Such a great honest review and a brilliant resource for anyone considering a visit. Well done guys. Oh, and see every time you have a coffee in your videos, I have to hit pause and go put the kettle on :D
Wow, what a great hotel and location. Those views as well! Good choice of meals. Very impressed with your pronunciation. Will be great in future vlogs, to see what you think of the rest of the island! And of course that lovely weather. Nice one, Roger.😊
Stayed here several times, never had an issue with the pricing or the staff. In fact, some of the bar staff were the best we've had on many 5 star Holidays. Planning to go back this year.
It is an excellent hotel. There was a barman called Jacob who was exceptional - but the pricing issues were definitely there in black and white in the menus 🥲 Have a great time when you go back. 🍺😀
Thanks for sharing your review. Agree on the service; sometimes felt like they were annoyed we were even there! We had quite a few problems with our room which in places was a bit scruffy too. Overall though enjoyed our stay, and would probably return one day…..mainly due to the infinity pool which is amazing
Absolutely fabulous hotel. What on earth did it cost to build, magnificent design and stunning gardens etc etc.We left yesterday after spending a few days in a room with direct ocean view. The swimming pool is enormous but is sea water. Downsides for me were the number of people at the buffet counters for breakfast, like being at Euston station. Also far too many very young children at the hotel. Good that they have included various adult zones. Also very difficult to get into the better restaurants as fully booked! Managed to get a cancellation for the top restaurant Las Terrazas, fabulous dining experience but cost an arm and a leg! Upsides the entertainment was excellent and the walk along the promenade to the beaches and the hotel cafe was beautiful right by the ocean. Very much undeveloped, nothing like Las Americas. A good 5* experience all round although probably too big a hotel for us.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience! It’s a huge complex for sure! We loved the 80s Rock Night, we saw that twice as we were there for 10 days! 🎸
Greetings from Spain! I'm going to this resort in July and your video is the best I've seen. I love it! What video camera/drone/app did you use to record and edit? They are perfect! Thank you!
Thanks so much. I shot most of this video on a GoPro Hero 10 with some scenes taken with my phone. I usually use a DJI Pocket 3 but it’s not water proof so I tend not to use it when there’s lots of water around. I use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit. I hope you have a fabulous holiday in Tenerife. 🙌
@@RogEdwardsTV I'm very impressed with your pronunciation too. You speak very distinctive and giving that I'm not native in English I have learned a lot from you, thank you so much. Keep up a good work!
We have read in other reviews that queues for the buffet and lunch restaurants are common and booking restaurants can be a challenge. Did you find this? Great video. Cheers
Hey - thanks for watching. We only had to queue for breakfast one day but it was only for about 5 minutes. On the app you can only book 48 hours in advance which means you have to get in pretty quick. We never failed to get a table but sometimes had to go at a time later than we would have liked.
Loved the vlog me and my wife are going to this resort next week. We have the all inclusive package what all does that include if you had any information thanks.
Hello! Thanks for watching. With All-inclusive you won’t get affected by the price scam in the bars. I think there are some drinks and dishes in some of the restaurants that you might have to pay a supplement for but everything in Pangea, L’Olio and Oasis should be okay. Have a great time. It’s a fabulous resort. 😀
It’s a fab resort for sure! But would you stay there given the problems we talked about? Or does it look so great you’d take the risk? Would love to know your thoughts! 🤔

Loved your video, you two are wonderful and VERY informative 👌. Still indecisive to go for red level or another 5 star hotel more in the heart of Adeje.... Any thoughts? (the comments about so much kids put me a bit off)
@thanks so much for watching. If you’re looking for more to do outside the hotel I’d be tempted to try Adeje. There’s not much going on around the Gran Melia. 😄
We are at the hotel now. Been here a week so far. The hotel has the wow factor when you arrive but for us it's not that great. We knew it wasn't an adult only hotel but was surprised to find so many kids here of both pre school and school age. That alone has put us off returning here. Also as Rog has already pointed out the service from the staff is more like 3 star than 5 star. One waiter even tried taking my plate away while I was still eating. Eat in the Oasis or LOlio whenever you can it's a bit quieter although kids still allowed. Would not recommend for anyone thinking they will have a quiet stay during school times. Shame as it looked amazing on arrival but too many cracks have appeared.
