- Took my first big offshore trip heading out from Galveston 34 miles on the seadoo fish pro trophy to catch some snapper. The size wasn’t there but it was an awesome trip getting that far out and completing the goal of catching snapper on the fish pro. Hope you guys enjoyed the content!

I have been looking at this Seadoo Fish Pro 175 for awhile, watching this video really got me interested.
Not only are they a great fishing craft. They are just fun to go and take a ride on
Glad to see you back. This is the first video I have seen in a year. Hope the wife and baby are doing fine.
Great to see a new video!
Got my Fish Pro Trophy and heading to the western caribbean to fish Belize with it. Cannot wait. Keep the great videos coming.
That's super cool, man. Really glad you had a good time.
Great Episode amigo! ⚓🏴☠️
Love that sound
Great video.
Nice video! 🐟 🎣
Love it man. I need to get me one! Your videos are great keep it up
THAT is the reason I'm buying one! ;) I love my Hobie for shallow and close stuff, but living here I want to get out to the rigs and reefs in clean water SO BAD... Awesome video ;)
Can you give us a update on your Sea-Doo pros and cons and would you recommend this model.
Looks like this guy could give a shit about comments. Im looking to buy one this year.
Happy for you bro ! Glad you're enjoying yourself... Get a conventional reel and a heavier stick and then you'll know what's up ! While you let the fish do all the work too ! I'm getting the same Sea-Doo but I'll be fishing in Mexico next year !
Great stuff bro. Cool to see you try to earn it off our coast versus running down to Matagorda for the guaranteed bite. Props 👏 Hopefully more to come! 🤙
Nice video, good effort to get out that far on your sea doo
Ayy snapper now that's something new
amazing video brother
Good work 👍
Congrats on the first offshore trip. I had mine last month and got my first 2 snapper. I am currently on my 3rd one and have another planned for next weekend. Once you get the fever it is hard to get rid of.
It is hard to shake for sure. I just love being out in that blue clear water.
@@KagenFishing These last couple of days the waves have been 5-6 and 4-5 ft, today they calmed down in the afternoon to 2-3, I was out there for 8 hours and had a blast. Wish I could have filmed it, waves kept breaking over the bow and completely soaking me.
@@texaspwcfishing6676 It always sucks when you see the tube of water go up and around the nose knowing it’s all about to come down on you haha
Good stuff bro. Can’t believe you went offshore solo tho. Tell me you at least had a handheld vhf radio. Stay safe man love the videos
Yah it was sketchy but I did have a VHF with me and there were other boats around me most of the time.
good channel, keep update bro.... from malaysia
Pretty risky going out that far solo. Hope you had a vhf radio with you at least. Looking forward to your next video. 👍
Yah it was a little sketchy but there were boats around me the whole time which made me feel more comfortable
Picking up my2022 fish pro trophy tomorrrrrroooooow. Oh yeah!!!!
That’s an awesome feeling!
@@KagenFishing its here!! Only waited 2 months.
Catch you some 8-12” mullet or as mentioned above, snapper slappers. We use BIG baits offshore. When fishing for grouper or AJs, we’ll use 3-5lb baits. Snapper, 1lb~ live baits work well and quickly.
Glad you enjoyed your day but think those might have been ling swimming around you when you caught the Bonita. 😂 Maybe next time have fun be careful weather can come up fast out there.
You need to try jigging!! That’s how I always catch the bigger snapper or catch some pin fish, blue runners and drop them down live. The big girls hit that every time for me! I go out of Matagorda tx, and our snapper spots are normally 35-55 miles out farther out we go the bigger the snapper are
Yah I have been looking into getting a slow pitch jig set up and then I don’t have to mess with getting squid juice everywhere and since I fish inshore with only artificial I want to apply that to offshore fishing. Thanks for the tips
New sub ! Liked 😮😀
Dude, looks like there is something huge on left side of the frame at 11:55-12:05 part of video. Awesome stuff!
99% sure it was a dolphin coming up getting ready to steal the snapper haha.
Awesome 👍 I can’t wait to pick up one myself. Keep up the content 🔥🔥
Sick video! Now you just need to go spearfishing out there!
