to search for more animals. Parrots in the trees maybe, would be another great addition and a nice touch of colour in those fifty shades of green and brown.
Thanks! Yes, those are good ideas. It can be a bit difficult to add things like parrots etc sometimes - they're aren't always kits of them available. I'm considering a 3D printer in the near future to let me build things like that.
I really found your ingenuity and creativity inspiring in this build! I never thought I’d be interested in a diorama, but watching you create this really cool scene made me want to attempt and make something of my own. Thank you very much for your dedication to building filming and editing these for us to watch!
Started watching this video yesterday evening but fell asleep while doing so. Now I watched the other half😅 This is a wonderful diorama showing both violence and peace! The selfmade trees and the wide variety of different plants are so beautiful and a nice contrast to the abandoned and rotten war machine. The big grey stones could have been weathered a little more in my honest opinion, but the water on the other hand is a perfect addition for the overall feeling. I just like this dio!👌🏼
Thank you mate, I really appreciate that. I'm definitely going to do some more dioramas, and especially jungle and abandoned dioramas, in the future :)
It was a wait but totally worth it....an epic build resulting in a superbly realistic diorama. Thoroughly enjoyed every second of this build and it's a testament to your skill, creativity and an ability to re-purpose all sorts of everyday materials to produce inspirational pieces of work. Thanks for sharing.....hope all is going well. Robert
Thank you very much Robbo! It was a lot work but also a lot of fun, and it has definitely inspired me to make some more dioramas once I get settled in my new place. Until then, I keep thinking of lots of "todo" ideas!
Very good work - my comment would be the lack of damage to the leading edge of the plane plus some detail to the firewall it’s too clean, it was great to watch and get ideas from 👍
Thanks John. Yes, I think that's a very fair comment. Even if this had glided down, the aluminium of the wings would have taken a beating. I wanted to do some missing panels too, but the solid resin meant that was too difficult - styrene would have made this easier.
@@ModelNerd I'm surprised that Masterpiece didn't do a better job of the broken off tail. On the outside you can see the rows of rivet which would mean there was a longeron behind the skin. yet they only put in a few pieces of wide flat stock. Close but no cigar. As for the front end, a few bits of round stock and some wire might improve the look, broken engine bearers, pipes, wiring etc. All in all I love it. You put a lot of thought into it and the execution is great.
Thanks. Yes, I think you're right - I did consider using foil or something to represent more damage, missing panels, etc, and to generally make the break look less squared off. I think models, like films, are never truly finished - only abandoned.
Absolutely brilliant, extremely inspiring work .. Loved the use household products and electrical cable.. This has been a marvellous build and you can see the love in its care and precision.. ATVB . in your new location. Scott Somerset
you probably wont read this comment because this is a older video, but nobody commented on the hidden snake lol. The snake is on the rocks. Front view, left side on the big rock under the leaf. Awesome work on this diorama!
Good video. I found some of the ideas ,like painting rocks and twigs ,a bit counter productive, but it's easy to see that the author loves to paint. I use some different methods to produce similar effects in less time. Overall quite informative. Thanks
Thanks Rico. The reason I paint the natural items like the stones and the twigs is to hopefully make them blend in a bit better. Maybe it's 'scale colour' or something, but I often find leaving these items unpainted doesn't look right. You're right though - I do love painting :)
That's incredibly good, the skill shown is outstanding, would love to see one with say chindis and the Japanese not seen anyone attempt one as the skill level is insane but it think you could nail it
Awesome diorama! Congrats! Had the same problem with the Vallejo texture. It does return to paste if you pour water and poke some holes in the material. It will start to absorb the water and you'll be able to mix it at some point. Took me a day or two but I managed to save my russian ground texture. You might wanna try that with yours. Cheers!
Ah, thanks Razvan, I will try that. That Russian mud in particular was already really really thick when new, so maybe I got an old bottle. I do like their products though.
Superb job. I particularly like the painting of the aircraft, so realistic. I've only done very simple dioramas so I can appreciate the work involved n this. All you need now is Dr Livingston - and I know its the wrong continent for him!!
Thank you - this was one of my favourite builds too. I'm considering doing something similar in the future with an old, old civilian airliner or similar.
Really great stuff…I know a lot of time and effort go into your work, but you make it look effortless! I thoroughly enjoyed this! Keep up the great work
Absolutely stunning hard time to chose a favorite between this one and my previous favorite the Zombie diorama. But this one had so many great elements with the foliage and the water. Great work! Suggestion, historical diorama with a trebuchet or siege engine :)
Thank you Fredrik. Yes, those are two of my favourites too. I'm definitely in a mood to do some more. I've never actually considered a historical diorama (never really seen any either to be honest). It's an interesting idea, worth looking into it.
@@ModelNerd I thought so...he's almost sunning on the large rock formation on the left just outside the crevice...under the big tree just back of the right wing of the Zero...lololol "Am I right"...lololol
Also, this type of diorama can be good use for a kit that would otherwise be a "Shelf Queen" because of poor or over-engineering/manufacturing/parts fit/alignment issues that would demand more aftermarket stuff to fix then the kit was worth.
Amazing work as always! Also a question, is it weird that I have to take my airbrush fully apart after use every time to clean it? Some of the paint gets stuck in a part of the airbrush where I can’t clean it unless I take it fully apart.
Thank you Julian. Re the airbrush - I don't think that is too weird. I find that no matter how well I (think I) flush it with thinner / airbrush cleaner / water, it will often do as you describe and if I leave it - well, good luck getting the needle to move next time.
@@ModelNerd Right i figured that but surely there were some parts that weren't aluminum? But doesn't aluminum oxidizes a little? What about the rivets? Some pieces of the canopy windows? Just a thought. Still an awesome diorama. I have a crappy revell Huey and now you have inspired me to do a diorama with it. Keep on experimenting.
This is so underrated
Thanks mate - glad you liked it.

@@ModelNerd Aha! I will go and have another look. Thanks for reply.
Excellent diorama, I live in the tropics and you have achieved a believable looking jungle scene. Well done.
Thank you Mark, I appreciate that. I really learnt how hard it is to create a natural look while building this, so I'm really glad it looks realistic.

Very nice. My only suggestion would be to have some glass left on canopy. It is unlikely that it would all have been destroyed in crash..
Thanks mate. Yeah, that's a good suggestion - I don't know why I didn't do that.
