You are doing a great job with these old bikes! My first motorcycle was a 1972 CB500 four, that I got for my 13th birthday (I'm 54 now) I loved that bike!
Looking at the front fork cap at 0:40 it looks like the fork cap has the gap in front. Honda designed the forks and the caps to be installed in the rear. Remove the caps and you should see an arrow that points to the front. Install the caps and torque the front nut first.... then torque the rear nut. Had the same thing done on a 750 that Hackaweek put together.
Just a quick message to say thank you. Ive recently purchased a 1977 cb550k and your videos will be invaluable! Keep em coming, im not just learning new things, im thoroughly enjoying watching
Does anyone know what exhaust that is? I have the same one on a 1972 i picked up last week. All the pics i see have 4 mufflers running to individual header. Thanks
Bike sounded good at startup. The '74 550 I had sure had some maintenance problems, eg the kill switch was also an issue plus rust as it must have been kept outside, but ran great
Love those old Hondas. My first was a '75 400 super sport. Then an '81 750 Super Sport. Now on sweet '89 Kawi Cconcours but miss the Honda's flickability.
On the exhoust use a polishing wheel on a polisher and the blue compound its ment for chrome 2 i got a doll chrome fuele tank realy shiney again and a rusted exhoust 2 only the exhoust was heavly pitted
When did the engine and trans get painted? The last video I saw of it was when you had it running on the stand. At that time the engine looked pretty rough.
Bike is looking good. Almost runs good too! lol Yea, needs a little TLC tuning wise, but should be a nice running bike. I do have one comment on your start ups though; you really crank those stone-cold engines over for what seems (to me) like forever. I never crank on an engine more than about 5 seconds max. If they don't start in that time frame, I go looking for why. If everything seems okay, then I hit it with some ether. If it still won't start after 15 seconds with ether, I go looking deeper. Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing it on the road!
Thanks for your wonderful work with CB- fours, this one is my favourite because i had 1972 CB 500 here in Finland. But are those speedo/tachometers from CB750, I think because of that cable alingment to "clocks", seems not CB500? Am I right?
good job my friend thanks|| i had one in 1975 i would like to have one now!! i am 65 years old and live in Holland {europe} i am looking for one to bild {restore}. they are hard to find here.
Thoughts on upgrading the coils on these old Hondas? Thinking about getting some Dyna coils for my 75 CB750. Not sure if they make much of a difference or not. Currently have stock coils on it. (Upgraded to Dyna S ignition last year.)
Yes you will notice a difference with a set of Dyna coils, specially with the Dyna S ignition. Even moreso if you are still running the original coils from '75, heat, vibration, use, and time kills ignition coils.
Do regulators or rectifiers tend to go on these bikes? I've ordered a regulator/rectifier combo unit but not sure if these aftermarket units are reliable.
Your channel and enjoying all your videos very well explained but i will love if you can and you git the opportunity to find a 78 or 79 gold-wing gl1000 swap points to electronic ignition no body have a video like that i am mechanically incline and i love to get mine hand dirty when i can i got a 79 gl 1000 a bought about 2 years ago to restore it and ride it but i can find nothing on the web and i bet a lot of people have those kind of bikes will love to see some video very well explained you and musty1 are the killers on this type of videos and my favorites of course keep up the amazing job and thank for al the sharing hod bless
Could you do a time lapse of your work? The summary is nice but we like to see you actually work on the bikes. It doesn’t have to be edited perfectly...just show us.👍

"Stock enough" exhaust would be a four into four. Looking good and sounding good.

Your garage is turning out 💯🔥
Really enjoying the CB uploads. Thank you!
If I could have only one bike, CB500/550 would be it. Great, reliable bike in the 70s (high school).
i'm having a cb500 pc32 from 1998.. seems to be damn solid :D she has already 80.000km and still has no issues ^^
@@xParaDoxon thanks, but no. I'm working on getting a GL1000 back road worthy right now.
I used have the same bike ,the three way voltage system ,swop it for the electronic point ,
Engine oil cleans and eats rust
Thank you for doing a stock vintage Honda. Nice bike. Nice job.
Thank you Taylor for the videos. I love these old Hondas. Wish I had this one! Stay safe and Live Long & Prosper!
I use mothers mag and aluminum polish with a wool or cotton pad. Makes everything shiny
She runs smooth as butter
really? sounds like its running on 3 to me

To clean the exhaust you can use wd40 mix with little bit of brake fluid and you can use razor blade to clean the heavier parts good times cleaning it
I have a set of those shinko tires on my cb900 and I've been very happy with them!
Thanks for sharing this informative and helpful video

2 of my Honda's have the Shinko tires and i have not had any issues at all

That bike looks gorgeous like new
Looks good.
Nice progress, Taylor! 🏍👍🏍
Great job! You do nice work. Sounds and looks good
Looking good. Can you show the air box setup?
mind sharing your technique polishing the fenders with steel wool, enjoy the videos
Cb350 looks great, can you do a carb overhaul vid on those carbs?
I neglected to say that the GAP is designed to be at the rear on both sides of the axle.
Wonder if those wires coming off in the switch is the reason why it was parked?

Great work! Beautiful bikes!!! What jets are you running with exhaust and pods on your cb500? I’m in north Louisiana
Try lime away on the exhaust
Do you have a tutorial of how you bleed the brakes?
Hey bud regards from Romania.. can you pls tell me what’s the tires size front and aft? Cheers
I've got a 72 CB500K1. Any referrals on a shop for engine rebuilds or engines in the Austin SA area ?
Try those sponge erasers on those exhaust pipes
How different is the CB400 from the cb500
How interchangeable are parts for that series of bikes and engines?

Cool thank you I Enjoy your videos
I'd love to see a video of how you get these bikes on your stands? I'm new to the bike world and use an old 40qt cooler don't judge it works ha!
Love the videos man
Is that the stock kickstand on the 500? My 550 leans a little to low and I am looking to replace it. Great video!

@classicoctane is there a frame mount key they will work on a cb550?
hi if you selling a 500/4 wot sot of price do they go for over there?

Following question, is there available to have CB500 original exshaustsystems (4/4) anymore?
yes, but it's very expensive
I have Shinko 712s on my CB650 cafe, they are not good! They are uneven and feel out of balance, even though they were shop balanced.

They were weird back in the day. Why make 4 cylinders and only produce 500cc?
Can you get a dealer tag? Would love to see the machine use sir :) screw the haters
You should get yourself a clip on microphone. Every time you move your audio goes lower.
Great suggestion to otherwise excellent videos 👍🏽
Hey Taylor i am a new subscriber to y
