  • Dancehall Legend Big Youth, was staunch enemy of renowned Producer, Gussie Clarke. It was Clarke who had crafted his classic debut album Screaming Target in 1972 but the pair would fall out and a fierce acrimonious relationship would develop between both men for more than forty years

Solid gold once again ! One of my absolute favourite UA-cam channels. Briefly did business with Gussie once - seemed like a really solid guy, very down to earth. That's great that he went and chased up UMG for royalties. The music industry is terrible cause if you don't have someone to chase down your money for you, the labels and publishers sure aren't gonna chase you to pay you. And what happened with the whole Trojan catalog over the years is terrible. So many artists got left out in the cold.

Fascinating story and a bit amusing too.. Kudos to both Legends...(And actually the year 1972 saw the release of U-Roy's Version Galore 2 which was a sequel to his first album Version Galore of 1970)

I think it would be a magnificent opportunity to work on an Album. It could prove to be the last time they worked together and the album may even surpass the sales of screaming target such is the interest in their story.

It's a Reggae album not Dancehall. Nobody even called anything dancehall then.

True, dancehall really arrived in the late 70s when producer Henry "Junjo" Lawes came on the scene.

The dance hall was always here, it is the place where the sound systems play and people gather to hear their favorite tunes and also new ones. It later became a place where local musicians and artist would have to get their recordings play first before it could even play on the radio. Later for singers and mic chanters this was the place where they would have to get a chance to sing and show what they can do in order to be allowed to do studio recordings. North American, Big Band,Ska, Rocksteady, and Reagge music?😊
