    We use a similar system for keeping harmful algal blooms out of ocean aquaculture sites. Moving air is a far more efficient way of moving water. Thanks for the excellent information and inspiration. Going to be incorporating a similar system in a swim pond build in September, but it'll be clay lined opposed to synthetic liner, looking forward to that challenge. Another design will be a sub surface sand bubbler using a similar technique to keep the beach sand oxygenated. Keep up the great work.

    I have used this idea of yours on a pond that is in a subtropical situation, close to the sea. It only lasts about 3 to 4 months before algea grows in it, but as it is very cheap, I just replace it. It has worked wonders on the pond. Thank you for the idea.

    I'm wondering what the useful life is of the drip hose before the holes start to plug or what ever brings an end to air diffusers.

    • @amiratilly5900
      @amiratilly5900 2 роки тому +1

      As far as I know, hardened sludge is what plugs and brings an end to rubber air diffusers? In wastewater treatment, high pressure forces sludge to counterflow into the pores and the warmth of the air pushed through hardens the sludge?
      For this use - it's much less air pressure than in wastewater treatment reducing the counterflow? And, there's no sludge to harden and build up over time.
      A good soaker hose used as soaker hose can last as long as 4 years before clogging from mineral deposit buildup. But you won't get deposits with air. I'm hoping on getting at least 5 years?

      airstones used in small fish tanks lower the pressure of air, it's similar how when you use small water mist nozzles, those require lot of pressure
      so for deep ponds it's better to not use those stones and just use some drip irrigation heads or perforated pipes

      Hi John and others, thank you for your interest. This air ribbon is easily incorporated into the pool build but should only be considered as an addition to the standard bubble pump and plant based filtering. In most circumstances it will be beneficial, but if incorrectly positioned it may lift sediment and nutrient into the water column and encourage algae. So if fitted, it would be best to incorporate a plastic stop valve into the air supply to control the flow and turn it off if needed.
