    This looks like an axis of a cnc machine. Linear rail plus ball screw plus stepper/servo motor. All those parts are not expensive on their own, but Simucube must have spend a good amount of time and effort designing hardware and software to work in sim racing context hence the price. There is potential for this sort of thing to be much cheaper for sure.

    I ended up buying the two pedal set - actually just about to unbox them. I think where they'll really shine is consistency --> faster overall, and of course immersion and getting back some of the "seat of the pants" feeling, via your feet. For me, getting back any extra feedback left out from real life is almost priceless. I'm sure there will be people just as fast regardless of the pedals - but then again, can we imagine going back to a world without FFB in the wheel?

    52:40 I’ve tried my friend’s one a few weeks ago and this sand feeling was actually quite annoying for me. Whether it’s the bevel gear design or the software, you no longer get a smooth spring loaded travel. I think this could actually be a deal breaker for some people so keep that in mind

      Could you still feel it on a short travel brake? I really wanted those, but after reading and hearing about that sandy feeling i think i wouldnt like them. @@patrickdurka6188 I don’t think it’s related to travel. a cool feature they could add to the clutch is a hotkey on the wheel which can switch the brake from your brake profile to the clutch profile to reduce the need for another pedal entirely. You could ABSOLUTELY do this without an ingame data output for brake fade.
    Have the force/resistance the pedals apply slowly degrade on a curve. There might not be an option to adjust it but its absolutely possible. You would need a "reset" hotkey if it cant ascertain when a new game is started.

    • @forestnfren8146
      @forestnfren8146 8 місяців тому

      All of this will not matter tho, unless the game has parameters that change how the car behaves over time. You would get the pedal feel, but not the ingame effects of less braking performance

    Thanks for the review will 🙏
    That grainy feeling is something i was worried about.. using just lmp/lmdh cars i would not benefit from the abs effect, just the adjustability. And i think the adjustability alone isnt worth it for me, especially if the raw feeling is more grainy than a passive pedal (i know thats something that would bother me). Simtag makes a hydraulic pedal set with d-box haptics for abs and tactiles since some time, but there hasnt been any new telemetry implementation since that from what i know. Lets see if the simucube active pedals changes that with its bigger userbase

      Rudder pedals are much different than car pedals, and require toe brakes (except for rotors/helis) so this makes no sense. Basically they could shorten the time needed to properly act on a brake pedals with some cars.

    Great review. As cost and others create replica's the price will come down, the problem with these pedals is that they really bring no value to non-ABS/TC cars. If you race a lot of F1 or quite a few other styles of cars, then you'd essentially be spending money on the software and ease of changes. The average person should get a set of HE Sprints, VRS, or even the new CSL Elite LC V2 pedals. As most of us will not be taking advantage, however, when the sim racing games catch up to the offerings and the cost of these pedals are half the price. Then that brake pedal will be beyond worth the investment. $2500 for 2, although costly, would be worth it, for now, simply outside the mass, but we know as sim racers more than enough people will purchase.

    But seriously, somehow, weirdly, this feels more interesting than upgrading to a DD wheel. I would benefit for Trucking, Cars and Racing. And having profils for each cars or sim.
    Heck, sounds like I could replicate a clutch's bite-point. Hmm... actually, that would be why you'd get this only the clutch instead of the brake? But for simracing, definitely brake > clutch > gas.

    Awesome pedals but ahead of their time. As you point out, until telemetry in the games has the outputs that the pedals can use, full advantages can’t be taken. But until the pedals become affordable to the masses I don’t see sims having the extra telemetry channels added. Chicken and egg. For sure, if my funds were unlimited I would pick them up. Look forward to seeing how things evolve.

    Simracing has increasingly become PayToWin. Those were the good old days when we played Nascar, GPL, LFS. There were also different steering wheels and pedals...but the balancing act we have today has pretty much killed fair sport. In principle, sim racing can now only take place locally with the same hardware. Otherwise it's almost like a casino where everyone brings their own dice and cards. On the one hand, it's much more immersive these days thanks to the new hardware, and at the same time it's a lottery. Of course there are also people who can set great times with a G25/T300 etc. But when this person suddenly gets a 10,000 euro setup, he is often faster.
    Actually you should see on the server which setup each driver is using. But firstly, there are people who build steering wheels themselves and secondly, it is not uncommon for someone to be deliberately rammed because they have a 20Nm steering wheel and the steering wheel flies through the apartment.
