Charlotte and Lizzie are both correct. Charlotte is right to tell Lizzie that she should be nicer to Ricky, but at the same time Ricky *is* being rude by interrupting and talking over people. He needs to re-evaluate how he talks to people, but Lizzie shouldn't burn bridges either.
I think Charlotte isn’t saying that Lizzie should by nicer to Ricky (even though that is true), but that she shouldn’t be a dick to him on camera where he can see it.
I like what they did with Collins here. He's just obnoxious enough that we understand why Lizzie doesn't care for him, but to an outside observer, he's actually sort of... cute. To me, at least.
Susan Mesler-Evans He seems very sweet and at least here it seems like his heart is in the right place, because I think he wants to help her reach her potential, but... he doesn't really understand how to talk to people.
+Ma5jay5dontxdoxthat I also think he is stuck in the mindset of pitching web video to people who really do know nothing about web video. After all, he does seem to know a fair amount about the subject from what I can tell. At least the basics. His ideas for what Lizzie should be doing with her vlog seem off though. (private internal use only videos? When she already has a stable audience? Seems like an odd choice.) This is actually the episode that made me question how much Lizzie knew about online video if she was really ignoring everything Mr. Collins said.
I despise him, he reminds me of my younger brother he cuts across people constantly and acts like he knows everything when he is in fact a complete buffoon. He just seems like a thoroughly unpleasant person
It's like how book!Collins spends time writing down compliments for ~ladies~ and tries to deliver them with an unpracticed air. He is very good at the second part, yes.
A lot of Charlotte's lines seem foreshadowing: "The internet is forever." (same thing Lizzie says to Lydia 50 episodes later) "You don't have to antagonize him." (hints at the extent of Lizzie's prejudice when she judges people aka Darcy)
Also since Lizzie ends up spending a lot of time at Collins and Collins (Mr. Collins' business) later on, "you don't have to antagonize him" is ultra foreshadowing-though Charlotte totally knew that Collins would be an important contact for Lizzie, so maybe it's also a warning
Mr. Collins is absolutely inconsiderate, perceives himself more knowledgeable than anybody on all the things worth being knowledgable about, he's rude & self obsorbed & is obnoxiously pretentious. Is he evil? No. But Lizzie is more than civil towards him, more so than his behaviour warrants that's for sure.
I have realized that the "Mr Collins" videos tend to have lower counts than the other videos. Less re-watching? The character is of course deliberately annoying ... seem the views agree it was successfully done. I've been know to skip "Mr Collins" sections when re-watching other versions of P&P too.
I skip most of the Collins parts in all media. In fact this is the first time I am seeing this episode all the way, despite it being my 3rd full watchthrough (pluss rewatching favorite episodes 2-5 more times)
A "technological evangelist" - I love it :) I really like the way it's been modernized without losing fidelity to the original. He's even dressed like a televangelist. Good ol' annoying Mr. Collins.
When she spits it out, it look like there isn't much color to it. I'm thinking it didn't steep long enough, or the water wasn't hot enough, or maybe he didn't put in enough tea.
I love how Collins practices his presentations etc. in his free time- like the original Collins. The way he goes on, its like how I am after revising- I would literally slip stuff I've studied into *any* conversation. And that look after he leaves😂.
Thanks for posting the extended version. It is an improvement over the original, especially the inclusion of the Collins talking about practicing what he is going to say.
Oh mr.collins. How I love thy character. Haha. Mr.Collins is portrayed so perfectly, just how I imagined him. And Lizzie is, of course, the ever quick to judge Lizzie. ^^
I think the way they have Charlotte and Mr. Collins acting is pretty much spot on like in the book ^^. I'm actually rereading P&P right now and am at this part! yay lol.
I love this! The way you guys have modernized the characters yet kept the personality traits that make the story work is amazeing! Like for instance the way Lizzie is quite rude to Mr. Collins yet he seems oblivious to not only that but personal boundaries as well. Absolutely stunning! Keep it up please!
It's so weird rewatching these because I love Maxwell Glick now (I discovered him through LBD, of course) and it's so strange seeing him be obnoxious and not (quite as) adorable.
Definitely! Nice to see Mr. Collins coming up with some silly explanation for his interest in Lizzie that relates to the advancement of his career. I thought he might feel that way. Charlotte seems to not dislike him quite as much as Lizzie does . . .
When I heard Mr. Collins mention that Lady Katherine was his Venture Capitalist, I almost died laughing...it makes total sense, but it's just perfect. I love how they're adapting the characters in the modern context.