I will 100% just getting comfortable bring offshore and I’m going to slowly get my dive and spear set up together and I will be doing it for sure.
Love your videos, be sure to deflate those snappers before you toss them back or the can’t go back deep to grow up to be future big catches!
How do I do this
@@refiners_fire7801 ua-cam.com/video/6g5HgNd3UnA/v-deo.html
@@refiners_fire7801 as far as i know , not a lot . you poke them w a little device or your knife behind one of the fins.
Fish a 2 oz bucktail with a wire stinger and 2/0 live bait hook stinger. I fished out of matagorda for years and that was our go to.
New sub! Liked 😀😀
Dide nice video, Im looking to buy one myself. Remember big hooks and bigger bait get bigger fish! Try larger lures when trolling. Theyre out there. Save the bonitas and chop them up for bait at the rig.
Looked awesome! Still waiting on my FishPro to come in, but it’s not looking good for this season. Damn, chip shortage.
Ahh man that hurts. Hopefully it will come in for ya! Thanks for watching.
Same here, waiting almost 9 months and still the wait continues.
Glad to see at least someone was able to hit the water. Maybe I need a UA-cam channel???
Nuts of steel Robinson Crusoe
Kagen - Just got my fish pro trophy this past weekend and I'm super excited! Are you still fishing off your trophy?
What did you gas gauge read when you got to that first rig, 34 miles? How much gas total did you use; how much left when you got back to the launch? Do you prefer not to use the fishing seat? Is it too unstable to use when you’re off shore?
I have full tank when I leave and run eco mode. I had a little more than a quarter thank left. The seat is awesome and is stable but if I had to bring a fish in you can’t just lean down to water height. Without getting out of seat. If I had a longer net it wouldn’t be an issue but the net I was using was a kayak net so I needed to be closer to water
You should try going out with the ski gang! Its safer to do it in a group rather than alone.
😮😮😊
awesome......heading down for jetski fishing with a buddy in May. Is there a club of locals that go out and fish?
Nice video. What was the wind condition and swell? I tried taking my family out on July 4th but 13 mph winds and 3 foot swells got my parents sick. We got a little past the jettys then turned back around. If we kept going would it have gotten less choppy? Please let me know. Thanks
So it really depends on wind speed. If the wind is blowing higher than 8mph you are going to have chop. But it depends on duration of wind speed and direction which builds the primary swell
Awesome cinematic shots, what action camera are you using? Amazing videos
I’m using the Insta360 one x2
How many miles can you get out with full tank with that model?? Cool video man! Keep it coming
Total range is 100 miles but I could easily bring extra fuel and extend that
Would you be able to add a platform comfortable above your cooler? A removable one would be dope.
I’m sure you could but you could just stand on the cooler if you wanted a higher vantage point in calm waters
Coming down there with the family July 11th - 18th and bringing my seadoo spark if you shark fish ill be at crystal beach slaying them
Did you use the swivel seat on this trip?
Why didn't you bring a small, breakdown rod with sabiki to get some bait to send back down? Not enough room on the doo? That's my plan for when I get mine.
Did you have enough anchor line, tie off to rig, or troll around it?
one thing you will learn jetski fishing is you better have a good reel and rod combo. ive learned the hard way.
Missing seeing you post man I hope all is well
Wife and I are considering these. Can you troll with the rear seat on and up? Or at the least, can you hop in the drivers seat and fire on the engine to troll away from the shore while the rear seat is elevated? We heard there was some sort of safety feature, but if we were fishing lakes it would be impossible to uninstall and reinstall the rear seat every time we needed to put away from the shore
Yes you can run up to 20mph with the rear seat up
@@KagenFishing are you still loving the jetski? Any figment/tolerance issues with that seat after use? Anything else Of that nature
Why do they beep the horn on the rig? Been digging your videos! Been trying to get a fish pro for 3 or 4 years now. The two times my wife gave me the go-ahead, they were sold out. 🙁 unfortunately she takes till spring to warm up to the idea, but I keep telling her after February, it's too late to get one. 😞
It's to say its an unmanned rig.
@@BodaciousBohannon interesting
Great video 👍 What mount and you using for your 360 cam?