Hello! It’s a shame the service is still lacking. Hope you are having a good time, though, and that the weather is hot. It’s Baltic back here in the UK! 🥶
Great video thank you for sharing! 50 euros for the buffet is very expensive(!), were the other restaurants at a similar price point for a starter and a main? Also, are drinks prices during the day comparable with UK city pricing?
Thanks for watching. We found we could get two courses and drinks in L’Olio and Oasis a total of €50 - so half what we’d spend in the buffet without drinks. During the day drinks were about €6 for a large beer or a G&T which I guess is similar to London and Edinburgh pub prices. Similar drinks in bars outside the hotel were half that though! We wouldn’t go back to the Gran Meliá unless they stop the price hike scam in the evenings in the main bar.
@@stevemills1660 They agreed to charge us the lower price for all drinks we had in the evening at the more expensive price. I made sure I got it in writing and they amended the bills when we checked out. 😀
Hi. We are going to this hotel next week. Booked on half board. If we want to try the other restaurants do we have to pay extra for these? Also a couple of mundane questions. Are there any hangers provided in the wardrobes. Handy to know for packing purposes. Also if you use the coffee pods in the room do they get replaced or should we take some with us? Thanks great video very informative 😊👍
Hi Karen. I think the Buffet and L’Olio were included in the HB rate with supplements to be paid if eating in any of the others. There were hangers in the wardrobe but not a massive number - maybe about 10! ☺️ We didn’t use the coffee pods so I’m not sure about getting them replaced. Have a fabulous time and do please let us know how you get on! 😀
Hello! I’m not 100% sure what the room number was. I checked back over the footage but never took a shot of the door. I think it was 4132. It was a fair walk away from the bars and entertainment so we never heard anything at night. Thanks for watching. 😀
Hello! It was the last 2 weeks of September 2023 - so only a few weeks ago. It felt much busier at night when there were many more people around. Are you thinking of going? 🤔
My sister and I are booked to go for a week flying next Thursday. Is this different to Red Level or the same thing? Hoping the weather is kind to us ☀️🤞
Hello. Red Level is the equivalent of a Club level you get in other hotels. So you get an exclusive restaurant, and check-in and areas of the hotel only you can use. You can be Red Level and B&B or you can be normal level and all inclusive. There are so many different options. Have a great time! 😀
No! If you’re interested in going I’d look into it very carefully. There were surcharges for some drinks, some dishes in the restaurants and the Bali beds. I heard quite a few people who were on all inclusive complaining about the extras! 😵💫
We stayed at this hotel a few weeks ago and yes it’s a fabulous place but they need to certainly get some sunbed police on patrol and arrest the reservation armies😢
Thanks for watching! We were quite lucky getting beds by the pool but we did get friendly with the guy running the pool concierge. He was called Fernando and he was one of the best people in the resort. Were you on all inclusive or did you see the price scams we did? 😀
@@RogEdwardsTV we got a reduced deal on jet2 and certainly couldn’t complain about the price we paid for B&B even though the same week got reduced even more on Tui a week before we went. Price for buffet we felt was ott and about 35 euro would of been well acceptable. The phone next to the toilet Itbis for emergency purpose. Heart attack or you are passing out or maybe you are suffering from epilepsy etc… or maybe you just die
😅 I think its there because many times the hotel have called the room back whilst I’ve been on the toilet regarding a room service order or a transfer or a query and they don’t want you having to walk to the phone with your pants down and shit in your a hole just to answer their phone call at your bed side haha.