Oh my goodness, the actor for Mister Collins totally mastered the mannerisms from the Mister Collins in the movie!! It is incredibly entertaining to watch. Hats off to you, sir!!
I liked this extended version much better than the shorter one! It got all the great referecs to the books, and the cut version felt skipped, especially when Charlotte's trying to explain to Lizzie how the internet traces everything.... Thanks for putting this one out there too!!
But Mr. Collin's whole character revolves around him being an obnoxious, wordy, oblivious person. Even in the novel, he was way more wordy than the other characters.
i dont get why lizzie is being so mean to him. i mean come on he bought her tea!!! thats pretty nice and considerate. i love this show and i love lizzie but whe it comes to her ineractoins with Ricky (sorry Mr. Collins) or even lydia.... espesially lydia i actually start to kind of hate her. i dont want to but she is just so..... argh!!!
Are you kidding? As for Lydia... She's ridiculous, flamboyant ( which yes, is something that makes her Her & I've come to find really endearing haha ) & throws just as many barbs Lizzies way as Lizzie does her in retribution, but that is the way with sisters. Both are accountable for their behaviour towards each other. None of it is malicious or truly intended to be hurtful though. Not everybody is born a Jane ( who is much too kind, & yes, often to the extent of unrealistic, but that's Jane & we love her for it. ) some, Have to learn & be humbled into one.
UGH! This Mr. Collins is worse than ANY of the other ones! I hate it when people think they know everything and talk out of their ass all the time! AGH!!!!!
And he finally mentions The LaDy CaTheRinE dE BouRgH
Charlotte and Lizzie are both correct. Charlotte is right to tell Lizzie that she should be nicer to Ricky, but at the same time Ricky *is* being rude by interrupting and talking over people. He needs to re-evaluate how he talks to people, but Lizzie shouldn't burn bridges either.

I love how he talks.
I despise him, he reminds me of my younger brother he cuts across people constantly and acts like he knows everything when he is in fact a complete buffoon. He just seems like a thoroughly unpleasant person
Susan Mesler-Evans I
It's like how book!Collins spends time writing down compliments for ~ladies~ and tries to deliver them with an unpracticed air. He is very good at the second part, yes.
"As a technological evangelist," OMG they have translated everything to the 21st century FLAWLESSLY
A lot of Charlotte's lines seem foreshadowing:
"The internet is forever." (same thing Lizzie says to Lydia 50 episodes later)
"You don't have to antagonize him." (hints at the extent of Lizzie's prejudice when she judges people aka Darcy)

i can't believe Ricky Collins invented mansplaining
"technological evangelist". oh, I see.
This is, like, the fourth time I’ve watched these, and I still didn’t get that. Thank you for pointing that out.
oh right, because Mr. Collins was a clergyman, right?
Sometimes I think that Darcy would feel more comfortable with Lizzie's critics about him when seeing how she talks about Ricky
2:35 "You don't say!" Lizzie's dramatics are much more pronounced when re-watching, it's pretty funny
The guy who plays mr colins is PERFECT I mean he is just like the original mr colins
*Hears the name Catherine DeBourgh* "Oh boy, I am very excited for this."
LOL! ashley clements is such an amazing actress!!! she's perfect for the role of "Lizzie" Bennet
This Mr. Collins echos the 1995 BBC Mr. Collins' mannerisms so well. He just FEEEELS so Mr. Collins.
this guy who plays mr. collins actually reminds me of the character of the 1995 bbc series
Johanna Mond oh yes!
LOOL I out blanked when he started talking, like I have no idea what he said 😂😂
"YOU DON'T SAYYYYYY"
Omg I forgot about that xD
I love your profile pic
Thank you ^_^ The art is by ikimaru on tumblr
i love charlotte's eyes so much
Whenever anyone doesn't know what mansplaining is/doesn't believe it's a real thing, I'm going to point them to this video.
(Yes, technically this -isn't- real obviously but, whatever, we all know someone like this.)
maaan that guy is a crazy good actor! that massive speech without stopping, i'm impressed.
I have realized that the "Mr Collins" videos tend to have lower counts than the
other videos. Less re-watching? The character is of course deliberately annoying ... seem the views agree it was successfully done. I've been know to skip "Mr Collins" sections when re-watching other versions of P&P too.
I'm re-watching rn, I just skip Wickham's arc, it makes me feel bad and I don't need that, but Yeah Rickie is annoying
I deliberately rewatch his episodes specifically, because he's really cute despite everything.
