Victor, you have been sent from heaven.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make your video.
I canceled the order for empty shell cases, I was just about to tear open my remote, and decided to watch your video instead.
I will grow fond of my worn out Mercedes-Benz FOB cases.
I enjoyed every second of your video and narrative.
May the universe grant you the greatest wishes of your desires.
    Thank you once again,
    God bless you.

Very helpful! Just bought new case (Chinese replacement and you nailed each issue perfectly. Without this video, my key would be useless, and in pieces and my car unable to start. Thanks!

Last year I attempted to get another key fob from Mercedes and was informed that there were no more for this type of key. The alternative offered to me was to order the simple blade key with chip from Mercedes using my VIN, the cost was $98 each (I purchased 2).
Your rant is understandable, I was completely upset to find that there was no replacement from the manufacturer. I too have a '99 I purchased 21 years ago new and never imagined that it would be difficult to get a replacement key fob. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful.

I’m pretty crafty myself and I’m hella glad I looked further into the key fob videos right before I screwed my original key off by prying it apart. I knew something wasn’t jiving and thank God I found your video. Thank you soooo much, and yes I was at the corona point of no return so, CHEERS!🍻

Many thanks for this video, I need to do this for my relative’s W163.
Now I will be very cautious about buying non-genuine key cases, so many parts not made correctly these days, so much rubbish that is supposed to fit but doesn’t.

HI Victor, first off many thanks for the good work you do. I am using your videos quite a bit. I also needed to replace the spring and button on my key and ran into the same issue you showcased. I bought the chinese replacement key ( little different from yours, same cr...p though) and ended up just replacing the spring and the button. Last time I got my key from the dealer it was 300 USD plus tax.

This is a good rant Victor ..I'm going through the same thing .. the old case still works but I use the master key for access. It kinda defeats having the remote. I have one more case to try before I just give up..

Couldn’t one glue the chip permanently near sensor? I’m thinking of doing this just Incase the key fob was lost

    • @vsandvs
      @vsandvs  2 роки тому +1

Yeah, that's what I do. Remove the chip from the keyfob, get another coil, glue chip to coil and leave it behind the dashboard permanently. That way the car can be started with just a blade.

And you can also add remote starter if you do that.

I have the same problem with my W210 key (one button one), light pipe cannot be fitted, board fits loose. I have bought two, one on ebay and the other on amazon, no luck. In my case key does match size.
My plan is to modify the one I bought, but really, I would like to manufacture a case replacement on a CNC. I wonder if there is a forum thread somewhere with this kind of issues, and maybe someone that has found the right seller.

Ivan, MB dealers should have w210 keys still. Got one last year for 220 usd at Classic MB Tyler TX. On our ML500, year 2002, NSL, they're all gone. In that case they did order me "Valet Key" - no remote alarm or central locking but opens starts & runs ML. It was 45 usd. Keep in mind even this valet key has transponder chip inside, which is why MB dealer must order / requires proof of ownership. Hope some of that helps !

It’s sad now because Mercedes’ doesn’t make any of the remote key fobs for anything older that 2000. So anyone with a flip key fob and it breaks, your SOL, all you can get from Mercedes is the traditional master key with the red dot on them.

Hello I bought an aftermarket key case and it did not hold together well and I dropped key on the black top road and it popped apart and the transponder chip fell out I cannot find it anywhere and to replace the key is now going to cost me from $485 to $758 to have new key fob with transponder chip from dealer and a online key fob distributor . It is very true Mercedes will very soon not be producing the key fob or transponder chips and if you have only one and it becomes distroyed or you loose your only key your car is basically trashed and junk because because you need transponder to start car ,no one is trying to produce these as aftermarket . It is sad that Mercedes and Chrysler Crossfire ( basically SLK ) are worthless if you do not have a working key , can someone come up with an aftermarket product to bypass the transponder My car is now soon to be 16 yrs old I am not worried about someone stealing it. that is why I have insurance . I should have glued the transponder chip in ughhh I am so upset. My only option is to take my good remote apart and glue the last transponder I have and glue to ignition ring then I can use and cut key in my car. But I am afraid to ruin my one and only good key ughhh. Thanks if anyone has any ideas wow to get just a new transponder both remotes unlock a dock my car only one starts it now ?? Plzzzz help

@@olakunleofficial i think reason its glued is the owner may have had this happen to the remote in the past.My transponder in one of my 2 working key had a small amount of glue and a white plastic clamp, be very careful not to break the transponder chip if you remove it i would just glue the cover of the remote your trying to fix close to the transponder antenna ring in the ignition. I have ideal to take the working key and put near transponder antenna ring and use any cut key that fits your car or shave all you tumblers so that any key will start your car I even shaved the tumblers in the door lock in the drivers door so i can use and flip key cut or uncut only you know this you can buy aftermarket flip key in install your factory remote electronic so you have a working remote and flip key this is just a thought hope this helps you. I bought a 8 factory remotes and now any of these keys to open and start my car. Its a shame Mercedes made a horribly complicated security. cause now Mercedes killed this car 10 yrs ago.so treat your keys like a treasure I have only one transponder now which is glued into my car permanently . cause if you loose the transponder your screwed .
