Great Video - those Pelikans are very cheap. It is about the brand and your hand. Different brands, different quality, different nib feel. A Sailor Progear with a slightly bouncy nib, a Pelikan with a very stiff nib. Then the size of the pen and the weight and the diameter of the grip. So many things can affect the writing experience. Nib tuning matters too. I have cheap Lamy pens that write every bit as well as a Montblanc after some nib tuning. Aurora always need some fine tuning on their nibs, but when t is done they are one fo the best nibs on the planet. Sailor Nibs are brilliant straight out of the box. Platinum nibs are on the stiff side but they are superb writers.
It's an incredible store, we don't have that in France unfortunately. I would love to visit Japan, you make lots of fantastic things. There aren't many pen shops here and they aren't as big and the salespeople aren't as skilled.
Thank you for watching ❤️ I enjoy these types of shops where it's family-owned, small, but everyone is knowledgeable and you can tell how passionate they are with their items. I hope you can visit Japan someday. This shop is in Nagasaki, a not so popular tourist destination for foreigners. If want to avoid crowded places, but still see a place rich in culture, Nagasaki is a good place to start. France has many historical places and good stores, too. I want to visit again but maybe stay around the outskirts of Paris 😅
Fountain Pen Hospital? How wonderful! Yes, it is not about the brand, but about everything else! So lovely. I feel las if I am in the middle of the wilderness compared to this. Thank you so much for sharing!
Their name is so catchy, too, right? I reckon because they not only sell fountain pens, but they also help everyone take care of their pens. They give you advise on what pen would suit your needs and lifestyle, or how to write, where to write, what paper to use and such. It's "not so well-known" shops like this that can make you love your fountain pen collection more. The owner is hands-on, helpful, informative and helpful. Thanks for watching!!! #staysafe
Honestly being a family owned business for generations is important in other countries as well. If i had to choose between the new shop, the mega store or a family run business, i would go to the family business 99% of the times. Especially if my parents or grandparents also went there. Sometimes the new owners/next generation aren't so adept at the job or trustworthy, but there's still a level of professionalism that's guaranteed. Great video !
Thank you very much for watching and leaving a comment. I also love going to family-owned stationery shops. The passion and love they have for the craft and art is unparalleled. I also love hearing about the history of the store and how they started the business. Small, but successful, shops like this are few and far in between. We need more, to be honest! Definitely should be on fountain pen lovers' bucket list when going to Nagasaki.
Hiiiii! Thank you for watching the video. Matsuya Fountain Pen Hospital is very popular amongst the locals, but not really to foreigners. I'm glad they're expanding to more and more people.
Thank you very much for watching. This trip in Nagasaki was one of the highlights. I really love going to family-owned pen stores. You can definitely see the passion and love for the art.
Thank you for sharing this. I regret not going on my short trip to Nagasaki some years ago. Nice Sailor collection, but that makes sense as it is in the area too, I think. I wish I lived near such a wonderful shop with such a heritage. Aloha
Aloha! Thank you for watching. Nagasaki is a historical place. It's rich in history, the people are friendly and the food is delicious. Matsuya Fountain Pen Hospital is really accessible and easy to find. You should drop-by next time you visit Nagasaki. The owner and staff are accommodating, too! They really know their stuff!
@@epiklab thank you. There is another older video of the shop showing excellent service. I was happy to see that it is still offering the same excellent service. I shall look forward to visiting the shop someday in person. Like many people I’m a fan of Japanese fountain pens and papers. Aloha
Hello! I most definitely will go to Ravil when I visit Sao Paulo! It would be mandatory. I love pen stores that have history associated with them. Thank you very much for the recommendation and for watching my video ❤️ Regards from Tokyo 🌸
Absolutely! It was a small shop, but I believe I was there for more than an hour. The owners are so welcoming, it's a must visit for pen lovers when in Nagasaki.
Hello. Thank you for watching 😊 I highly recommend this shop to fountain pen lovers. Because they're not in a mall or a busy commercial street in a big city, you can get hard to find pens. The owners are also very friendly and informative. They really deserve the store's name ❤️ I'm not sure if the owners speak English, but I did see 1 younger staff. She could potentially know how, or at least would try her best 😜
Real heaven for fountain pen lovers
It definitely is. You should visit when you get a chance. Highly, highly recommend it 🌸 Thanks for watching!!!

Thank you for the video. I can stay in a store like that hours. Too wonderful!
I did actually stay there for about an hour and some minutes. It's not a huge store soooo 🤣

I just heard about this store on Tokyo Inklings podcast and now your video is here. 👏🏼

Great collections

So many beautiful designs! It’s hard to pick a favorite!
I know, right? it's really tough to not shop 😅 I wish I could buy them all.

Quando estiver em São Paulo visite a RAVIL uma loja quase centenária e é um ponto de encontro de amigos das canetas.

The red and yellow pens at 00:56 is a Lamy.
Good eye. Yes, the label on the left said they are Lamy Safari ❤️
Thank you for watching 😊 I hope you watch my other fountain pen-centered videos.
Beautiful
Thank you for watching! I highly recommend this shop when you visit Nagasaki. They really know their fountain pens.
This shop for me would be the equivalent to a book worm in an Oxford library.
Absolutely! It was a small shop, but I believe I was there for more than an hour. The owners are so welcoming, it's a must visit for pen lovers when in Nagasaki.
Thank you for the upload. Would love to come by to the store in the future. But I'm not in good in Japanese. Do they speak in English?