I am using a ram ball rod holder wedge in one of my rod holders to their ram ball arm
Id take the short drive down the freeport and go out of there, shorter run to better water.
Agree
What do you use for emergency communication?
Nice vlog bro
Did u buy seadoo brand new
Great setup
Yup sure did it was the first thing I have ever bought brand new haha.
Use sardines , buddy.
Whole squids , or sardines, 10-12 oz weight at 100 ft deep will find giant red snappers.
I like your SEADOO.
Good luck and have fun.
Thanks for the tips!
What was that in the water off your starboard bow at 11:57?
How long did it take you to get to the rigs?
how did u anchor to the rig?
planning to do the go out do offshore from Galveston. Where did u launch out from? how was the wave , thanks
I launched from dike. I watched the wind speeds and swell height and picked a good day to go where the swells were smaller
I'm out of Katy TX and just bought a 2023 Fish Pro Trophy, I am itching to get out to snapper waters, let me know if you want to run tandem!
Sounds good!!
I live in Louisiana and I’m getting one next week. Where are you? Just seeing if we could connect and fish some together!
Down in Galveston
How do you have your cam mount set up
Good stuff man! Hey i'm new to this. Been wondering what's that horn or beeping sound in the background.. Mind sharing? 😃
Yah it’s annoying but it’s the rig. They have that horn go off as an alert as a marine traffic warning of the rig. Work really well when it’s very foggy and visibility is low to none.
@@KagenFishing Thanks for info! Looking forward to own a Fish Pro Trophy some day soon.. Cheers man!
Awsome video man what’ was your average mph and how long it took you to get there… and how much gas you had left looking in getting one fish pro
I averaged 30mph. I put it in eco mode to make sure I conserved fuel on the way out which slows down acceleration and tops out around 30-32. Because there was a decent ground swell it was a perfect speed to keep the ski from coming out of the water. Total round trip was around 70miles and I burned about 14-15 gallons of gas out of the 18.5 gallon tank. If I didn’t troll for as long as I did I would have burned less
@@KagenFishing how long did it take to get out there?
@@adrianlemus2768
70/30=2.33
@@shumardi1 nice didnt think when I made this commen
34 miles offshore and someone wants to be that close to you!! All that open ocean
I think they just wanted to check out the sea-doo haha!
What is that alarm? Is that the fish pro or the platform?
The platform
Nice video! I was the guy who messed up your intro lol. What’s up with your reel handle?
haha awesome!! I guess on the way out the knob came off so I was just working with what I had haha. Also the anti reverse wasn’t working but then mid way through the day it started working again. I need to upgrade my set up haha
@11:52 did you see the big ass fish on the left side of the screen?? sharks dont reflect like that. also where did you launch in this video?
where are you? you ok Mr Kegan?
I'm jelly
That did look like fun. Just wondering how were you tied up to that rig?
The fish pro come with a little red grapple anchor and I just throw that over one of the rig pipes like a grappling hook and when I want to come off I just pull and it comes off.
@@KagenFishing that is good you know i had another idea but not sure if it would even work. If a big magnet would stick i suppose you could attach that to it as well but it would have to be a strong one lol.
@@paulhuval that is a super cool idea. They do make some very strong magnets and would be for sure easier than throwing a grappling hook haha
@@KagenFishing that was the same thing i was thinking and it is not like the sea doo is a large boat. I want to get one myself but they are in limited supply right now do to the chips..
which website do you check the sea conditions to go out?
I use noaa to check buoys for true offshore wave height
Question. How much fuel did you use going out that far?
I burned about 14 gallons
@@KagenFishing ok thanks. Enjoyed the video
Did you tie up to the rig? If so how? I have a sea doo on order
I just threw my anchor over a rail like a grappling hook. I got it back but I dont recommend it haha. I now have a cheap water jug that I can fill with water and have a rope with a bungee that I throw over so if I can’t get it off I’m only out 3$ instead of the cost of an anchor haha
How much fuel did you use, or have left in your tank?
It seems like I still had 1/4 of a tank left. I had 30 miles of range still when I got back to ramp
Also, how long did it take you to get out there?
