All those parts are not expensive on their own, but Simucube must have spend a good amount of time and effort designing hardware and software to work in sim racing context hence the price. There is potential for this sort of thing to be much cheaper for sure.

Yeah 2,500$ for a single pedal is kinda ridiculous considering you can get a whole setup with a decent DD wheel for the same price. Even some wheels that are real and not replicas don’t cost that much, I think they’ll drop the price over time or make a cheaper option.

Amazing video. I would love to see a video where you test these pedals out on dirt on iracing. I'm curious to see how the feedback works on the dirt side of racing especially in something like a ump modified where trail braking and brake and throttle modulation play a huge factor
Too over priced but it's technology that is new for pedals and hopefully other manufacturers are designing their prototypes versions and are more affordable. Regarding the tactile transducers, don't the Fanatec V3's do this already? Is it not the same then in terms of just getting that cue of when to fire as both these pedals or any external transducer?
Just buy a break pump from a racing car and make it push a regular breaking pedal. Much cheaper and you get the real feeling of a racing car break pump... It it maters to you...
This could be so amazing to use as a clutch especially for a training tool for a newbie without having to wear clutches. In theory you could simulate effectively any clutch on any car which would be absolutely wild. The simulation of a clutch bite point is something I have wanted for so long to make the driving experience even more realistic but is something we will have to wait quite a bit longer as the time and effort to create a simulation for each car would be quite intense.
Ehhh.. if I'm paying $6000 bucks for some pedals. I would absolutely be upset at the grain feeling in the pedals. Don't give them a pass just because it's connected to a motor. These are 6k pedals. This is more than some used cars. It should be smooth.

Thanks for all the hard work . U guys stay safe
I wonder because formula cars dont have ABS or traction control so they dont get as much out of it and yet I see them as a primary market for something this high end.
Please do experiment with transducers...maybe, as of today, giving the sims don't output all the data they could about braking, transducers can be enough to convey ABS and teach us to be more dynamic in how we handle braking. Basically they could shorten the time needed to properly act on a brake pedals with some cars.
I've just sold my left kidney to buy this. *cough* it hurts but if I can get my zolder time to within 2s of the lap record I'll be happy..*cough* *cough*.
Great review will. All the others have come across as paid advertisements. Your standard and objectiveness of reviews has really improved over the last year or so. Yea would love a review comparing these to bass shakers.
For 6k you can buy racing rwd car and drive it for months, with all pedals, shifters, engine, seats etc, and this is 6k for peace of metal with 10$ hal sensor in it :D lol
Great review. As cost and others create replica's the price will come down, the problem with these pedals is that they really bring no value to non-ABS/TC cars. If you race a lot of F1 or quite a few other styles of cars, then you'd essentially be spending money on the software and ease of changes. The average person should get a set of HE Sprints, VRS, or even the new CSL Elite LC V2 pedals. As most of us will not be taking advantage, however, when the sim racing games catch up to the offerings and the cost of these pedals are half the price. Then that brake pedal will be beyond worth the investment. $2500 for 2, although costly, would be worth it, for now, simply outside the mass, but we know as sim racers more than enough people will purchase.
There is absolutely no way id purchase these. They aren't included in the Simucube ecosystem. You have to purchase the plate separately. For the price of a nice entire setup you can have these. Wow.
This looks insane. I WANT IT! But seriously, somehow, weirdly, this feels more interesting than upgrading to a DD wheel. I would benefit for Trucking, Cars and Racing. And having profils for each cars or sim. Heck, sounds like I could replicate a clutch's bite-point. Hmm... actually, that would be why you'd get this only the clutch instead of the brake? But for simracing, definitely brake > clutch > gas.
Awesome pedals but ahead of their time. As you point out, until telemetry in the games has the outputs that the pedals can use, full advantages can’t be taken. But until the pedals become affordable to the masses I don’t see sims having the extra telemetry channels added. Chicken and egg. For sure, if my funds were unlimited I would pick them up. Look forward to seeing how things evolve.
