*Rubens Barrichello to Caterham - 2014* This one was only a part time basis granted, but I still think it's an interesting talking point. Rubens Barrichello had signed a contract to race for Caterham for the final 3 races of 2014 in place of Kamui Kobayashi. However, when both Caterham & Marussia entered administration towards season's end, the deal was effectively cancelled, and Barrichello never returned to a race inside the cockpit of an F1 car. *Heinz Harald-Frentzen to Toyota - 2002* After a poor start with Jordan in the 2001 season, Heinz Harald Frentzen found himself out of a contract midway through the season. He eventually found a seat at Prost to the end of 2001 after Jean Alesi left the team to fill the vacant seat (essentially a swap deal). This left Frentzen without a contract for next season; a season in which a brand new team were going to enter. Although no talks were confirmed, there was quite a bit of speculation that Frentzen would join the Toyota team for 2002. Now I'm not complaining about the decision not to bring him in here but just imagine if, on their first season in F1, Toyota had the highly experienced and highly skilled pairing of Heinz Harald-Frentzen & Mika Salo spear heading the project into the future. I don't know about you, but I certainly would have loved to have seen that. *Lewis Hamilton to Williams - 2005* Back in 2004, Lewis Hamilton was still under development with McLaren. Behind the scenes though, the young Lewis felt he was ready for F1 whereas Ron Dennis wanted to retain in Formula 3. Midway through the season, Lewis's dad Anthony had approached Sir Frank Williams and asked if he was prepared to offer his son a seat for next season, even if it meant parting ways with McLaren. Williams were very close to signing a deal, however Williams' engine manufacturer BMW would not fund him, and so nothing came about and Hamilton went back to McLaren, agreeing a deal in F3. *Damon Hill to Stewart - 1997* Damon Hill was coming off the crest of a high having just won the 1996 World Championship for Williams, and yet he found himself without a drive for 1997. One man with an interest for the new world champion was Sir Jackie Stewart who was about to start up his own F1 team for the upcoming season. Apparently Stewart was desperate to get Hill onboard, and made a good deal to offer Damon. It broke Stewart's heart when Damon rejected however, who stated that he thought it was too much of a risk, going from a world championship winning team straight into a brand new team, and instead opting to drive for Arrows for 1997. *Jim Clark to Aston Martin - 1960* At the start of his career, Jim Clark was something of a Lotus development driver. Along with stints in Formula Junior and Formula 2 for Lotus, he was supposed to race in F1 for Aston Martin on his debut at the 1960 Dutch Grand Prix alongside seasoned veteran Roy Salvadori. In a turn of events however, John Surtees had opted to race in the Isle Of Man TT that same weekend, which left a free seat open at Lotus. And when Aston Martin didn't have a second car ready in time, Lotus opted to run Clark in the spare Lotus.

The one that shocked me was the Alonso one and the Hamilton one because if Alonso would be in the Brawn Gp team which later became Mercedes he would have won many titles, while Red bull inspite of struggling in 2014 would again make a quite competitive car in 2015 and if Hamilton had went to RedBull then we would have seen RedBull vs Mercedes for Constructors honours and Hamilton vs Alonso for the Drivers honours, which could have become one of the greatest rivalries in F1 history which would have been among the likes of McLaren and Ferrari, Senna and Prost and Schumacher and Hakkinen
Alonso was Ross Brawn's first choice too. He said this at that time: “I think he’s the best driver in F1 because of his balance of experience and ability. There are three very quick drivers who have established themselves so far in F1. There’s Lewis Hamilton, there’s Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando. If you look at those three for a team in our position, where we have a strong rebuilding process going on, then we need a driver with strong development capacity, experience and absolute speed. Alonso Ferrari 2007-2008
Brawn 2009
Red Bul 2010-2013
Mercedes 20014-2020 16 championship
@@istvannekovacs3908 16 years of domination
I wish a move for Sebastian to Mercedes happened. He had a bunch of good races during his time at Ferrari. But ultimately the extremely poor handling of the car kept him from winning two more titles
The editing on these vids is spot on
Great vid guys.
