Supriya Rai to Return Home from Dubai Within a Week

Supriya Rai, a 21-year-old resident of Kurseong who was stranded in Dubai while working as a domestic helper, is set to return home within a week. Supriya had issued a video appeal for help through the Darjeeling Matoko Maya Sewa Sanstha. The video was shared across social media platforms in the Mirik region, drawing attention to her situation.
After the video went viral, Dubai-based social organizations, including the Darjeeling Core Team and Team Palas member Sonam Topden, took action. Sonam contacted the Indian Embassy in Dubai and coordinated with Supriya's agent and employer to locate her and facilitate her rescue. Following discussions with her agent, Maya, and her employer, arrangements have been made to bring Supriya back to her home within a week.
The UAE, known not only as one of the wealthiest nations in the world but also for the generosity and kindness of its citizens, is a destination for thousands of people from the hills seeking employment opportunities. Many have shared stories of how UAE treats foreign workers with dignity and respect, akin to its own citizens.