Simracing has increasingly become PayToWin. Those were the good old days when we played Nascar, GPL, LFS. There were also different steering wheels and pedals...but the balancing act we have today has pretty much killed fair sport. In principle, sim racing can now only take place locally with the same hardware. Otherwise it's almost like a casino where everyone brings their own dice and cards. On the one hand, it's much more immersive these days thanks to the new hardware, and at the same time it's a lottery. Of course there are also people who can set great times with a G25/T300 etc. But when this person suddenly gets a 10,000 euro setup, he is often faster. Actually you should see on the server which setup each driver is using. But firstly, there are people who build steering wheels themselves and secondly, it is not uncommon for someone to be deliberately rammed because they have a 20Nm steering wheel and the steering wheel flies through the apartment.
700.- for an actuator, around 200.- for the additional needed hardware -> so market price shouldn't be more than 1500.- (saying this as a SC2 Pro owner). But 3000 is a rip off.
I can imagine these active pedals are a PoC like cog driven force feedback in a wheel. The next generation with more powerful and linear actuators will be super smooth like direct drive but potentially even more expensive, though with more competition the price should go down.
Luxurious, but on abs cars having good wheel FFB wont matter so much, no ABS cars would be another deal with proper FFB code. Im still on my trusty old g25, here on argentina a logitech pro would be something like a year basic income.
Beautiful product, harsh price. I rarely balk at extra expenditures for quality and features but I have to pass on these. (I am happy that pedal tech is improving.)
Great ides until you calculate the fuel cost and maintenance cost of any race car, plus track fees and upgrades to the car because you actually wanna race..... Comments like this make no sense Can I drive a Merc amp gt3 in the 24hr of Le mans for 6k? No but I can in the sim I can do it for much cheaper than 6k but yeah watch the video
@@Notinserviceij I get what you're saying, yes I admit my example is flawed for the reasons you mention, but if you can afford 6k to just have better feel under ABS in a sim then that is utter madness. At best, wait a year until more players come to market and sell something for 2k, and in the meantime better to spend the other 4k on something else. These pedals won't make you drive a Merc GT3 at Le mans either for the reasons explained in the vid.
The music during the intro while Will is talking is rather irritating. Otherwise the reviews are nice. Sometimes the speech is a bit fast for my personal taste.
Love the video but the price of these pedals completely negates what it can offer IMO. They aren't practical for 99.9% of sim racers. I'd love to see a competitor attempt at making something close to this at a more reasonable price point.

So I think the price is entirely fair right now. I'm not even thinking about getting them at this stage, but active pedals will certainly come on my radar once we have more options - *and* titles support pedal FFB.
(Speaking as someone in tech/software engineering, and super happy with his Sprints).
@@JSmith73 I know that but there’s already tons of diy designs online that these people probably got a lot of their inspiration from. So this R&D must have not spent that much time, if this were the very first of its kind it would be different. Still the price is ridiculous for a pedal that’s only useful for 1 thing, if it were a full set or even the gas and brake then the price wouldn’t be to bad but for just 1 pedal it’s ridiculous. I’m sure they’ll still sell tho, but I rather wait another year or 2 for other companies to make something lower quality but cheaper price.
One day I'll get some rumble motors for the HE Ultimates which is a miniscle amount of the simucubes but will it provide feeling? Boosted media should do a comparison test vid between these "active" and conventional pedals to find out if they improve on lap-times or is it more for immersion and intuition at that level of price. Hope Will enjoys them.
Always loved your input and honesty, Will. Great review as always. Would you continue using these or would you go back to the Asetek Invictas which I believe you've been running for going on 18+ months.
Going to keep using these for now
@@boostedmedia cool. Will be following to see your thoughts 6 months from now or later. I’m thinking of upgrading from the HE+.
@@boostedmediaI know it’s only been 12 days, it wondering if your feelings have changed and if the SC AP are still on your rig.
Lol I haven’t even used the rig since you last asked me. Been busy doing other reviews.
@@boostedmedia oh sorry. Just asking before I take a plunge on one or the other. Always felt your reviews were honest and sincere and appreciate your insights.