About an hour cause I was just cruising at 30mph
Like watching your videos! Do you have GPS location of the rig? How do I get to it
I use navionics on my garmin chart plotter. But it’s also an app you can download on your phone to find them
leads to an question... what kind of range/distance can you go on that sea-doo.. 30 miles offshore?
Running in eco mode which is abt 30mph you can expect around 100 miles of total range
@@KagenFishing that is awesome
We miss you, man. You created totally new fishing experience UA-cam video. Hoe you are doing well!
Thanks man I really appreciate you watching and glad you enjoy the content. Everything has been good just with work and family life now that I have a kid takes up most of my time. I will get back into it though and make more content!
How far can you go on a tank of gas?
That’s a good one Maybe not lol they’re getting harder to reel in and smaller every catch 😂
Did u just go straight past the jetties
I headed more south after I went out of jetties
Where’s the best place to launch from in Galveston
Unfortunately there’s only 2 launches in Galveston. One at base of causeway and one ya yacht basin. Both you have to pay for. That’s I prefer to launch at end of dike
what were the beeping sounds?
The rig
How did the trophy handle the trip? …….. I’m thinking of getting one. How long did it take you to get there
It handled the trip easy. took me about an hour to get out there I was on eco mode which limits the top speed to 30mph to conserve fuel. It cuts through 2ft chop like it’s not there only thing is when there a long period swell it will come out of water depending on how fast you are going. If there isn’t one you can run as fast as the ski will go which is 60mph. It’s an amazing craft and when just dropping straight down you could have another person go out there and fish with you no problem.
@@KagenFishing thanks for the feedback. My only thing is I fish out of a kayak and how do you apply that to flats fishing? How shallow can you take it?
Seadoo recommends you not run it in less than 2ft due to the possibility of the impeller picking up stuff from the bottom but I have taken off in 1.5ft without issues
I have drifted flats and I have a power pole micro on it for anchoring. eventually I will put a trolling motor on it
@@KagenFishing is there room for a trolling motor?
Pro and con this seadoo vs an offshore boat?
Start with seadoo pros cheaper to run and entry cost burns little fuel compared to boat. It’s fast. Also good for inshore shallow water fishing. Great to use to get to wade spots. Is just fun to go on rides and explore. Cons. You can fall off offshore. You could bring a friend but you will be cramped. Range is limited to 100miles so max 50 miles out(here in Texas gulf you have to run far to get to deep water so maybe that’s a non issue for you). You can lose gear easier due to not having the high gunnels and no true boat deck. Won’t handle large waves as good but who wants to go out when it’s super rough anyway. I’d say that’s about it. Overall ski is a more versatile fun platform that burns less fuel and can go fast. If you are a specifically an offshore fisherman or want to bring ppl with you and go far then go with boat
@@KagenFishing thanks for the info, definitely will be my next fishing ride for sure
Hey ur not doing anymore vlogs ur last one is 10 months ago hope all is going well
Thanks for checking in man! Yes everything has been going well just work, life, wife and a two year old have been keeping me busy haha. I’m going to start uploading soon though so don’t give up on me haha!
Use bigger setups so you don't get worn out so quickly fighting the little guys also bigger bait bigger fish definitely need cigar minnows
Yah I realized that after I was out there. I will for sure get a bigger set up and I was only using 7`o hooks and will be getting some 10`o and cigar minnows next time
Is your jet ski still on sale?
It is still for sale
@@KagenFishing how can I get a hold of you?
@@KagenFishing why you selling it? that thing is sick
What was the depth?
Closer to 100ft
1) how dare you use all that squid to catch fish when you could have given it all to me? In would have eaten it all. 2) I don’t think I’m gutsy enough to go 30 miles off shore and have the ability To find my way back. (What’s the best way to not get lost)? 3) Bitchen video 😎👍🏽4) do you keep extra batteries for the ski and plot a course or notify coast guard where you are?
What’s the top speed on that baby?
60mph and it can get there quick
Oh my that’s awesome. So how long did it take you to get 30 miles out?
About an hour cause I was in eco mode to conserve gas and it limits the speed to 32mph
Hey buddy I have a trophy edition and would like to reach out to you, I’ve been wanting to do just that but would like a partner.