I watch Mr. Collins episodes more while re-watching because they're cute and skip trivial ones
I love Mr. Collins! His storyline is hilarious in the original story.
I skip most of the Collins parts in all media.
In fact this is the first time I am seeing this episode all the way, despite it being my 3rd full watchthrough (pluss rewatching favorite episodes 2-5 more times)
"Actually, it would excite me greatly if I could see your analytics. Just a peek."
"How long?"
"...hours!!"
I could NOT stop laughing!!
"No. Tea. Tea time good. Go now."
"Excuse me, Ms. Lizzie, but I felt compelled to bring you a cup of tea! I brewed it myself." His delivery on that line was stellar!
A "technological evangelist" - I love it :) I really like the way it's been modernized without losing fidelity to the original. He's even dressed like a televangelist. Good ol' annoying Mr. Collins.
... and this is why if Elizabeth Bennet was the protagonist of Mansfield Park, it would have been a very different book.
Oh, she would have WASTED Mary Crawford.
Maxwell Glick is doing an awesome job as Collins! There no cuts during his long lines, shows he's a great actor!
collins is actually much more likeable in this adaptation so far (but that's not really much of a compliment tbh)
How is Lizzie being 'unreasonably mean.. or rude'. This is her vlog... and he really does deserve it
In fact I think she was being very restrained
He considers himself to be a TECHNOLOGICAL EVANGELIST.
That's too good. Bravo.
wow.. when Collins speaks I only hear bla bla blaaa... LOL
even with the captions on, I can't tell what he's saying XD
They got Mr. Collins right on! like perfect they way he name drops perfect
What I want to know is how someone could possibly mess up brewing a cup of tea?
You can burn the tea leaves, making the tea bitter. Or add too much sugar. Or leave the tea leaves in too long
Or, God forbid, PUT THE MILK IN FIRST.
Alanna R. I know a very british lady who prefers it first.
When she spits it out, it look like there isn't much color to it. I'm thinking it didn't steep long enough, or the water wasn't hot enough, or maybe he didn't put in enough tea.
The quality of the cup determined if the milk would go in first (to help prevent cracking from the hot water).
Mr. Collins' character is just... Perfect. Absolutely flawless in this rendition. So many props to the writers!!
Even his knocking sounds pompous!
Oh wow. Mr. Collins is so completely spot on!!!!
lol the inventor of the mansplain
I love how Collins practices his presentations etc. in his free time- like the original Collins. The way he goes on, its like how I am after revising- I would literally slip stuff I've studied into *any* conversation.
And that look after he leaves😂.
"Tea time! Good, tea, go, now."
Oh Lizzie we love your coherence. (So does Darcy)
Thanks for posting the extended version. It is an improvement over the original, especially the inclusion of the Collins talking about practicing what he is going to say.
"content is a prerequisite in video blogging"
*why not make a video about how to eat a sandwich*
Oh mr.collins. How I love thy character. Haha. Mr.Collins is portrayed so perfectly, just how I imagined him. And Lizzie is, of course, the ever quick to judge Lizzie. ^^
The fact that Ricky is terrible at making tea is possibly his greatest defect.
Everyone deserves tea
I think the way they have Charlotte and Mr. Collins acting is pretty much spot on like in the book ^^. I'm actually rereading P&P right now and am at this part! yay lol.
Nice ending. You think he'll barge in again, instead she spits out the awful tea.
I LOVE THAT THIS IS BASED OFF OF PRIDE AND PREJUDICE! I played Mr. Collins when my school did it!!
Nope, Charlotte, the Internet is not forever. I can't see the Naked Brothers Band anymore D':
I LOVED THEEEEM why can't you see them anymore?
I'm argentinian :'v
I can't find the episodes D':
Whatever, Nat and Alex are always awesome :D
I'm Ecuadorian! Yeah I know what you mean, I wish they would put them back on tv
Amen, my friend.
I feel like it's weird to write in english when we can write in spanish :D
I love this! The way you guys have modernized the characters yet kept the personality traits that make the story work is amazeing! Like for instance the way Lizzie is quite rude to Mr. Collins yet he seems oblivious to not only that but personal boundaries as well. Absolutely stunning!
Keep it up please!
Ah yes, why would anyone watch a video with their name as the title? Especially someone like Mr. Collins who cares about what people think of him
Mr. Collins is so frigging perfect. All of the characters are PERFECT.
How long?