Good non race weekend content 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
His videos are just a different breed
Seb and Lewis as teammates 😍
For real I bought a RB cap in 2013, because I was thinking Kimi was going to Red Bull instead of Ferrari
I remember how excited I was when Kimi was in talks with Red Bull
nice! thought i was the only one remembering how Honda and particularly Ross tried to convince Nando to join them before 2009
the thumbnail tho 👌
Wow I think the Alonso to brawn move was the craziest one. I'm just imagining the possibilities
Another one is Magnussen almost going to ferrari instead of leclerc, and he almost also went to toro rosso
Lowkey thought this was overtaking moves 😂
I would love to see Ricciardo in Ferrari.
that shannon sharpe cameo
Another one is Hulkenberg to Mercedes in 2013
He was one of the main choices for the seat until Hamilton snagged it
Giovinazzi apparently had opportunity to join Mercedes but joined sauber/alfa romeo as he preferred the team as a whole
*Rubens Barrichello to Caterham - 2014*
This one was only a part time basis granted, but I still think it's an interesting talking point.
*Heinz Harald-Frentzen to Toyota - 2002*
After a poor start with Jordan in the 2001 season, Heinz Harald Frentzen found himself out of a contract midway through the season.
*Lewis Hamilton to Williams - 2005*
Back in 2004, Lewis Hamilton was still under development with McLaren.
*Damon Hill to Stewart - 1997*
Damon Hill was coming off the crest of a high having just won the 1996 World Championship for Williams, and yet he found himself without a drive for 1997.
*Jim Clark to Aston Martin - 1960*
At the start of his career, Jim Clark was something of a Lotus development driver. And when Aston Martin didn't have a second car ready in time, Lotus opted to run Clark in the spare Lotus.
please make a part 2
love this video
"soaring with Williams"
Words that will never be heard about 2018-2020
Sneaky "High School Musical" insert there, buddy haha! Sneaky!
You have missed the craziest Alonso to Red Bull in 2009. Especially as it’s not hearsay, this was confirmed by Christian Horner many times.
Can you do a video on what happens to your brakes when they lock up
I almost drove for McLaren but Ron never picked my phone, bummer like that
Jenson Button to Ferrari in 2013 almost happened. Contracts on both sides were almost finalised but the deal fell apart for unspecified reasons.
There also was Alonso wanted to go to Redbull or Mercedes after 2014 which the teams almost made happen but ferrari blocked him and then signed vettel behind his back
There will never be an option for fernando in mercedes. Daimler board has him banned from driving a works car.
@@Bahamuttiamat why? And that wasnt my point tehre was a chance for him to join in 2015
@@magicalonso14_18 No. Fernando isn't allowed to join a mercedes works team because of 07.
@@Bahamuttiamat because of Lewis? Or wdym he didnt do anythign wrong in 2007 except blocking Hamilton in hungary
@@magicalonso14_18 Mercedes was the title sponsor of mclaren in 07. The $100m fine was paid by Daimler. Since then, there has been an embargo on alonso driving for a mercedes works team. This goes beyond toto wolff to the board level. Germans don't forget.
if ferlando said yes..... f1 would have been SO MUCH EPIC
I would say the craziest driver move would've been Hamilton to Red Bull
Mika Hakkinen to Midland 2006
Mika Hakkinen had won 2 World championships in the late 1990s but he signed a contract with Midland F1 Team (Now Aston Martin) in December 2005 to try and join the team. But if Mika's contract lasted longer the team became Spyker then Force India later in 2007/2008 meaning he was interested and lost his Midland drive for 2006.
2:45 god i love 2000s and early 2010s style
WTF1 Doing the Lord's work.
