My first year in BC I moved here in Sept. And hauled from Vancouver across the 3 to Alberta that Winter and never saw bare road all Winter 30 years ago.
Drove for westcan from 2006 to end of 2011, before returning to uk. Amazing to see the changes on that road, will be so much better when its done. Fascinating to watch after so many yrs away.
oh I bet it has been wild ride back then, I started driving there in 2021 when it still was the old road, i hd some footage of the start phase of the construction but lost it cause of my not so good tech skills.
I drove there many months ago the last time and none of the new road areas was done and it was terrible but also amazing to see the workers doing an amazing job
Trying to figure out ...watching those videos of those bridges and viaduct etc.. when you entered Kicking horse pass there was those steep bends etc. What happened to that piece of road? All those videos made it look like a straight gentle down hill series of bridges. What happened to the last downhill into Golden?
@@centinelroads what about the costs of road repair from rock slides and snow removal though....doesn't it work out to be the same cost in the grand scheme of things....also that stretch of highway seems to be just clinging to the cliff side ....I'm not engineer though so what do I know lol
@@centinelroads Sure, but look at that cliff side hanging highway that is going to need constant maintenance plus the fact of falling rock and having to keep an eye on things like that. Tunnel you wouldn't have to worry about that....nor snow removal
I guess highway maintenance jobs could be lost because of a tunnel though....also snow removal which could be employment for some. So there is that. I wonder if they've put enough concrete pillars/support for that highway though. I guess as long as it's not a seismic area it's ok but falling rock could still be an issue
What great improvement from the old road.
But not as nice because its too good
Driven this many times. Although with a car it was slow and fun but good to see the 4 lane construction. Truck drivers will be so happy.
It's really good now when it's done
❤❤❤❤
From Virginia loves video

Thanks for the update, this is look WAY better.

This has always been the spookiest piece of road between Calgary and Kamloops
Yes it is scary because there are so many drivers that does not have a single clue how to drive, But the views are absolutely amazing.
@@TruckingwithMax I agree because if you keep your speed down and have your wits it's a safe drive
Btw….thanks for the great video…👍
you are welcome, I have a new update video from about a week ago if i can recover it, accidentally deleted it but tryin hard to recover it.
Cool Road and very interesting construction zone
yes very cool construction site
Travelled this many times….winter and summer….one scary trail!
well it is going to be way more safer and hopefully people dont speed too much and keep it safer
i appreciated the quiet drive
Very nice to see progress albeit at a snail's pace. But I get it, it's the most complex piece of infrastructure built out West in generations...
Yup very interesting looking the different stages of construction
best video on this new hwy 👍
thank you i have a new one coming out and it has gone a lot further from this video
Looks like it would be hell to drive in winter
No it will be a peace of cake but it was hardcore before the upgrades
Amazing!
oh yes it is amazing to see all these beautiful views
@@TruckingwithMax Safe travels!
@@floydt2029 Thank you

Yup just small finishing touches and done

Yep, no more super tight bends scraping the mountain wall, they are making the road more safer to travel but it was really cool going on the old road
👍👍👍👍👍🚒
wroom wroom
They could have tunneled some of it
That would be a good good thing for managing the snow
But very, very, much more expensive