Mechanically they appear to be a Hiwin Single Axis robot SK or KK with a brushless servo and custom control board. They look very solid! I wish I could afford 1 or 2 😅
Are these pedals able to transfer info related to traction?
For example wheel lockups when braking/spining when accelerating?
(Just going smooth)
What!!$$!$!$!$!$! 6000$ and no body comment the stupid price shit dont buy that at this price!! But good job Will.
bro the reason why i'd want to sim race is because i couldn't afford a real car...but with pedals like this i might just get the real deal. lol
It's very rare that hardware moves ahead of software. Awesome review. Thank-you.
Good review. Thanks a lot. But the most important question IS : will you buy the apple vision pro? 😂
I wonder how it would feel if you afjusted a clutch pedal to have a bite point feel like real car.. although you'd probably have to offset it for each car or si./game somehow
its good to be a sim racer in this day n age .
Hi! I'm french i don't speak english very well so I'm going to post in French.
Will do you think other manufacturers will come out with something similar for a lower price point? Does simucube have IP lock / patents on it?
Active pedals product page states that multiple patents are pending.
could you adjust these pedals to make them feel like an 18 wheeler/semi (or lorrie) pedal set? what i mean heavy and deep travels? i want to build an as accurate as possible tractor semi simulator.
Regarding the tactile transducers, don't the Fanatec V3's do this already? Is it not the same then in terms of just getting that cue of when to fire as both these pedals or any external transducer?
It shouldn't be suprising that real drivers use linear brake curves considering that's how real hydraulic systems work
With 3 pedals, does the software make it convenient to switch the left pedal between brake and clutch depending on what you're playing?
I’d like to see what you can achieve with a ‘diy’ transducer install 👍
if someone hacks these can they break your feet?
Just think , you can buy full motion rig for the price of pedals 🤣
Way better bang for your Buck on motion🎉🤗
Good review for those who can afford it.
At this price it’s literally cheaper to just replace a worn clutch 😅
It would be cheaper to buy a beater car. If you're going to blow out a clutch that easily... Lol
Hey, which games support abs ffb telemetry for the pedals? N which support telemetry for clutch?
Ehhh.. if I'm paying $6000 bucks for some pedals. I would absolutely be upset at the grain feeling in the pedals.
Don't give them a pass just because it's connected to a motor. These are 6k pedals. This is more than some used cars. It should be smooth.
PLEASE do the tactile transducer comparison, also TRANSDuCER vs MOTION RIG for us poor simmers😊
Really interested on your take on imitating this effect with the transducers, is it going to happen at some point?
How do these compare to the pedal rumble motors?
Thank you for that great second review....👍!
If I'm not a pro-racer and I'm considering spending $6000 on /pedals/, I'd refocus and spend that on racing real cars. Karts, miatas, whatever.
Looks like the tech inside this is very similar to an axis on a CNC machine
wait, so, you get the gas pedal but have to buy the brake separately?
if these simucube got 100% , what note % would you give to motor rumbles for pedals ?
Rumble motors like on the Fanatec V3s? Less than 10%.
@@boostedmedia yeah i put sim3d motor rumble on my venym.
Can it simulate the biting feel of the clutch on 3 pedal set?
Yes. This is covered in the video.
@@boostedmedia my bad im scrolling around everywhere before i sleep, great video 👌
At that price, I'd 100% say gimmick.
Thank u for the review. I would love to see u make a video attempting to recreate those effects in any other way . Just a heads up I have a kidney I’m trying to sell to afford the brake pedal if anyone is interested. Possibly a spleen or maybe a few toes so that way I can get the gas pedal along with it . J/K! Thanks for all the hard work . U guys stay safe
Fanatec need to make podium pedals with ffb for a much cheaper price.
Fanatic is bancrupt…bought by Corsair. I think they just milk the rest out of it
Hi which Trak were u playin on 48:00
I wonder because formula cars dont have ABS or traction control so they dont get as much out of it and yet I see them as a primary market for something this high end.