It's crazy to think how different the stats might have looked if Michael went to Mclaren and Lewis went to Red Bull. And who would have taken their seats if they had made those moves. Would Ferarri have kept Alessi? Would Hakkeninen have switched to the red team? Would Hulkenburg be a multiple World Champion at Mercedes? What about Max? Ahhh so many possibilities!
2:33 it lagged at that exact moment which i find so funny
Michael to McLaren was a huge thing in 96 through Mercedes
True. Michael was and still is a Mercedes driver. After the failure of create a Mercedes F1 Team (now Sauber, well Alfa Romeo) back in mid 90's, the rumour of Michael driving for McLaren was massive for 1996. It was almost done. But then everything changed. Imagine Hakkinen driving for Ferrari and winning 5 titles there !
The Kimi one happened to me in F1 2020
3:48 That's important 😂
You already did this
I do believe
But I’m a loyal fan
And this video I cannot leave
Matty as well
A great commentator
That’s why this video can’t be saved for later
(Silently beatboxing in the background)
2:34 Wingman in Italian is braccio destro
5:33 Oh, Fernando!!!!!
Kubica was on the pace.. of what? the Safety Car? :)
IDK. All of them, but kubica's( I'm sorry if I misspelled it) story is so freaking sad
Kimi to Ferrari in 2003. Ferrari offered Kimi a contract in 2001 for 2003.
Kimi to McLaren in 2010.
Kimi to Red Bull in 2014.
Sainz: Toro Rosso, then Red Bull, then McLaren, then Ferrari
Ricciardo: Toro Rosso, then Red Bull, then McLaren
I like where this is going
If us racers get hurt we find a way around it to race *( I’ve known racers in wheelchairs that drove hand controlled race cars )* I’ve had a broken foot needing surgery since September of 2020 but I still race everyday on my simulator I push the load-cell with my heal to stop the car, I’ll be glad when my foots fixed soon I’ll be heal toeing it during recovery which I’m not great at unless there’s a shifter and clutch involved but F1 paddle shifters and heal toe that’s gonna be a learning curve I think
Kimi dabbing made my day
Omg imagine how different the last decade’d be if Alonso signed for Honda that became Brawn after 2008 and then Mercedes after 2009 and if Kubica signed for Ferrari ...
4:51 the redbull crewmember is doin a heil...
3:16 well, it was not that clear, his race pace was ok, but in Quali he was way off the pace from his rookie teammate - George Russell. Kubica eventually scored the only point for Williams in that year and quite sadly, the last point Williams has recieved since to this date.
You missed when coulthard almost signed with renault instead of alonso
There's something I think all of us wanted to see Kimi dabbing
Kubiak and Bianchi would have been incredible to watch
I forever wonder what would have happened button would have stayed at mercades for 2010 onwards
He said this at that time:
“I think he’s the best driver in F1 because of his balance of experience and ability. Fernando has all of those things.”
anyone else think the visual pairing with the audio on this video is awesome?
Kubica won the opening race with his team last weak in the European Le Mans series
"Michael and Ron met in a hotel" I bet crapmocker was playing catcher
You missed Senna at Ferrari, he really wanted to get that seat
I wouldve wanted to see Seb and Alonso as team mates at Ferrari for 2015-2018. Wouldve been a powerful combo and we could see how the stack up in equal machinery
The fact about Ricciardo and Ferrari is a little bit funny considering that him has replaced twice Sainz, first at Renault and second at McLaren. What if he ll take in the future his seat at Ferrari?
Btw,i remember in 2013 were discusions about Romain Grosjean signing Red Bull as well
I read about the whole Lewis-Red Bull thing in Adrian Newey’s book
Matty to Renault. You looked good in the suit. Didn’t crash. Who knows what you could do in an Alpine....🤨😝😜🤪😅😂🤣
Keep up the great work folks 😎
You can make a whole video on Hulkenberg almost drives
Barrichello to McLaren deserves a honorable mention