...Hours
This webseries has one of the best castings I've ever seen. Every single actor/actress is just perfect for their respective character.
"Good tea, go, go now" I laugh so hard at that part :D
This version is better than the cut one. Upload ALL THE EXTENDED EDITIONS!! :D
It's so weird rewatching these because I love Maxwell Glick now (I discovered him through LBD, of course) and it's so strange seeing him be obnoxious and not (quite as) adorable.
Right?! I absolutely love Max
Definitely! Nice to see Mr. Collins coming up with some silly explanation for his interest in Lizzie that relates to the advancement of his career. I thought he might feel that way.
Charlotte seems to not dislike him quite as much as Lizzie does . . .
Now all I can think about is Josh Groban as Mr. Collins.
It would also be EPIC if Misha Collins was Mr. Collins.
What is this comment?!
To old
The extended is so awesome!
Anyone else notice that Collins talks like Doug from Up?
When I heard Mr. Collins mention that Lady Katherine was his Venture Capitalist, I almost died laughing...it makes total sense, but it's just perfect. I love how they're adapting the characters in the modern context.
I always forget mrcheezypop is in this! He's one of my favorite vloggers!
I absolutely love this version of Mr. Collins. It's so perfect. And Lydia! I love her so much in this version. It's so much fun.
I don't think lizzie was rude. she's just so much like me haha
I love who you got for Mr. Collins, He is perfect!
I beleive that this is the female version of Holden Caulfield.
Oh my goodness, the actor for Mister Collins totally mastered the mannerisms from the Mister Collins in the movie!! It is incredibly entertaining to watch. Hats off to you, sir!!
I have a feeling Mr. Collins' lines were written by Hank :3
when I watched it for the first time I wondered if they were acting or not and that's how you know it's an amazing show, so I agree
lizzie! lock the door
I am impressed with the long takes.
Wow. So when the comments said "Addictive........"
....They actually MEANT addictive.
I watched this whole series yesterday night. I'm obsessed!
Lizzie's pretty mean to him, but I can kinda see why...
He is incredibly obnoxious.. and kind of deserves it :P
I liked this extended version much better than the shorter one! It got all the great referecs to the books, and the cut version felt skipped, especially when Charlotte's trying to explain to Lizzie how the internet traces everything.... Thanks for putting this one out there too!!
why does Ricky have to be so CUTE?! This is making so difficult to get annoyed by him
Loving it !!
I don't know why...
But Lizzie really reminds me of GRArkada from Glass Reflection...
Their facial expressionis soooo alike... to me at least...
Ah... I laughed at the end. And Mr. Collins is perfect. He's actually more likeable than I expected. Wonderful.
Am I very weird for finding this Collins cute?
I really like the ways that Lizzy interacts with everyone, it's funny. And Mr. Collins. This is brilliant.
i like this but i think it's a bit too formal for a 'modern adaptation' at times. Eg. mr. collins
But Mr. Collin's whole character revolves around him being an obnoxious, wordy, oblivious person. Even in the novel, he was way more wordy than the other characters.
Mr. Collins is like an cute, yappy little puppy! Absolutely adorable, as long as it's someone else's responsibility.
Okay, I'm commenting to add my demographic --late middle-aged women.
oh my goodness, they NAILED Mr. Collins
Yeah Max was the BEST! Hi Max!
i dont get why lizzie is being so mean to him. i mean come on he bought her tea!!! thats pretty nice and considerate. i love this show and i love lizzie but whe it comes to her ineractoins with Ricky (sorry Mr. Collins) or even lydia.... espesially lydia i actually start to kind of hate her. i dont want to but she is just so..... argh!!!

Love these series!
UGH! This Mr. Collins is worse than ANY of the other ones! I hate it when people think they know everything and talk out of their ass all the time! AGH!!!!!
I am just in love with this....
Awww! Charlotte's face as she closes the door :3
Extended version...ALL the time. So lovely.
Nothing like an extra LBD vlog to brighten my day.
I think the portrayal of Mr. Collins is spot on. I cannot wait for him and Lydia to interact on Monday!
Poor guy, he does try ever so hard. Great episode and can't wait for more!
Yes! This is so much better. Now I truly feel like Collins is true to the book. Thank you for this. :D
Wow. You have the perfect Mr. Collins. Just the way he speaks, he IS Mr. Collins.
Love the extended editions
I laughed so hard and loudly that I had to replay the video to hear what was being said while I was laughing. Nice work.
Love this extended version!