ALU is not emi shielding.
Please do experiment with transducers...maybe, as of today, giving the sims don't output all the data they could about braking, transducers can be enough to convey ABS and teach us to be more dynamic in how we handle braking. Basically they could shorten the time needed to properly act on a brake pedals with some cars.
Simucube had no money to build a clutch?😟
I've just sold my left kidney to buy this. *cough* it hurts but if I can get my zolder time to within 2s of the lap record I'll be happy..*cough* *cough*.
Great review will. All the others have come across as paid advertisements. Your standard and objectiveness of reviews has really improved over the last year or so. Yea would love a review comparing these to bass shakers.
Thanks John.
I hope this makes load cell pedals a little cheaper…. Probably not though
For 6k you can buy racing rwd car and drive it for months, with all pedals, shifters, engine, seats etc, and this is 6k for peace of metal with 10$ hal sensor in it :D lol
what about the clutch feel???
It’s covered in the video towards the end of the software section
Just bought one of these with the throttle and base plate. They arrive on Wednesday. I’ll update you guys with my thoughts after a few days use. 🤙
Do you have any thoughts on the pedal yet?
Look forward to seeing how things evolve.
yea when i can buy a n amazing sim rig for the price of pedals theyre to much
Simracing has increasingly become PayToWin.
I’ll probably wait for a $20 off promo or somethin.’
Only after a good haptic system
700.- for an actuator, around 200.- for the additional needed hardware -> so market price shouldn't be more than 1500.- (saying this as a SC2 Pro owner). But 3000 is a rip off.
For 6K you buy a 2nd hand BMW M5 e39 😅 WITH REAL BRAKES AND GAS 😅
I can imagine these active pedals are a PoC like cog driven force feedback in a wheel.
The next generation with more powerful and linear actuators will be super smooth like direct drive but potentially even more expensive, though with more competition the price should go down.
Every time I hear SEMICUBE I picture the PR of *SIMCUBE* facepalming...
Wut
Foot pedals for the price of an entry level race prepped car... whatever gets you going...😅
this is the future, rarely we see something push the market forward, this is one of the cases.
Go buy an Mx-5 and head to your local track instead.
Great ides until you calculate the fuel cost and maintenance cost of any race car, plus track fees and upgrades to the car because you actually wanna race.....
Comments like this make no sense
Can I drive a Merc amp gt3 in the 24hr of Le mans for 6k? No but I can in the sim
I can do it for much cheaper than 6k but yeah watch the video
@@Notinserviceij I get what you're saying, yes I admit my example is flawed for the reasons you mention, but if you can afford 6k to just have better feel under ABS in a sim then that is utter madness. At best, wait a year until more players come to market and sell something for 2k, and in the meantime better to spend the other 4k on something else. These pedals won't make you drive a Merc GT3 at Le mans either for the reasons explained in the vid.
The music during the intro while Will is talking is rather irritating. Otherwise the reviews are nice. Sometimes the speech is a bit fast for my personal taste.
Feel bad for the guy selling a kidney for these pedals just get beat by a 13 year kid with microsoft pedals from 16 years ago with duct tape on them
Depends on if you all care about is winning - for some participation and immersion is just as important
@@alexsimonson1590 For me immersion is way more important than being fast, just my cup of tea.
Love the video but the price of these pedals completely negates what it can offer IMO. They aren't practical for 99.9% of sim racers. I'd love to see a competitor attempt at making something close to this at a more reasonable price point.
No pedal is worth 6000 bucks.
Worth is subjective....to each his or her own value
It's not worth 6000 dollars
No I guess not.
But I do wish they were cheaper so I could afford them
@@GregoryShtevenshanything thats 1st is priced like one off item. The moment more companies get their own versions the price drops off the cliff and then we start seeing budget. However I do not expect them to be cheaper than a load cell pedals for at least 5 years and however long it takes for it to be the mainstream standard… 😢
Using this as a brake pedal, along with heusinkveld throttle pedal would be perfect. Unfortunately the simucube passive pedal is clunky and noisy.
